There's two things minimum that would make Skate 1 perfect. A decent replay editor, and session markers that don't trigger loads at like 10ft

There has been closed playtests running in the past, so if you sign yourself up you may be able to get in to one of the future playtests. We don't know when the next one is, but you'll get an email if you have been accepted. There will usually be an announcement in here too, to let people know playtest invites have gone out and to check those emails.

Well, I'd like a replay editor that lets me place 'nodes' and interpolates between them, sadly it wasn't finished in time, and ended up as DLC for Skate 2

But Skate 2's Advanced Free Camera has its issues, and most of these were fixed in S3

im going to be honest how have i not been selected for the beta ive been signed up for a while.

So have a lot of people, it’s pretty up to the team on who gets to have the chance to playtest skate., and even a lotta veteran fans haven’t gotten the chance yet
Even then, if they did get in, not like they’d be able to tell us under contractual obligation and agreements 😂

I mean, I can’t sign up for the Insider program until I’m 18, and my birthday’s in November, and then I gotta wait for if/when they allow console players to play-test

It wouldn’t be very good if the wrong kind of person got the chance to play something like a play-test for a franchise they like, only to ruin their chance immediately because they blab about it to their friends/leak play-test stuff online

Not being able to create a skater that represented me in the story sucked. So when I was finally able to do that in skate 2, it meant a lot

Anyone else feeling like this game is being teed up to be a letdown?

"were working on it" was posted over 2 years ago. Dont get me wrong i know games are a lot of work but its not like theyre starting from scratch.

All I (and i would guess others want) is just a new skate game. Im not worried about customizability, or all these forza like public events.

I think it would have built up less hype(therefore less letdown) if they announced later as well as not worrying about adding so much stuff that likely no one will utilize. Not to mention I know for a fact EA would not support making a game for a (somewhat) niche crowd unless they know they can turn a profit, NHL on pc being a prime example. SO EXPECT MICROTRANSATIONS.

Dont get me wrong, ill still be getting the game and im sure the core gameplay will be enjoyable, just a little sad in the direction its headed 😦

well with what you are saying, the feeling of waiting does really suck especially for something that alot of people didnt expect to see in the future. I want to say your letdown side of things could be shown towards the pre pre alpha that has been shown a million times and the board rooms just leaving you for more and more. There is alot more factors i could say but thats just me. The way I see it, if they did announce christmas day "we are now in a public beta" there would just have a higher demand compared to now where all we get is little sneak peeks. Also "stuff no one will utilize" i disagree, there is a person for everything. just be glad we are getting a most likely great game and and even if its EA butchered money, look at skate 3, it wasnt perfect and a full game like skate 2 for example but it still gained alot of popularity and attraction to this day.

thats a fair point. there is a person for everything. i might just be projecting myself, im someone who doesnt listen to any dialogue in games and just enjoys core gameplay.

I think the new mechanics theyre adding look awesome, but i dont really care too much about character customization, public events. Im really just here for the core gameplay to feel fun (fun being different than perfect)

i just really hope they dont spend too much time refining things that people may use a handful of times and then continue on with the game as if they didnt exist

if youve played destiny, things like the green beacons you can do with randoms. go collect 5 plants.

I recommend you watch the Board Room videos on their YouTube page as they address quite a few of your concerns here. But to hit some bullet points from them that touch on what you brought up:

• They actually are starting from scratch! Building the game from the ground up.
• We definitely are getting a new skate. game that stands alone that we can be excited about!
• Of course there will be micro transactions. BUT see the sticker I post after this message for good news.
• Check out the latest Board Room vid and the Playtest Highlight Reel to see where we're currently at and where we are going. It's looking quite nice

There are a few irks regarding core gameplay that have been there since the beginning, but looking at Skate 1 and the development video gives me a lot of hope

The direction doesn't bother me so much, so long as it doesn't affect my gameplay, something that Forza did happen to do

MTX being for cosmetics is annoying but I get it, and I could see a lot of revenue from this. If it follows the common trend of the more wacky/flashy, the more expensive, I'll be delighted

In my experience it hurt but wasn't unbearable. The pain would mostly last 2-3 days after getting them tightened then would feel fine. The bands part was a little more tricky as the longer I'd have them off to eat the more I'd feel it when putting them back on

Please add dual stick controls as an option, i know the animations will call for more, but i can see alot of the XL & Session community getting bored with the controls within the first couple months of "skate." I've been playing skate 3 for 13 years now & been playing on hardcore for 10 years, getting clips, i would guess you have an option for gravity, but dual stick would take the community over of all 3 games.

To be honest, by the time the game launches we hope to have had everyone playtest and provide feedback.

And that’s the most important part: provide valuable, constructive feedback on what is played in the playtest forums. Just playing without sharing feedback (in the appropriate place) doesn’t really help - it’s not like a server stress test where we’re looking to overload servers. We need the feedback of those that have played - what’s working, what’s not, what needs a tweak, etc. That’s why we’re playtesting this early in development. It’s not a demo.

Correct, but the requirements currently are for the playtest build, which is not what the final build will be with optimization and whatnot, so we're not sharing publicly what the playtesting requirement specs are as they will definitely change.

Those invited to the playtest will receive all the details, including PC requirements to play.

We'll have more info in the coming months.
