It's always possible in the future it'll happen when they are ready to go to the beta stage. But if it does, it will only be once they get all the alpha polishing done.

They never said there wouldn't be a beta. For all games there are typically alpha and beta tests. They just tend to be closed off and private. Testing and feedback for a beta stage of the game would still be needed since it wouldn't be the same game that was tested during the various alpha stages.

Generally (every studio has slightly different definitions, but broadly this is how it works), Alpha stage means incomplete game with constant development, features, and mechanics being added with each version pushed for testing. Beta stage is basically complete. No new features are being added. It's almost a full release ready to be sent into the wild. There still needs polishing here and there and crashes/bugs will be present but it is an accurate representation of what the game will be like as a whole visually and mechanically.

Here is the interesting thing. It's been stated that each playtest gets bigger and bigger. So who knows, maybe we'll see a beta stage before we know it! Until then, at least we have the highlight reel and board rooms to keep us going lol

I just want to say, I will NEVER get used to the new way "bet" is used as to mean "cool". It will always come across as a challenge or dare to me.

not possible. Skate has more controls than Skater XL or Sessions. Wouldnt be able to do grabs, and if not grabs than wouldnt be able to do plants, darkslides, or whatever else the trigger and bumpers do.

i know exactly what you mean. Cant change the joysticks out without replacing how to steer, without mapping steering to the bumpers or triggers which either get rid of Grabs, Plants, or darkslides. There is no possible way to add stick options to skate. You cannot remap grabs plants or darkslides anywhere else

using flick controls, you are using the right stick to do tricks, and the rest of the controller to do variations.

With stick controls, you are using both left and right sticks, and left and right bumpers for movement and controls.

Flick it takes away 1 control option, Sticks uses 4 control options.

Its not possible to remap the missing controls if Skate were to have a duel stick option.

However, Andersons Viking deck was in THPS 1+2, so im not sure if maybe he is locked into Activison. The only few skaters Ive seen in both games were Chris Cole, Nyjah, and Eric Koston

Since the game will be F2P I really hope they have a lot of the newer brands and gear.

They could even do what THPS 1+2 did which was, even though they didnt have skaters from all brands, they still had other stuff in the game. Like I said, they didnt have Andy Anderson in the game, but they had his board as one of the hardest unlocks in the game. So even if P-Rod isnt in this title, id find it hard to believe they leave out Primitive.

Tyshawn Jones, Japanese Super Rat, Nik Stain. Them 3 are so diverse from each other, so I think it would be an insane line up. I'm a huge fan of agressive skaters

Playtesting from my experience from other games is a blessing but also a curse. Sometimes it's better to wait for the full product than to play a buggy unfinished version of it

Nice. Im glad to hear the v1.0 is a ways off. The playtest recaps have been very promising. But lately i noticed the Clothing in those vids do not gave clothing physics enabled

A lot of people don't understand what a playtest is and think it's an early polished demo. Doesn't matter how much you stress it's state.
I've seen people play an early access game and get made that there is glitches. Sometimes you can't manage people's expectations of things no matter how hard you try to explain it and help them understand

i guess when the testers go in, they see the boardroom and the playtest highlights and look at how (somewhat) polished some things seem to be, then go into it thinking thats what it would be like, but they dont realise that what you see in the highlights and boardroom are cherry picked in order to make the game not look completely ultra buggy

100% or just play to be one of the first to touch a game without leaving feedback. I suppose in online games the metrics alone will help with feedback through that player though

@dull pilot hey, so this whole "no play test" rule makes sense but it's kinda annoying to deal with, do you think there could be a role (obtained by proving you got in) that grants access to a secret channel where we can openly discuss it, troubleshoot, etc.

I think having a role directly breaks the rules, as in, even if you got in the playtest, you arent allowed to discuss that you got in anyway.

So having a role for it would be against the rules of this public server, which is why there is a private one they send in the email

If you were invited, it will be in your launcher. If you were not, you were not invited for this test. Continuing to discuss it here - in violation of the Playtesting agreement and the server rules - can result in you not being invited to any playtests and I don't want that for anyone.

From what I've gathered, the first email you get says not to mention anything about the playtest, not even that you've been selected

But check back over any emails you may have, there will be something to direct you I'm sure

Some games I've playtested have even had a shortcut in the game itself, so might be worth looking there and reading any notices

They want feedback, so they will make it easy for you to do so
