Suede is terrible when wet when leather is literally waterproof

Skating in athletic type shoes, while possible, isn't really recommended because it doesn't have a flat sole and the squishy-ness from the foam for running can mess with your balance a little bit and feel weird.
It's your choice what you want to make a victim of the grip tape

On a street deck you may rarely change grip tape because by the time it needs new grip, the deck probably needs to be changed from wear as well.
Longboards/cruisers you might change the grip on because the decks tend to last longer depending on what you are doing with them

There are some, grass as you said but also with the landing of tricks brings up a little bit of dirty/dust / particals. Also if when stood afk or waiting for your turn on a spotbattle or 1-up for example the sky you can see a some dusty/ particles that move around the screen 🙂 but when moving the particals stop showing. I think this was done before to keep the gameplay clean looking so its not in the screen the whole time

TLDR

Game gets pitched. And has to go before various exec review teams to approve. And the pitch isn’t “I want to make a skate game”. It has to include a lot of info and details, and it’s all scrutinized.

Then it gets greenlit and budgeting approved. Then you have to build a team and studio. Recruitment time! (PS, all the recruiting and whatnot kicked up right about the time the pandemic started).
Then you sort out pods - various disciplines for making the game. Then you staff pods. And you build the framework. And then you test internally for a good long while.
Then you have focus groups, NDA’s playtests with small groups, continue working and building. Then you declare a milestone - “we got here!”
Then you continue working and building to the next milestone. The last milestone before launch gets you to launch, but that’s not the end of building.

Meanwhile, we start bringing in more playtesters. And review actual feedback, data, metrics, KPIs, etc. Then the team iterated on what is good, makes decisions, and continues building.

And during this, other teams look at partners, talent, etc. They create marketing plans, community plans, social plans. And the studio continues building.

Once the game is in a state that it’s ready for a lot of people, but not quite ready for launch, more open tests. Maybe a declared Beta. Then they take that data and tweak and make fixes/adjustments.

And when the day does come to say “Welcome to San Vansterdam, everyone!”, it will be a celebration. But the work continues.

Btw - this is not even 1/100 of all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes that most don’t even know about. But that’s why we are here so early and sharing as we make the game. To give you an inside view of game development and to be part of the process.

What you DON’T want is to rush the process. And the amazing folks at Full Circle are excited to get to game into folks’ hands, but they’re not rushing. Because they want to do it right.

I heard Skate 4 will only run on Quantum PCs, but you have to have a 21 jigawatt powersupply.

Optimization helps a lot to get lower spec systems in the running, but a potato is always a potato. (Not saying you're on a potato. I've had my fair share. Fun story: Was playing an MMO back in 2008 and threw my ultimate. So did my gf. It made my VIDEO CARD groan.)
