Hi guys, apologies for the delay in getting back to you. It is my understanding that it was a visual bug with the leaderboard and it was there for 6 days. I totally understand this may have influenced players decisions to purchase more disks and so I think it is only fair that those people have the option to refund their money and we burn the disks / illuvitars only for that purchase period.

Regarding the other questions, yes I think the legacy leaderboard needs to continue but with wave 2 coming later in the year and the TCG we should definitely look at reviewing all beyond rewards in general. The reality is Beyond is generating a lot of revenue for us and so we want to make sure that the playerbase is happy. Having said that it does need to remain sustainable, but I think we can do both - increase rewards and keep things sustainable.

I will conduct that review with @old reef and @icy raft this week, and we should schedule a Town Hall specifically for Beyond the following week where we will present the changes and give you an update on the Celebration set, Set 2, and the TCG.

You can laugh if you want… I wanted to buy something from this kid and I asked him to wait a few days. I traded with him many times before. Whenever he wanted to buy something, I always sold it to him cheaply, and whenever I bought from him, I always paid a fair amount (for example, even in Wave 4 I paid $150 for a T0).
He didn’t reply to me at all, then I saw him sell it for less than what I had offered him. When I told him I wouldn’t do trades with him anymore, he blocked me without a word.
It’s interesting that even after so many years of playing Beyond, there are still a few people who disappoint me. If he had just told me that he urgently needed the money, there would have been no problem at all, but he didn’t even bother to reply.
Although honestly, I think avoiding people like this is only a win for me… I’m glad I got to see his true colors. I’m sharing this so everyone can get to know him better.

P.S. This isn’t drama, just a warning. From today on, I won’t even acknowledge him anymore. Compared to him, Poatan is an angel. 😄

In some way, apart from this issue, many different community members have also given a lot of feedback about ılluvidex, and we haven’t really seen many fixes, which is why we’re getting this stressed…

As someone who has invested both time and effort into the game and plays it quite a lot, this was really all I could do from my side, and I honestly expect the same level of commitment from the team as well. If everyone continues to do their best and stays attentive, maybe some of these issues won’t get overlooked or dismissed as easily as they sometimes are. I’m not saying at all that the team is slacking off or not working hard—that’s definitely not what I mean. I just think that with better communication and a bit more consistency, things could be handled in a way that feels more transparent and satisfying for everyone involved... 🙏

I agree with you. And I know they are working hard. Clearer communication is a MUST for this to continue being an actual revenue source for the team. I understand there are a lot of issues they're dealing with, and that they will take time to complete.... But there NEEDS to be a clear, documentable acknowledgement when issues are raised, and then feedback regarding them. Basically, we have stopped using support tickets because most things now affect everyone instead of one person. So, now we need a community support ticket to track and correct the issues. I know the last few weeks weren't great, particularly with bugs. That's on us. The frustration in here is fair, I've been reading and I get it.
Quick thing on the team. The devs were hired to build, not to be in this channel addressing the heat they're taking between fixes. Bugs are frustrating, they feel it too. Rich is in here because that's literally what he's brilliant at. The fastest path to fixes is letting the rest of the dev team focus.

On yesterday: we said fuel balances were fixed for everyone. They weren't. Team was on it through the night, pushed a fix around 4am my time, and we've been cross-checking. Our backend team just identified another fix. We'd rather take an extra few hours on this one before saying it's fully fixed. I know that's more waiting on top of waiting, and that's annoying. Rich and I will keep you posted.

Now the part I really want to talk more about in the future: more utility for Beyond. Fixes like this take priority, but outside of that we are building the foundations of the card game. There's more I'd love (/plan😏 ) to leak here in the future when it's ready (but if I do, please don't make it too obvious by tagging CCs right after, lest you get me in trouble). I'm honestly more excited now than I was on day one, 4.5 years ago. Kieran is also meeting with me and Jeremy to find a way to increase rewards while keeping things sustainable, like he said. Plus, we have the beaut celebration set in the works, wait till you see some more of the art from Dan and Sofia.

This is not as important as the issues mentioned above, but it would be great if the offer problem could also be fixed in the future. A few weeks ago, I waited 4 hours for the offers to load, and even then it was unsuccessful.

Yeah, I get it. We had the major zkEVM chain migration to get through just before Wave 5, and unfortunately that wasn’t optional for us. Not using that as an excuse, but it did mean big updates across assets, metadata services, marketplace behaviour and other areas that touch all the games, so there were a lot of edge cases to cover.

We finished the migration and then moved straight into Wave 5, which gave us less breathing room than we would have liked. I completely understand why the unresolved problems have been frustrating to say the least, especially when they affect funds, chests, offers or basic marketplace flows. Honestly, I think the frustration comes from caring about the project and wanting the product to be better. If you didn’t care @sick perch, you’d probably just sign out. So I do appreciate you saying it directly, even if the tone was a bit heated. We’re working through the highest priority issues first. The offers issue was related to Passport and its use of the Magic SDK, though we're still looking at ways to improve it.

you will refund the fuel spent on disks bought during a certain period (and only those that request it), because of an error that MAY or MAY NOT have induced people to spend more on disks.

1st of all, is there actually some data that shows some sort of spike in activity in this period of time, that could be linked to the mention visual error?

and now ofc we see the hounds going disk through disk, checking which disk was profitable enough to NOT ask a refund on it...

is this healthy for the illuvium ecosystem overall? i would rather see an apology for the mistake, than to be burning and refunding mints that people previously did...

I am pretty sure that 70% of the disks bought between 6 and 12 may are not bought because of the reward spike, but just because of the lambo promo. I also doubt that "refunds" were an outcome that he had in mind. For context, this came after the initial response in this channel to the leaderboard UI issue, Kieran’s earlier message, the reaction that followed, my message yesterday above ^ and then us taking in the feedback and offering a narrow refund path for players who may have been directly affected.

I believe refunds are handled per eligible D1SK purchase. It is all or nothing for that D1SK: all assets from that D1SK must still be available and must be burned before any Fuel refund is issued. If any assets from that D1SK have been sold, traded, or transferred, that D1SK will not be eligible.

It is all or nothing for any D1SKs sold during the period: If any assets have been sold from D1SKs during the period then the user is ineligible for an any refunds on all their D1SKs purchased in that period.

I get where you’re coming from though. We’re trying to handle the mistake fairly, while making sure nobody benefits twice at the expense of other players.

I also hear Alexa’s broader point that this shouldn’t just be about short term compensation. Beyond players want more to look forward to, and that ties into the wider rewards/future discussion happening with Kieran, Jeremy and me, as well as the work going into the card game and Set 2.

Hi everyone. Seems I've missed a lot in the last 24 hours. Just to clarify, although I think I brought up the audio issue first, after I saw the change in the LB rewards, there was already a post about it and I only echoed that one. I'd love to give credit, but don't remember who it was. However, this is certainly not the solution that I expected, or even considered. While I did spend a good amount that week, I spent much more on the secondary marketplace and in direct trades than I did on disks. As far as I am concerned, this solution does not address the actual problem.

As far as the solution is concerned, it will create a HUGE headache for the team, probably costing more in man-hours than will be refunded in fuel. Personally, I opened about 1000 disks in that time, and there is no doubt that 99% of them were junk, but also that there were some that had accessories or illuvitars that I used. But here is the biggest problem I see: You cannot prove/quantify which players spent more due to the rewards! Period. In fact, I would say it was the opposite. I don't think I spent more because I actually expected the rewards to be higher. I have spent LESS after the "correction" because now the ROI is terrible. But anyone who asks for a refund in that period will get it because you can't say they bought more or less due to the error. If you want to refund people for the fuel spent during that week, because everyone was still spending, that would be one thing. But to say that refunds are only for players who spent "more" because of the rewards is not quantifible, proveable, or justifiable. Any honest person who spent money that week and doesn't feel the spent "extra" shouldn't have to lose out on a refund when other players will take advantage of it, get their fuel back, and open more disks.

I appreciate that you are trying to fix an issue and make the Beyond players happy! However, I think this sets a dangerous precedent, a slippery slope that could come back to haunt the project in the future as well as sow division among the supporters. The only things that will be burnt are the disks nobody wanted in the first place. It will upset the true ratio of "rare" illuvitars and the overall pull distribution. And honestly, in my opinion, it doesn't truely address the underlying issue, which is the end of wave rewards. (Those are a fraction of what was expected) There is a better way. @haughty rivet and @latent willow talked about it, and I echo what they both said. An increased reward will work, in ILV or fuel or ETH. An apology is great (and received, thank you). But as they both posted, this is just going to reward some of the people so they can open more disks. It isn't actually going to set anything right, reward the community, or make Illuvium a better place to be. Please reverse this decision. If you can "un-mint", you can change a decision.

If someone really did purchase disks based on seeing the inflated rewards, they did NOT buy those just to open them and look at their contents for a whole week. Therefore, this refund idea probably does not apply to even a single person who really bought stuff due to seeing the wrong numbers. Which is the whole point of this issue...

They would speak negatively about Illuvium forever. This hurts worse because this community has supported you for YEARS and invested heavily. Hell, e-mail ads to everybody that ever signed up to illuvium. But, BEFORE you do that. Update the website so people actually know how to do this stuff in 3 clicks. I'm an old guy investor and it took me weeks before I found the discord, months figuring out the ecosystem,

If you launch an MMO before fixing the website and the how-to system, IMO you're doomed to fail. You'll have quick success again followed by a dramatic drop off....which is normal. But you need coversion to the rest of illuvium to survive. It's possible but the window is closing. You have momentum despite all of these set backs. You have a core group community ready to support you heavily. Now its operations and delivery. But don't drop a brand new product onto a broken system and think it will work. We all want this to win; this isn't some extraction of rewards complaint. It's a betrayal feeling like this community is your piggy bank that you don't care about. You take the funds and invest it poorly in other broken areas.

Unfortunately the move to ERC-1155 means you can't see source for commodity items. Prior to zkEVM move, D1sks and accessories were ERC-721 and you could trace exactly which d1sk led to each item.

You must be new here. Yes we have advertised Beyond in traditional channels, through ads, email, social etc. Ads have never worked. Marketing an NFT collection game is much more nuanced due to the negative stigma surrounding NFTs. What has worked is partnerships, we’ve so far had GameStop, Casio, Team Liquid, and Lamborghini. This keeps the product fresh. We’ve also worked with a bunch of other large crypto projects whose audiences are much more receptive to NFTs. Players are frustrated with us offering refunds, some players are frustrated with us not offering some kind of compensation. We made a mistake, we have owned it and said we are offering a refund for those affected. Of course we can’t allow people to pick and choose which disks they want to refund. And I’m well aware that doesn’t help a lot of people, but outside of apologizing there isn’t more we can do (except looking into giving more rewards) which I’ve already said we are looking into and will announce next week.

It's the launch new with many bugs and errors, sit on it for weeks, no reply, no fix issues. Join discord and have any issue, scammers ping you left and right. I had a "Lars" from illuvium call my phone at 11PM. Ascendant, glitch with abyssal basin, move from 5 affinity back to original, click sell with wrong data a bot buys it in seconds for wrong price, gone. Spend lots of money on Beyond and rewards are generally larger weekly but not $50,000 tournament large. See the LB and spend to get it done. Then get told, nope not right. It brings up all the other glitches.

Customer service and community management did take a hit, but not because we don’t care, those resources are being used to make the products better. Of course better communication is a net positive, but breathing new life into the product with a TCG is going to be a lot more effective. Building the MMO is decided, its been approved, is is underway, thats the direction.

Within that context your ideas fall flat.

Specifically the idea that marketing effort hasn't been made is silly. Getting brand partners like Casio and Lamborghini is significant. These are high visibility low cost partnerships, but these efforts have not moved the needle.

In the past there were many deals with streamers, gaming teams, other crypto games, and so on. None of them were particularly effective for Beyond. The vast majority of Beyond spend is from people who came to Beyond through discovery of and involvement in the wider Illuvium ecosystem.

Spending 100k on streamers and advertising to get 200 new wallets that don't interact past the 90 day mark, and whose TLV is less than $500 does not make sense.

For example go do the research on the Team Liquid partnership (its still there in IMX if you care enough to dissect it). This is a massive popular gaming team, and there were numerous streams, social posts, etc. Although we did get a modest uptick in wallets, the spend from these new wallets was extremely small.

But lets not let measurable data get in the way of your personal take.

My final word on the matter, which is the same thing I have already said: within that framework of the agreed MMO strategy it makes more sense to make the bulk of marketing moves, and advertising spend, around the same time as, or after, the MMO release.

Maybe I'm wrong, but when the 4 wave ended, we were promised rewards that are formed for each disk purchased, not for the ETH spent + the reward is again tied to the ETH rate. We already went through this during wave 4 and it was promised that this would not happen. If ETH at the end of the wave is more than 4 thousand, then the rewards in ILV will be halved.

I love the illuvitar designs they are amazing. However I'm not a fan of the RNG factor and being able to increase said RNG with more money. a simple solution to this rng problem is to make box type 0% chance on lower tiers but keep some chance of acquiring higher tiers,

Its a loot box type system. You buy the box and get a random portrait or accessory then you add the accessories to the portrait after. Trading on the aftermarket is gonna be nuts as people try and trade for their preferred accessories.

Morning All. I'm trying to understand the value prop.

My understanding is that value is firstly determined by the tier of portrait, and secondly by the rarity within that tier. I say this because its possible to have a lower tier portrait that rarer than a higher level. But if this is the case we would expect the market to value tiers as most important.

Also, I would expect accessories to DECREASE the value of an Illuvitar. This is because is destroys the concept of rarity since accessories have billions of combinations, therefore we can all create 1 of 1 uniqueness with any Illuvitar whatever the tier. A pure untouched Illuvitar would have more flexibility than a customised one.

I am ignoring utility here as we have no idea what that will be.

Is this pretty much what you all are thinking?

If the goal is to pull in average gamers and not whales, a low end box that has t1-t3 with a $10 price tag seems good. Or even only t1 and t2. The jump from 0 to 100+ is steep

Three different packs you can buy for illuvitars. Pack 1 costs 0.1 eth has one illuvitar and two accessories of any rarity (low chances of getting higher tiers etc), pack two costs 0.25 eth and has 3 illuvitars and 5 accessories of any rarity (with slightly better chances of getting rare items etc) and Pack 3 costs 0.5 eth and has 5 illuvitars and 7 accessories of any rarity (highest chances of rarest items etc). With some glorious pack opening mechanics too 😍😍♊

Nothing happens. You just dont possess "it", you possess an image of "it". For utility NFTs, the difference is huge. It is useless to possess the image of a land, while the land itself will have utility. In the case of a non-utility NFT, the difference is smaller. I mean you could buy a faked Mona Lisa right? It would still look good (debatable according to your tastes) but it would not be the actual thing.

There is a "code" behind a NFT. You need that code to access utilities, a private discord channel or staking for example.
The image that you get on the screenshot is just on a surface level.

Bronze box odds:

0.756 * T1 = 0.756T1
0.2 * T2 = 0.6T1
0.03 * T3 = 0.27T1

Sum of this is 2.22 equivalent T1 per Bronze box. so you need 37 T1 boxes in average to get a T5 if you can combine them in packs of 3. That is 1.85 eth on average. I like those odds.
