no, there are 25 Illuvitars in Batch 1. They did add 3 extra to "set" or batch one, according to Kieran.

Batch and set should not be used interchangably because they are not the same.

A set is the entire set of illuvials in the first generation of illuvials. this means all 206 illuvials together.
A batch refers to a subset of illuvitars that are created around a number of illuvials from the first set.

But with Kieran actually using them interchangably i get the confusion. With his +3 it means that there will be 28 illuvitars in Batch one. but likely 206 illuvitars for Set one

An illuvitar is a portrait and Profile picture based on a unique illuvial. The illuvial can be used to battle in-game, the illuvitar is purely a portrait and PFP.
There will not be two portraits of the same illuvial (as far as we know)

Actually no they are not. It’s a unique line in the paid tiers. The free to play ones are similar though. Because you have one line that is all sorta like lizards for example, and those “lizards” are all rogue class but can come in all 5 affinities

Will there be a way to stop people cheating the system with Illuvitar collections?

Example:
Let's say I complete an album/set of illuvitars and get a reward for doing so.
After receiving my reward I lend/transfer my illuvitar set (or part of set needed) to a friend who then also completes the set and gets a reward.
After friend has received the reward they then transfer the borrowed set back to me.

I ask because I see a similar thing happening with galagames TownStar competitions.

I was hoping a solution might be a one-&-done type of thing...
Example:
Say I purchase a few d1sks & get a full set of illuvitars to complete an album & win a reward.
Each individual nft/illuvitar used to complete that album would then be tagged/stamped (in the UI) as reward redeemed.
That should stop people being able to cheat the system by transferring illuvitars from account to account.

The tagged/stamped marking would have to be very clear in the user interface so buyers on the secondary market
are well informed that a reward has already been redeemed for this illuvitar & will not count towards any other rewards.

(Sorry if this is a bit long winded but just don't want people to cheat the system)

nope - it worked with unlocks and snapshots - so theres no gaming the system, when the collection in incomplete, a certain 'thing' is not longer unlocked. ur not getting nft rewards

we want people to be able to trade and complete collections - so stamping nfts as 'reward redeemed' etc. would be counter-intuitive 🙂
People should pursue completing a collection from batch 1, 5 years from now, and still get the rewards deemed to that collection.

We can keep the rewards fresh with new products or releases etc. Should be fun to see how this all develops in the future 😄

Actually no. Illuvitars are PFPs. Based on the illuvials that are played in the game.

Illuvials in each set will have a finite supply. They are on a bonding curve. As time goes on, they will become harder to capture. The main in-game burn mechanic comes with fusion. To fuse a stage 2 Illuvial, you need to combine three stage 1's of the same type. It's the same for stage 3. You would need to combine 3 stage 2 illuvials. The first set will be genesis Illuvials, and once the 2nd set is released, you will no longer be able to capture the first set in the wild. You can still buy them from other players in the Illuvidex / P2P marketplace.

They're released in sets of 25. As new sets are released, previous sets will be no longer purchasable, capping supply. Think of them as collectable cards or stickers, if you want to collect them but the ones you need are no longer for sale, then you have to either swap or buy from the secondary market if someone is willing!

Yes, d1sks are planned to be held and tradable unopened. It's one of my favorite features of this system. I'm a collector of unopened Magic card packs, and love the mystery and value of really old sets. I can see illuvitars doing the same.

Has there been discussion before on allowing illuvitars to be used as stickers/emotes in the game?

Was thinking that it would be a simple but relatively effective means to add utility and encourage collecting beyond what’s already planned.

If they can be used as stickers and what not then you can have a real use for the 20 or 100 illuvitars you aren’t using as your pfp.

Key consideration here would be having an in game sticker/emote design app like the emblem creators you see on CoD for example. Main thing for it would be adding phrases and extras could be a simple pen and color wheel feature among other elements to spice things up.

For people who are thinking of collecting the illuvitars in any way, or are collectors of any trading cards of any kind; how do you feel about multiple versions of the same creature? I'm thinking of how there's many many different versions of the Pikachu Pokemon card for example, some with no differences besides the art. Is that something you might look for as collectors? Or does it turn you off? Assuming there was a decent amount of time between versions of course.

When time goes by Art improves, that could end in the new illuvitar Version looking way better than og illuvitars.
But it would open up a whole bunch of new collections for album. Like a collection of 1 specific illuvitar in all versions. You could also do something like a chilled, crazy, angry, christmas, beach or whatever side-set where you have certain illuvitars in a "special"-version.

I think it's pretty obvious that the art has evolved in a large way even from batch 1 to batch 3 before the first illuvitars went live. there is a lot more dynamics in the newer sets compared to the older "concept art".

The foxes have a swoosh now. and the squids are lot more energetic as well.

To me it was only a matter of time before new iterations of the same illuvial would come out. But for some reason this was never made clear towards the community. Leaving those points open and up for discussion is a good strategy. In this case I had the belief that we would only get 1 illuvitar per illuvial so i must have gotten that from somewhere through AMA's or whatever.

It is a pretty drastic change from 1 Illuvial - 1 Illuvitar. It obviously would give the team more wiggleroom to make a second version that looks even better, and also more forms of revenue as they can continue to create illuvitars about set one illuvials even after 1 iteration is done. I imagine Illuvitars take way less time than Illuvials that require concept art - models and animations for new illuvials at cinematic levels and integration in UE5.

But even though it has a lot of benefits for the project, it is a change from what the community has been expecting. We (the community) should be properly notified of the changes and this should be decided and done before the first batch of Illuvitars go live. There is nothing as annoying as finding out there is a change to the things you invested money in, either affecting the rarity (There suddenly are more illuvitars of a specific illuvial) or the functionality (You can use any new form of illuvitar in place of this illuvitar in the album going forward).

Open dialogue will be key to have this transition take place "peacefully" 🙂
I don't mean to say that things won't go peacefully but there might be a backlash from the community similar to what happened with the Forge if things are decided without proper notice. 😉

Personally, I've never been a fan. One of the things that bothered me about Pokémon Go was the Pikachu with Hats. At first, I collected them because at heart I am a bit of a collector, but in the end, I stopped because the value didn't seem worth it, and after a while, it bothered me because it took up so much room in my box (which was limited unless I bought an upgrade). I don't mind being pumped for money when it's something I like, but when a company does low effort just to get money I have huge issues. I am a fan first and an investor second.

I guess what I am saying is to make sure it's more than just adding a hat, and be cognizant of how often those come out.

Also it's kind of a shit feeling when you think you have a complete collection only to see they added to it a year or so later. so there is that also

I always assumed there would be multiples per Illuvial. I think its best to space them out as much as possible but I dont really see any way around it unless we want the rollout of Illuvitar sets to be pretty slow.

To me the important thing would be to make sure they are stylistically unique. You might have one atlas who is happily smiling at the sky and another who is more dark and mysterious.

Redoing Illuvials in the future will also give late-comers to the project an opportinity to collect their favorite Illuvial's Illuvitar without it being a crazy expensive genesis Illuvitar. It would be kind of sad if the majority of players will never be able to collect some of the first set like the Ramphyre and Axolotl line.

Ill add that any Illuvial thats 'reprinted' should be unique in its role in filling out album collections. That is, An old atlas should fill a slot that the next atlas printed a year later might not fill.

This helps retain the collectible value of the original asset over the later version

I found myself thinking maybe too much along the line of pokemon or yugioh cards with how they always had a few lines. It could work well with the illuvitar collection rewards perhaps though. Not sure though. Might already be being handled extensively enough with other aspects of the game.

Building up lore for the illuvitars could be an interesting concept though for example if you enter tournaments with your illuvitar equipped and become the champion a special lore element could be attached to your illuvitar and as time progresses some could build fables if they can manage to continue winning or placing high. Even falling from grace and rising back up.

The wording has changed to disks but yes they have! A basic disk will be .015 Eth and a Mega disk will be .075 Eth

Pricing

There are two D1sks available. A Basic D1sk costs 0.015 ETH and contains 1 random Illuvitar and 3 random Accessories (plus a free Tier 0). The Ultra D1sk costs 0.075 ETH, swaps the Tier 0 for a higher tier, and includes at least one guaranteed rare.

So at current prices of ILV ($67.46) and ETH ($1620) you would need around 36 sILV2 to get 100 basic d1sks

How much would you pay for one? I think the most important factor in this is the time spend leveling it up. Lvl 1 = $0.
Any other level could be something like 50 cents per hour spend. So if you spend 10 hours to level something up it can be like $5.

They did, but as they do the idea and the plans keep shifting. Most recent info I’ve heard is a 6 month run of the first set with a marketing campaign focusing on the first two weeks.

Makes sense to me honestly, you need to give ppl time to understand the collection aspect and this way ppl don’t have to fomo in. It also allows for more base portrait variations to be opened from the packs. It would be a waste to have the art team work on so many variations only to see them unrealized due to a short sale.

I agree, I am just playing minor devils advocate. The main difference with that example is those were physical cards. The worn down black lotus cards are of lesser value and many have been destroyed over the years which helped to increase its value. Unless there becomes a way to burn Illuvitars increasing the value for those still existing, Illuvitars won’t have that problem being a digital collectible. Though I’ll bet ‘pure’ base portraits of older sets could be huge in the coming years. Personally it’s going to be hard for me to want to bond accessories to too many of my genesis Illuvitars for exactly that reason

That was my first thought too but after a minute thinking about it and realizing that even with it being 6 months (or whatever) and the extra sales that entails, we are still SO early and they aren't all the same. People will be putting on accessories that can't be removed. Backgrounds and expressions are different. I think even with a longer selling period this first set is worth buying a lot of.

If there was some sort of burn or selecting mechanism it would make sense. A rare one can't get more produced because people like it. If it always has 1% chance therefore over time there should be 1% out there.

Accessories on your illuvitar profile picture in the album will give more power to the one you bind the accessory to. and it will also be able to function in multiple collections that way.

Imagine: Rhamphyre collection, Hat (stage 1-2-3) collection, earring (stage 1-2-3) collection etc.

So if you have a rhamphyre with a hat and earring it will take up spots in 3 collections.
And with it being a Tier 5 illuvial it will have a high power and thus give you a stronger ranking and likely also more benefits. (But we dont know what type of benefits :])

The plan is just to limit accessories I think. There are no new accessories for set 2 and 3 for example. As you said, each new accessory has to be adapted to fit every illuvitar past and present. So the workload scales massively the further along we go

the generic item would still fit all illuvitars, but i might look differently. So each Illuvitar maybe has 10 different hat versions, but hat1 is maybe a green basecap on Archos, but a top hat with „ I like it hot“ on rhamphyre. The drawback is that you would not know how your illuvitar looks like with that hat unless you can try it out or look the combination up.

I guess my mind is more on the scarcity aspect. If I get 10 boxes and the first one is something very scarce, I probly won't get another that rare so I could make a judgement call on the probabilities of getting something more rare or whatever. Or filling out a set from opening discs vs buying the one I need and so on. Some people like opening stuff and some people like getting the right guys for their set. So, I was just curious. Plus I'm sure when there isn't many left to open that the price of them will go up. Might take months or years, but sooner or later there will only be a few of them left to open. Haha.
