This patch is more flexible than patch A before the ranger.

Ranger gives a threshold for free as it doesn't occupy illuvial slots, and you can pivot its base synergy just by changing weapons.

We keep 2-3-5 thresholds to allow for flexibility, but we push 7 and 9 for people who really want to commit to a base synergy strategy.

About berserker, your assessment would be valid if only berserker had changed, but all composites have changed, and most have been buffed, therefore there are way more variables on the table to analyze.

Ok, just finished reading patch note.
Base on numbers as the patch not live yet.

• Overall going in th good direction.

• changes for composite and simplify base synergie is very good

• unfortunately as usual when something slighltly overperform (psion empath in this cas), yes slightly cause was still beatable, your nerf are always huge, i can be wrong, but base on the numbers psion empath will now not even be playable
  I don t know why you don t like small buff and nerf and always go hard core.

Rogues stage 1 have been nerfed to the ground, stage 2 with the lost of blind on dust, will be not very good, stage 3 with frost will be the best comp for this patch, we will see alot of these

• the nerf on dodge for air and tempest was definitely unnecessary, it was quite "where it s supposed to be"

I can be wrong, but to summarize i think the direction is good, we gonna a good experience with this patch until we gonna get bored with s3 rogues.

We will at the end have a very fun game, i am confident with that because of the good work you are doing.

Lastly, i really hope the backend team are working, because in the last 3 years they always have been the week link, really far beahind art, ui, front end ....
We need the bug fixes and the game stable, and no it s not just "no worry with multiplayer architecture all will be fine"

@twilit storm i'm in the middle of my first game and i'm already not liking the changes, its again an all or nothing comp the combo comps of the last patch are not viable. maybe i'll find some more but it seems now its pure paper rock scissors

Like seriously think we should rollback the balance changes in this patch . I don't see any value added in this patch, The Synergy Balance Changes throw off the whole game forcing you into comps that are mutch heavier 7 rouges , 7 fighers ( for little trade off ) , Previous patch was better balanced and more flexible builds to adjust on the fly this one feels like if you don't get the comp you just lose. IMO

I'll play a few games and just wait for the next balance patch . Not a fan

After a few games I'm pretty sure meta is stupid out of balance there are 2 good comps and that's it. (That I've found so far) Ui improvements are Amazing, Stability feels much better weapon changes make more seasons but I would advocate and may right up an iip that we revert the balance and synergy system back to the previous patch this was way to big a change we have previously given the feedback we don't like this synergy balance 2,3,5,7,9 and they did it again for some reason . Just my feedback but seems all the top players have same feedback this is a less skillfull patch

Exactly. The previous meta heavily favored basic synergies, which wasn’t ideal since the endgame should revolve around composites. To address this, we’ve significantly increased their power level. Now, failing to plan and build for composite development will put you at a severe disadvantage against opponents who do.

For instance, while 3 Arcanite can handle several scenarios, a setup like 4 Wildfire, 2 Colossus, 2 Predator, and 3 Aegis delivers far more power on the board.

In summary, basic synergies are now positioned as foundational tools for the early to mid-game. To truly succeed and secure victories, players must focus on transitioning to composites for the endgame.

Like you could choose an eco buff and lvl up fast, or a physical atk dmg/op/manareg buff, or Cc Stuff Like you stun all enemies for x sec. AT Start of each round, or getting Space for an additional illuvial, or knocking 4 random enemy illuvials out of their Position AT round Start(basically the middlefinger to all the corner comps xD), or whatever... Endless possibilities, supporting all compositions and basically somewhat locking your strategy or Make you super flexible

The latest updates have brought some noticeable gameplay changes, and it’s been great to see more strategies becoming viable. I’ve been experimenting with different comps each time, and it’s really satisfying to see wins come from such a variety of approaches.

Corner strategies are still an option but feel much less dominant now, which is a relief. It’s nice to finally move past the corner meta.

There’s definitely still a lot of work ahead, but comparing where we are now to just two months ago, the progress is encouraging. We’ve planned our first sprint for next year, and it includes some nice updates: better UI, gameplay tweaks, and quality-of-life improvements and tools for onboarding new players.

We’re also looking to add more personality to certain composites with cooler effects and upgraded VFX, but this might come in the second or third release.

I’m honestly really excited for what’s ahead in 2025. Not just for Arena, but for Illuvium overall. There’s always room to improve, and I’m grateful for the feedback and support from everyone along the way.
