Not a fan of the "pay for additional builder" either. Especially since it is known that you can buy speed ups anyways. Would have done it with unlocking through achievements on your progress or something like that.

I wish the team will shed some light on IZ Builders IAP before Season 1. I am concerned that the game development simply relies on IAP to balance the early stage of the game. I am especially concerned that Season 1 players will be required to additionally spend IAP to take full advantage of their early-stage investment, also considering the patience shown before starting to earn.
What is IAP? In app purchases? If so I don't think that's a thing.

It’s wild that you can overcome the debuff of the crypton convertor next to crypton convertor with enough power plants. It’s so pretty.
I will say that in the current beta of the overworld it doesn’t cost HYPERION to cure shards, but eventually it will. I feel like many people underestimate the potential demand for hyperion and overestimate the demand for crypton. But maybe that’s just my copium.

There's also Solon required for upgrades, and that's barely ever mentioned. Yet upgrades are kinda important for doing anything in Overworld. So I'm probably going to have one plot for each type of fuel in the end...

Hey everyone, here we go for a progress update on IZ! Sorry about missing it yesterday, I was off for birthday reasons 😅
As we move toward season 1 release, these updates will switch more and more to how we are progressing on the beta. As promised, this will start coming with a few leaks for your beautiful eyes only 😌
- 0.1.6 is currently undergoing final tests before we release to production. We are still on track for a release this week and then off we go to season 1, hopefully next week or by 3rd week of may latest!
- blueprint minting feature is in serious mode, getting ready to test contracts and flow ingame!
- on the beta, we've made sure that the game comes back to normal levels of performance and size and I'm happy to share some numbers here: mobile and desktop beta versions are all under 150MB fully built with all assets, and since the plan is to externalize some of these assets at some point, the client is going to get even smaller!
- in more beta news, the team has been killing it on improving login flow, camera inputs (think zoom out) and general UI stability
- on the art side, our very own @wild star has been doing amazing VFX for plots, as shown in the sneak peak with this post

- we've also been working a lot on sound design internally so expect the beta to sound as crisp as the THX test scene! Subwoofers recommended for future versions
- we've been closely monitoring Apple's obligations to open up sideloading on iOS, but it seems they are reserving it for Europe only. Here's hoping that they take a good decision (for once), but in any case, iOS players are very much on our minds for beta and the WebGL build is shaping up to be a great alternative! If we can get native iOS sideloading, you'll be the first to know 🙂

Is there a chance we do not get another reset after Season 1? I am just saying this because high tier land owners won't have any incentive to keep playing once they got all the alpha BP
Additionally, not resetting the land would be nice for those who have been through all delays and can start generating fuel/higher tier BP after Alpha

It may lead to an oversupply of fuel at the start of the beta which could lead to a dump in land prices.
Additionally, the early game and balancing around how long it takes to build up a plot would not be tested so the next land sale would have more uncertainties. A reset (shortly) before Beta was promised and is beneficial for the development of the game.
We haven't tested enough that we do not know how long does it take to build up a plot?

How did you zoom out on your plots to take the picture?
Season 1 of alpha will be all about balancing everything over again. So the early game will similarly see balancing and will likely take a different amount of time than what it will at the start of Season 1.
fair enough but, again, there's no incentive for high tier land owners to keep playing after getting the BP and those will get them quite fast
The thing about balancing in games are that no matter what you do, something will always be the "best" thing to do, or more efficient than everything else. And once players figure this out it'll become overused and considered broken/unbalanced. And when rebalancing this, something else will become optimal... And so on.
The high-tier lands will also likely be sped up to infinity regardless. Progress of Tier 1-2s will be the more important metrics.
I would appreciate if the team reads the comment above. I have seen so many changes already that makes buying anything not a good move until the full balance is done

This is true to an extent, but optimal isn’t known for a good while.
I love the case study of super smash bros melee. There’s been a thriving esports scene for 20+ years. And you can look at the tier lists over the years. It wasn’t “known” that fox was the best character for years after launch. And even now there is still swapping and debate over which characters are better. Players can show that a mid tier character was being underutilized and move them up tier lists all these years later.
This isn’t an apples to apples comparison though, as tier lists for PvP games depend on how characters perform against other high tiers. IZ may be a bit easier to figure out the “optimal” path. I just love pointing to smash when people call for crazy balancing changes to characters in games after 1 day of playing. I hope arena won’t be like that.
You are talked Ng about the very first Set of bp's... If second wave launches, all Lands gona be Max anyways, i rather habe then a higher Chance to get bp's, for the Rest of the time this ip exists.
Besides, just because you Speed up, doesn't give you a guaranteed rare drop, you can just play the lottery a bit earlier.
Hey fam! Where can i read about wiping up our progress again before beta? Last time i was asking it was only before season 1 and in season 1 all your progress is saved and if you sell land - you sell everything built on that land. What have changed? What is the point of season 1 then? Why not keeping season 0 and delivering updates till beta and then wipe it once. What is the point for us to start from scratch and then again, one more time start from scratch in beta? Sorry, not getting it 🙏
How long that while is depends entierly on the complexity of the game though.
for IZ there's basically only two different things to aim for: Blueprints or Fuel, so the time needed to find which is the more optimal ir relatively short compared to a PvP game with 15+ characters that all interact with each other differently.
Yeah definitely. “Optimal” should be close to be figured out rather soon after launch. Of course you need to know how to get there for your specific plot
I'm sure most players who are going to optimize one way or another will get most of their planning done during season 1 (assuming nothing added at the start of the beta completely throws the gameplay in a different direction), so it should be fairly clear very quickly once prices on fuels and the rarity of high level prints are discovered.

So v1.5 was the last balance update before season 1? We should see version 1.6 soon and then season 1 start but there won’t be any balance changes made between now and season 1 launch?
Nothing to do with me feeling Bad about the "pay to be able to keep up" implementqtions. I always try to Make rational decisions, and not emotional ones.
Ofc there will be many who will pay, it's still crypto Space, and a Lot of them probably spent their money Way worse already, so they don't feel Bad for paying extra.
Idk what time period "Long Long Long" is. But we don't know droprates of bp's yet, we don't know how exactly the bonding curve Hits. There will be some Players who spend, almost instantly build up their plot and Start scanning/resewrching af, and some of them will be lucky to get the first ones which they can sell. Don't expect everybody who will speed up getting bp's Like shit.
We also don't know what landprices will do. I expect the prices will rise, because the game is life and people actually can Profit from their investement. If the Games attract the Masse, they will rise fast. So me personally with the data provided rather Grab some cheap Lands than taking a certain chance (my expactation is low Chance) to get the very first bp's of the very first Set.
Also the game just started, there won't be many Players buying skins in the first few weeks i guess. So "skin production people" most likely wait until the prices drop, because the dude who got the first bp sells it for 100eth

I am thinking about getting a second builder if the price is not abusive. If it is, I´ll just go with one and if it takes 8 months so be it. If the builder is around 1000$ or less I think it is interesting but if it is more... and I fear it will be... I´ll just stick to one.
megacities will only be implemented in a future update anyway right? so by that time you have prob built up your lands to almost max.... but yeah i guess it would make sense for them to have 4/9 builders

First they have to collect data for some time to calc the economy and If they have a vision of 20 years, i guess they Split it up so they release all Land in maybe 10-15 years. But who knows...

yeah i havent even played all my lands yet and surely not optimized... would have prob been a waste of time anyway cause when things change i would have to change my loadouts as well all the time... prob better to wait for final game release and then optimze them on the go... especially when mc's are already a thing by that time
I think things will continue to change as we get closer to open beta (which might be a year or more away according to some). I think the converters have already been nerfed in a logical way since the first release but I think this beta is a way for them to see how things are exploited… if you put a zillion of power stations you can currently put different converters close to one another.. this has been confirmed to change. With sense; no need to buy a T4 if you can just compensate a T1 with enough converters and power stations.

But think this time is exactly for that. I assume and hope they will reach that conclusion as well
I do want to note that neither Fuel Producing, Scanning, or Research Activities can be sped up, so yes you will get to end-game quicker if you pay for speed-ups and thus have some advantage to getting firsts, but once at end-game there is parity
The idea with blueprint rarity is that the curves for the higher level blueprints are such that only a small number of holders get them, it may well be that some blueprints are never discovered, just like some combinations of Illuvitars aren't loaded.

Imagine the skin you love and would buy, never will be for sale because the BP for it never got minted.
That's probably the one thing about Illuvium's design that I feel is off.
Some things are made to be extremely rare or limited, to the point where there's a risk of never being minted at all. This, in my opinion defeats the whole purpose of being a game focused on collectibles or collecting in general.
The one thing that's appealing to me with other franchises is that eventually completing a collection is entierly based on the effort (or money) you put into it.
So far I've seen multiple instances in design that is geared towards making completion impossible, which I fear is going to be a major downside when trying to attract a larger audience of players. (Yes, I know not everyone is a perfectionist or completionist, but these particular groups would be very hard to attract with designs like this).

Maybe it attracts even more people because it is almost impossible, who knows. I definetly like the fact that it is hard to get, so an average player doesn't walk arround every collections completed... But, almost impossible? Not sure how that will play out.
I guess it comes down to the question of how much the average player spends on the game, and how long they stick around and how many they are.

Like, imagine there are illuvials in the real world. You have limited time to catch them before they dissapear forever. So you are going to make a plan for a route where it is very likely to Find the illuvials you wana have in your Deck. Theres no Way to catch even half of them, because they are spread out in the entire world.... Some in Himalaya, some in the deepest seas, some Deep in the rain forrest etc.
Ramphyre nests might only be spottet in active volcanos so you probably never get one if you are not crazy enough to climb into many active volcanos 😂

Maybe I'm just too used to games being based on skills/mechanics, compared to scarcity of what you can use.
I mean for your generic trading card game you eventually establish a meta of what works and what doesn't, and certain cards gain or lose value accordingly.
Having a system more based on rarity where you can't just pick the "best" strategy, buy a deck and compete, could prove interesting.
Guess I'll have to wait and see on that one.

Hello guys new am thinking to buy a land I got a little knowledge by reading the white paper but as you there is always things you don't get so any advices will bee great and I have. Been curious if a buy tier 1 with 3 elements does this land get to generate the 3 types of fuels or you can get them thru the converter converting elements to fuel resources
Any plot can generate all 3 types of resources (if they don't have the specific node to mine directly, then through converters), same for the 3 fuels.
Sorry to ask so much but I saw lands for example that doesn't have carbon it have 2 hydrogen and the other element in tier1

They can only generate the elements and fuel that is on the land. But you can convert them with converter's to the missing elements and fuel.
So if you need carbon because you don't have it on your Land. Build the specific converter and your good

Yeah, but I'm only on the seller side myself, so I love it. What I don't love, is 15 BPs that everyone has a chance to get. I don't think those will be worth anything, even years from now. As a player, I don't care about aesthetics, I'll wear the wackest skin in the game. 😆
The first 15 aren't meant to be worth anything, they're meant to be used to test that the system is functional before the release of open beta (as far as I understood it).
When would be the latest this week we would get notice of the upcoming 0.1.6 release Julien alluded to in the pinned post? They would likely want to announce it a day or so in advance right? So if we don't hear by tomorrow then likely won't release til next week?
Think the latest zero updates have come like 5 mins after the new update is available for download.

The background colors indicate the tier of the land plot. The spots on the land plot indicate what type of resources are available and where they are located on that land plot.

I think many would say crypton for traveling. But I think Hyperion for curing shards. I think someone even said Solon for crafting, since so many people like skins.
You can use converters in the #🎮〕illuvium-zero game to change the type of fuel you have anyways. So it’s not super important what fuel site you have on your land.

Is anyone having trouble going online with Illuvium zero? I can't seem to reconnect
hey everyone, some news from the front: we are pushing 0.1.6 to next monday, we're a little late on the testing, but nothing critical. Just timing being weird tomorrow for the other teams, and we don't want to overlap with their processes 🙂 thanks everyone for your patience 🙏

I find it really annoying to double click each one if you play like 1 plot okay but for 20 and more plots its a faq torture 😅

a lot of mobile games give automation to higher vip levels.. if someone with 20 plots wants to pay for automation, and the price is right, maybe it could make sense
could be a one time fee, could be a tax of 30% fuel output
or staking ILV (like a certain threshold)
Maybe 3 buttons, Max Fuel Profit, Max Blueprint Profit or Max Both Profit. You install the game, click the appropriate button and check back every year to see how much you made!
staking is misused so often, and this would be a great example. forcing someone into what is likely a +ev move anyway (long term hold of ILV) and give them OP land as well is a bit silly. Doesn't generate any revenue, makes game seem pay to win, and puts web3 ponzi elements in the foreground

metamask is just like a browser for your crypto stuff, so i would still recommend using metamask (personal opinion, not OFFICIAL advice) but protect your funds with hardware wallet (ledger, trezor) connected to MM

MM is very trusted wallet and bot most likely got access to your account by signing some transaction you were asked for on some random website or your seed phrase was stolen

Yes. That’s sounds right. Just make sure you are connected to the right website.
Once your metamask wallet is setup to control a wallet on imx (which it sounds like that’s what you just finished doing) then you can make a purchase on the IlluviDex. You’ll see your nfts you buy on the IlluviDex. Not on ethereum mainnet or opensea.
Sorry I don’t really know when it will be. The lead dev did say in the pinned message that it should be sometime in the second or third week of may.

You use your metamask wallet extension to control your wallet on IMX L2. It works the same on every IMX marketplace as it does on the IlluviDex.

We will put forward a proposal soon. The idea is no rails, but some content patches available to boost production if demand is high.
If demand is lower than supply things will just get cheaper. The player base should decide the price.
Also considering disallowing second buyers (non ILV:Z people, those just buying fuel from the pool) from selling fuel. Only converting to other fuels. This will stop a lot of speculation.
We can avoid arbitrage with enough liquidity. I have a crazy plan for that. But it wouldn’t pass.
I have some ideas for offering an Illuvium fuel bond for those who want to speculate. Pays out yield on the bond in the fuel the bond is derived from just as a traditional natural resource bond. Pricing of the bond based on yield and offers a passive inflow of fuel for speculative investment opportunity. Also nets upfront sales for revenue, not ironed out all the kinks but something I am looking at.
I’m incredibly sceptics about anything to encourage speculation without doing it through game actions.
But maybe some IL:Z primitives e.g. a Bank building that would allow us to sell financial products to a certain demographic that e.g. prefers a monthly fuel subscription in USD etc. ? Maybe this is what Josh meant.
I doubt the massive complexities of that make the effort even worth entertaining. If someone wants to consider the monumental list of variables please do.
I don't see a benefit to encouraging speculation on fuels. There's enough of it elsewhere (Lands, Illuvials, Skins, Blueprints, Shards, Equipment) and adding another level of speculation on the one thing that enables the game to function would essentially be akin to building a house of cards with fuel being the bottom layer.
Disturb the bottom layer too much and the whole thing will come crashing down.
Agreed, the only financial product I could see at the moment is one that abstracts away the fuel price fluctuation.

Illuvium Zero Tech Update [05/01 - 05/05]
Hey everyone, here we go for a progress update on IZ!
So as you've probably seen by now, v0.1.6 has been out for a few hours. Like the patch notes said, this is mostly an exploit fix and background tooling for season 1. Which by the way is entering its final testing phase! Our QA is verifying that all is fine with the season 1 client version, which will be 0.2.0, and we'll be validating everything else this week. This includes making sure that the backend data wipe works well, that there are no issues with brand new saves, and that login doesn't spontaneously breaks like last week 
Otherwise, the devteam is still focusing on beta and blueprint minting:
- on the beta, we've done a whole lot of cleanup in our code, assets and even game feel. The beta will feel snappier, more responsive. We've removed a lot of unoptimized code in particular, which contributes a lot to this overall feeling. Can't wait to show this to everyone!
- moreover, @wild star is still doing amazing work on plot VFX. Today, a small sample of the Abyssal Basins

- on the minting side, we're moving fast. Our backend team is working on validation while we get the contract ready!

It is out of my price range right now, in the beginniong I have been looking at the region as asthetics. Now after more study I think if you are looking for blueprints having multiple regions that have different afinities is best. That does not really add monetary value to a region for me.
Yeah, that's why I got abyssal basin, because the affinities. Nature illuvials are cool, tanky, and bad ass. Reminds me of vinesaur from pokemon.
There also might be some sense in having all your plots in the same region if the fee for moving resources changes by distance
I like having one Abyssal and one Crystal Shores it gives pretty good affinity on everything.

its not mine pic xD not sure how math looks exactly but its way harder to find stuff with scanners (biodata) and stuff from scanners is needed for material labs, so you need more scanners to keep steady supply of biodata for Labs (i think, getting late here ^^ )
you find all biodata, you done with it, you can chill and process it in Material Labs
not really, biodata is very very hard to find, and you get only 3 blueprints as for now per biodata in this alpha
Biodata is harder to find than blueprints, and you will be limited to finding a blueprint once per land/wallet combination. So eventually you will be stuck on not having researchable biodata (at least for tier 1 illuvials, it might be a different story once higher tiers are released).

Not in season 1. The only thing to keep from season 1 is blueprints.
The alpha testing for Illuvium: Zero is expected to be split into two seasons.
We are currently in Season 0. At the end of this season, all data, including blueprints, will be wiped and reset. The purpose of Season 0 is to allow the development team to fix bugs and balance issues and to prevent any issues that may arise if player data needs to be reset before moving on to Season 1.
After Season 0, the game will move on to Season 1, which will last until the open beta stage. Another data reset is expected at the end of Season 1. However, players will be able to mint the blueprints they researched as NFTs during the last few months of Season 1. Those minted NFTs will persist beyond the Alpha data reset and can be used to craft skins in the Overworld once we reach the Open Beta.
More information on the minting windows will be provided as the game approaches the open beta stage.
Once you find a specific blueprint on a land you cannot find it again on that land while it's linked to your account. I'll see if I can find the post detailing it.

No, it will reset one more time between Alpha and Beta.

I believe that's to not lock players out of finding prints already found on a land they buy from someone else.

Yes, but if Biodata is also tied to the account, you'd still have to scan for it then research the print, so lots of extra work. (But still technically infinite).
Don't forget there's talk of making the find ratio of prints go down every time one is found
in a way, it's to reward early adopters.. and people who want those blueprints can buy them from those who found them. 20k is alot for a single blueprint already
rarity matters as well, chances of finding a T5 print will probably be extremely low compared to a T1
yes and that's fine, but potentially flooding the market with 100k of the low end blueprints while there are only 20k plots of land is bad imo
at least make them worth something...
chances are the find ratio will drop even for those, so even with 20k lands we'll probably never see anywhere near 20k prints of any one type
people who buy land after will have the chance to get future blueprints, of new illuvials that come out, i think that's incentive enough to buy
also, keep in mind that a lot of lands will be making fuel, not blueprints
depends on how the adjust the ratio... which would also mean, blueprints will be capped at around 20k anyway... or at a certain amount.. except it wouldn't be bound by land, but by active plots... that i guess i can get behind.
i'm going to have to guess that T4 lands will go all out on fuel, where as the lower tiers will be mainly for blueprints, and maybe a combination of both for T3
I'm pretty sure Jeremy stated that the ratios for higher level prints will be set that some prints may even only be printed once (or not at all)

I don't think they're capping season 1 prints in any way (besides a short enough minting window so you can't transfer lands and make multiple prints off one plot)

I have resolved my "please check your internet connection" error.

Previous update talked about Beta being 150 MB with all assets. 3d pinned post.
Not sure why this may not be added in the alpha but I expect it to take significant time. I would rather have the team push out a big working lump sooner, than polish it for another 2 months being smaller but featuring the same gameplay. 🙂

PB1 stands for Private Beta 1. Not pre-beta.
It means that it will still be for land owners and not the open public.

At what level have you guys reached before you were able to get scanners?
Where can I find some more infos on blueprints? If I have a blueprint I can mint it for free to an NFT and afterwards sell on marketplace, correct?
Also for the people with multiple land plots, how do you expect/figured out how you’ll manage all of them? My concern isn’t so much the waiting for upgrades, it’s the constant collection of elements in order to have enough for those upgrades. I can’t wrap my head around how it’ll be manageable for ppl that own 2+ land plots

Yes. During season 1 you will find biodata and thereby blueprints through playing the game.
The blueprints will initially be regular data but once the minting process is ready, you will be able to mint a blueprint on the IMX L2. The exact minting process isnt shared yet. It should be mostly free, but you may have to spend some fuel as per the lore to either create the blueprint or research the biodata.
Once the blueprint is minted, it will be added to the Ethereum blockchain as an NFT that can then be traded sold on the market or used in the illuvium ecosystem at a later date. (Think Open Beta or maybe Overworld beta 4 orso [unconfirmed])
So make sense to find as much as possible of bio data…😉

Via Scanner I got biodata. How do I get then blueprints?
The singularity scanner scans for the biodata, and the materials lab allows you to research each biodata.
You will likely have 2/3 common biodata and then 2 very rare ones

Season one means the alpha version where the game mechanics are balanced around constant gameplay.
The game will be reset at least once more before the open beta (Q4)

IOS will not be featured in the near future. I think the team plans to have a webGL version ready before the open beta though to allow you to play even on IOS. The apple store has stringent regulations for web-3 games.

Apparently. At least for now. They might change their minds on that if the models they come up with doesn't do what they're expecting, or if it hurts the early game too much.
Yeah, the details we were given seem unneccesarily complex compared to just dropping the boost radius of power stations from 6 to 4 tiles. This would cut the fuel production of endgame converter builds by about 30-50% (didn't do the actual math yet, just an estimate), while maintaining relatively small drawbacks for early game resource converters for instance (most notable on lands that are missing one or two resource types).
That is if changes have to be made to power stations at all.
If the issue (as I understood it) is the relative production between Converters/Extractors (at least according to last update on the matter from Julien), then it should be far easier to just tweak numbers on either of those types of buildings.
Maybe they don't really want to influence the gap between Tiers with that change, but rather try to make it not as easy to build up the unbalanced low Tiers as it is right now.
that's a good point, hamster. i'm guessing including it in the beta was a typo and its going to be phased into the alpha
like it's a change that hasn't happened yet but is something that needs to happen, so he adds it there not realizing what you just said is a huge issue.. it's near the end of the list right? maybe it shifted from 'beta' to stuff not in working version of alpha but needs to happen asap

The idea is that generally all plots within a tier should be fairly equal. Plots with balanced resources are a bit easier to play though.

no date set. what I took from what was said was: The team hopes to have it done at the quickest 1 week after the latest alpha update (so during next week), and by the latest around the third week of may (so the week after). But that's the roadmap for when nothing crazy bad happens

Fuel generation is tied to the launch of the game. Blueprints will be the sole things that will be added to the next season of Illuvium Zero.
The blueprints of season one are more of a collectible/gift NFT that aren't rare if everyone were to play the game.
Once Fuel generation begins, all three games will be close to finished and lands will become the foundation of the entire ecosystem. Yes, that will probably impact the value of lands. (lands produce 5% of the in-game currencies used to progress in the game on which the DAO basically bases its own 95% production.)

what happens in the current idea of fuel sales is that the lands produce a certain amount of fuel, and put that in the balancer pool of respective Fuel/Eth. The DAO then mints an amount equal to 19x of that and also puts that in the pool. so 19/20 fuel comes from the DAO and revenue goes back to the ILV stakeholders.
So DAO is going to sell the Fuel permanently, or only initially and when fuel price goes more than 25% form initial price?

It goes over the 25% rails. I personally think that the rails will be changed to an open-market type of thing. Aaron said in the last Town Hall that he was having concerns around the Fuel mechanics which were one of the final things that kept him up at night.
It is a topic that lies at the very base of the entire economy, and it is something nobody has every done before. It has to be perfect to balance the entire project on top of it 😄

In there, Vetemor argues that you could get a speculatory aspect to fuel if Fuel becomes worth more when demand is high and less if players play less.
If you take Nijafe's idea of game prices being pegged to dollar costs, the value of Fuel, with their low market caps, will become highly speculative and easily manipulated.
So i think a true fluctuating price of game-progression would make more sense. Maybe it will cost 20$ to buy an Atlas. If people value Atlas that highly, then the fuel value will rise as well as people will buy more fuel and try to catch more Atlas since it is profitable. This will bring atlas values back down and by the same logic, Fuel as well.
The moment that you put fuel into the pool from your land, the Dao will add 19X that amount and I think you would get 1/20th of the entire value of that clump in eth back. That would make the most sense to me.
So the game will need a really huge demand to not make the fuel price come to zero in that case.
What if you only produce 20 fuel on a day with one land, and it costs 5000 fuel to travel?
Then you dont need a huge demand. The numbers would just be very skewed :p

yeah it totally depends on the demand by the playerbase. 🙂
But if there are 1M players, then the cost only has to be like 1$ for you to get the 2$ per day orso (random numbers xD). It's basically 5% of all in-game revenue going to the landowners. and then you have to check which fraction of the lands you produce and that dictates your share of the in-game revenue.
they can easily add events that add or decrease x% fuel production on lands in a certain region. If things go too fast they add a 10% fuel reducing rainstorm in alternating regions and otherwise add productivity by up to like 60%.
After the 60% is reached they can then allow for the next landsale to be held or something 👀
it would be OK for the lore as well: The good weather, and the ease of access within the regions has allowed our drones to uncover new land! blabla
Yea the 5% of the pie going to land owners and 95% to stakers never really made sense to me. Shouldn't the pll who are generating the fuel be the ones to get compensated? It's the whole point many ppl bought land. I could see it being 50/50 but 5/95 doesn't make sense and I'm curious to see how land prices fluctuate depending on demand for fuel. If landowners spend $10k+ on a tier 4 and only earn $5 a day that's a Big L
Also I'm in favor of no price guardrails. Let the free market decide the price. If you want to limit speculation and lrice manipulation then I think Aaron said something about limiting fuel to not be sellable on the open market and only within game. Not sure how that would actually be implemented tho

Yes it will be difficult to estimate how many players will adopt Illuvium, and the price may blow up if there are no guard rails. If then the price is so high that people can't get in, they have to spend 50$ for a run, it may turn away a lot of players. which may result in the DAO making adjustments, but the people already leaving. The same is true the other way around, but less problematically. You can get the NFT's very cheaply, which allows you to play the game, and that will increase interest because you can play a cool game for basically free right?
With my meager calculations, solely taking the production boost as the stat to determine the output of a land, T4 lands produce 1/3d of all the fuel of the previous batch. As you said before, T4 lands will probably be boosted within a few days, which means that it would not necessarily take months to have the land ramp up. Planning the sale in advance based on user acquisition should not be too difficult, especially if you market the introduction of new lands and thereby a period of expected fuel-overflow -> Lower prices for runs.
I do agree that the 1:19 ratio may upset the landholders and I have thought about increasing the percentage that goes to the landowners whenever new lands are sold. But then the same issue would be true for the ILV holders who would then get less revenue. It's the same issue on both sides. So in that case, Lands should have a clear extended use-case to make up for the decreasing revenue that they get from fuel production. This could be in the form of NFTs that are forged on the plots or otherwise. You can't halve the revenue of fuel from lands without a clear replacement. (game 3?)
The difficult mechanic of Lands is that they are a drain of the revenue for the project, without (I think) a clear design that leads people to put the money back in. You buy land once, and will then indefinitely be able to pull money out of the project. Now that isn't a problem, but the team may have to change this once the landowners have seen enough ROI.
5$ a Day for a t4 would require a huuuge playerbase, don't expect that in the first year. But yea i feel ya, 5% is pretty low. Don't buy Land to Profit with fuel. If you wana Profit with fuel buy IlV. Land is basically just about the BP lottery for now.
@radiant sky Why is ILV more profitable for fuel? Is it just because selling fuel increases the value of staked ILV?
I actually have to do the math first but i'm already in my Way to sleep 😂, but Land hold their price better than ilv, and when ilv was arround 68$ you would have produced more fuel for your Buck out of ilv than any t Land.
The dao gets 95% of all fuel revenue, it's 5% for the landowners.
Specifically replying to land owners being a drain to the project: its the same thing as ILV stakers. They suck it all out via rev dis just disproportionately. Also, isn't buying land conceptually comparable making an investment in a company that then pays dividends later. Those investors have thr option to take the money and use it elsewhere or reinvest into the ecosystem. I don't see how ILV token stakes should be disproportionately compensated when the land holders are the ones who who made the larger upfront investment. (I own both btw just making my case for fairness to land holders)
I actually added ILV in my message but before I sent i removed it.
Because ILV holders, if they hold, actually increase the value of ILV and thereby increase the spending power of the treasury. So, yes the money flows out of the project but at least they add value to the treasury's tokens if they hold :].
Also, there are other sources/opportunities for revdis that ILV stakers have access to but land holders don't: merch store, illuvitars, IAPs. Land holders get a mere 5% of what their sole purpose was for being made and then blueprints which is a big unknown perk. Limited to the future other revenue generating operations and limited in its own purpose (fuel).
Well holding doesn't technically guarantee increased value. The value is determined on the margin of whatever a buyer and seller agree to exchange it for. Holding creates lower liquidity which can act in the other direction too and cause a big drop in price if no buyers step up.
