May be an unpopular opinion but I'd really suggest the staff to refrain from talking about other projects. Nothing to be gained from trashing other games.

Shows their confidence and high standards. Holds them accountable to producing something that will blow everything else out the water as well. The creators have been very supportive of upcoming projects in the scene and havve collabed with a few already. Only criticism I have seen was on their own personal accounts so they have every right to express their thoughts.

I couldn't give a lesser crap about axie, still I don't think it's the right way to go about things to talk negatively in the game's discord about other projects. Personal accounts? I think in terms of axie and other projects, trashing the greedy moves by the developers should absolutely be welcomed. Fills me with confidence as an investor tbh that kieran wont do the same because of his disgust he expressed in reference to this.

Axie is making me entrance money to Illuvium. Will be able to get top of the line pc so I can enjoy it more. Cant hate on Axie tho, it's a decent android game i play while i'm at work. Everyone who disregards other people's work is disrespectful. Ofcourse Axie cant compare to a tripple A game, but its something, and millions play it.

Illuvium is concibed as a true GAME which will atrackt people because of the game experience itself and also the p2e concept, but his first goal is to atrackt players

Criticism into something that is already big is a way of making your product visible, I think Kieran and some members of the team use that as a marketing strategy more than actually hating on Axie itself since they just want to reach Axie playerbase

I hear ya. I played for a couple months, but gameplay got repetitive. I still breed now and am taking those profits for Illuvium. It serves a purpose for me. I enjoyed the card game more at first, there is some strategy but it's too simple and I stopped playing when I was only playing for the money not for fun.

Not to begin with. Maybe never. We want them to be pretty clear, and having multiple versions could confuse that.

Imagine the higher the upgrades of the weapon the cooler execution/effects of the omega skill it can get . leaving a slight headache to the players what to upgrade first, illuvials or the human char equipment.

There are lots of things we want to do eventually, but can't focus on for now. Things like different looks for the Illuvials need to wait until they are fully iconic. I think the same goes for weapons.

It won't be about how many Illuvials you can have on the board. It is about the energy that it takes to put that Illuvial on the board.

For example:
You have 100 energy.

• Ramphyre costs 35
• Atlas costs 5

You could have up to 20 Atlas' or 2 Ramphyres.

TFT isn't based on energy. It is based on level. And unit slots. You could put all the 5 cost units down if you wanted to.

Illuvium will be different in that respect.

It is completely different. The only similarity is that the Illuvials you own will show up as cards. There will not be a rolling shop for you to 'level' them up during the battle. In the PvP you will take turns to place Illuvials down to try and counter each other. I like to think of it like champion select in a game of LoL or DotA, and then the battle board plays out the team and placement that you have made.

Yea i know there is no shop.
For the PVP, both players will place their illuvials at the same time with time limit (both players can see each other placing)
Then there will be secret move that both players do that the other players will not know.
This is explained by aaron in interview.

My note from Aaron explanation

1. We will have time limit to deploy illuvials on the board
2. Both players can see each other deployment
   (Similar to TFT up to this point)
3. Both player then can do another move that the other player can't see (this feature is not available in TFT)
4. Then the auto battle begin
5. Who win that round will deal damage to player character based on their alive illuvials
6. Back to 1. But player can totally remove their previous illuvials that was on board and counter the enemy with completely different illuvials.
7. First player hp that reach 0 = lose
8. In PVP it will be round system, similar to TFT

This is only in pvp, pve will have survival mode and single round mode

The one thing I think that makes this better than TFT already is 1 . you have to own the illuvials your fighting with 2 Your team is not "random" <-- this annoys me and I couldn't get into TFT for solely this reason 3. it feels more like a game of MTG you build your deck then play . I probably will play both ranked and Leviathan. I hope you did not get the impression I dismissed rank because of it I would prefer a point system over random, like TFT .

I don't personally like the term P2W probably because I played paper MTG for so long and have herd it all.

The reason for my distain for the term this is It invalidates the value of creating a collections and it renders any argument down to traditional board game status such as
chess or go as does "supposed to be fair" comment . I just don't want ranked to become nothing more than "chess" with illuvals and better graphics.

the fact that you have to own the illuvials i comforting / the fact that there is stat disparity between iluvails of the same name is comforting aswell

The term also seems to disregard a design plan that made it the longest running fantasy card game in history and preserved card value in which decks/ cards on the secondary market are still worth a great deal as a viable business strategy.

I give the team great accolades for actually having the foresight to make 2 arenas to accommodate both sides and trying to find a middle ground as you did with blending the game as FTP and P2P. This will ensure **"fairness" ** in the way that **everyone who plays financially supports the game in some way if they want to progress past F2P. ** unlike the majority of games in the FTP genre where the majority literally pay zero and the game is carried by those who do.

I would add a counterpoint slightly as whilst MTG is one of my key inspirations behind some of the design, there is a limit to how far we can take learnings/lessons from MTG.

To give an example - our top end pricepoint gameplay is very different.

An original Black Lotus is pretty much the highest value card IIRC. And in mint condition you could be paying low 6figures USD for one. That's a card almost 30 years old and the next most expensive are many times less expensive. 5x less for the next. Whereas we are in an entirely different ball park. Our best Illuvials are going to be so rare that they might not ever even exist, (a perfect Rhamphyre for example) at which point I don't know where the price might settle. But the result will be one-off uniques powerwise existing and people potentially being able to make utterly unique decks that likely can't be beaten. If some Billionaire comes in and buys every every perfect Illuvial that arrives on the market. At which point if we are to do that then we need to have a fair mode that allows normal people to play competitively.

I dont think he was being disrespectful. He seemed to be using the success of the illuvium trailer to highlight the sentiment of the broader community, and TBH, I cant say his assessment is totally wrong. Here in South Korea, I have several friends in the E-sports gaming space (players, commentators, designers, investors, incubators, etc), and they all -politely- say the same thing.. The trailer/leaks/teasers are beatiful and great for hype, but have nothing to do with gameplay. There's a lot of money in this project (as evident by the trialer quality), but we dont have a game yet! Like the other 200k here, I hope the game is as good as it looks, but hope isnt a product!

Gameplay was in there actually, so there's this open world which I'm linking below. And in the battles when you saw the camera flying around the board with Illuvials fighting, that's a feature for the game where you can do the same thing, so they just flew around the actual battles happening in the game engine. The only thing you didn't see was the UI. Hope that clears up what you saw in the trailer.

What Kira failed to do was research, he took the trailer at face value and didn't dig deeper. Had he spent a few hours understanding the whole project he'd have a different view of it.

The move clip with the three turtles and "deers", that one is interesting i think ive seen it before to.

What makes that one extra interesting is the fact that the low tier version seems to do his ability faster, even tho the start of the cast is at the same time. This awakens my curiousity if that means tier 0 (if thats what it is) use more abilities/minute cause of this.

Or if the theory and cooldown details is the same and its just the animation that makes it look different

so for ex if there are illuviums that have team buffs, then maybe a low tier buffer is better then high tier for some lineups/synergies, if you have a carry or something that just need that extra little push, and need that push from the buffer before the opponents get their abilities.

My idea for recruiting Staff: What about partnering with a university or school (or more then one), whatever the different countries use to teach designer/programmer/developer. Maybe give them a donation for a professorship or something like that. Maybe in some countries with lesser income even more is possible (imagine an Building sponsored by Illuvium... could be real good promotion in the news and following that other people might apply). You wont get the best of the best right now but maybe the best of the best in the future and for the future. Additionally if they work on something maybe as a project outsourced you get the professor as well. From the later years maybe you even could entice someone to come to Illuvium directly.
