Yeahhh a raid boss is something we've speculated as well... especially if the Leviathan creatures don't really play a role in the first game, as Aaron said. First game is going to solo RPG PVE when you're exploring the overworld so no group encounters like that.

It really depends on how you count the Tier 0s and the Lynx since they work a bit differently.

An Illuvial 'TYPE' is a 'Stage' of a 'Line'. If you count each Type as unique, which I definitely do, then yes there will be more than 150.

But where it gets messy is that for example, of the Tier 0s you can have 3 stages, in each affinity.

I don't count a stage 1, 2, 3, Fire Doka as all unique.

I just say that 'fire doka' is the unique one.

You are both sort of right. For the Tier 1-> 5 every stage is counted as unique

For the Tier 0 I don't count the stages as unique, but this is because tier 0 don't change every much when they fuse.

They keep the same basic shape. Whereas Atlas and Axodon are clearly very different.

So in terms of the technicalities of the game, there are well more than 150 unique.

But in terms of the spirit there are about 150.

Well, that's not 'why'. The why relates to story reasons. I'm just saying how it is.

But at a more philosophical level, I designed the story of the Tier 0 to be such that we wouldn't have to change them much.

Sort of like 'what would be a good story element to have a group of illuvials that were different, in that they didn't change much through the stages'. The purpose was always to do something around them being 'not so good'.

Everything is intentional. However there would probably be a better way to implement everything perfectly so that we have seamless transitions to mobile but with the pace we are going at we have had to do a lot of brute force.

So I think switching to mobile won’t be painless. But we just blast through it.

Is There a Connection? there are hints that Illuvium is the planet on which humanity actually originated on and the word Alluvium is a deposit of clay, silt and sand (which could be construed as a planet) (left by flowing floodwater in a river valley... space could be the water and the planet the clay, maybe a leap there lol) but heres the bit I love "typically producing fertile soil" and Illuvium is the fertile soil that not only produced the genome of humans and all life on earth and the dinosours (which is why all illuvials share similarities to prehistoric creatures) and the reason why illuvials are way more powerful than anything here on earth is that they are on Illuvium, they are at the power source, the fertile soil of creation..... @granite musk probably cannot confirm nor deny a thing but still

The Leviathan are the big baddies. The “coastguard” (rangers) gotta push them back into the sea. All illuvials are RISING from the “waters” or whatever the halcyon sea is made of.

The obelisks look like something that could spin rapidly and create a pretty serious vortex. They could raise and lower global water levels. Allowing for access to regularly submerged underwater caves.

the leviathans are the primals of illuvium. making them much more bigger cuz they lived in the planet for so long.

the obelisk in my opinion is a machine when activated produces so much minerals/gas/geologogical particles underground than these illuvials feed to, making them/the zone strong and very unstable.

Dreadnaught = Fighter + Guardian
Berserker = Fighter + Fighter
Arcanite = Psion + Fighter
Invoker = Psion + Psion
Slayer = Fighter + Rogue

I'd expect Juggernaught to have either Fighter or Guardian, but for Fighter already four combinations are known and the last "Juggernaught = Fighter + Empath" feels off to me. So probably a Guardian + Rogue maybe? Poison could fit with Rogue I guess 🙂

We have a lead writer who is working on getting the story elements written up. I did most of the plot points and now he is sharpening them, and then making them real.

As for making a movie, there's still plenty of time to 'upgrade' it. I can't promise how good it will be but I think overall I'm fairly happy with the general story line.

Some of the core contributors are well connected to the studios that do the big budget films like Avengers etc.... and they were pretty surprised that there was as much story as there was. And I think they found it to be at least 'ok'. So if we keep working we can have something good.

If we did a movie there would be differences to the game. But that's one of the reasons you don't play as the main character. That journey is just something that you will be able to experience, but not lead.

The CGI in an Illuvium movie would be absolutely top tier. @old sierra would never let it exist without it being amazing visually. But the point is that the CGI isn't the point of the movie. The story line is a very personal thing. A lot of the same themes coming up again and again.

I've always been a proponent of the idea that a story should be the equivalent of a good argument. It asks a question, looks at it from all sides, and answers it in a satisfactory way. It should be emotional.

I was just thinking about tier 0 illuvials, as one does. And If they are actually minted as an nft then they will be sold for money somewhere. It doesn’t really matter what the market says it should cost or even what the average resale value should be. I’m worried that if it’s possible to do then bad actors will take these t0s off of IMX and sell them at significant markup to the uninformed. I’d imagine There’d be no other tier0s on most NFT marketplaces so it may be hard for some to know the difference. Or maybe there’s a way to help ensure there’s good information attached to the nft. It could be the first impression that someone could have and it would be someone conning them out of their funds. While this wouldn’t really be illuvium’s fault it wouldn’t really be helping illuvium either. Do tier 0s have to be NFTs? And if t0 illuvials are NFTs what is the benefit to the DAO?

What prevents an NFT from being encoded with a percentage of future sales going to a predetermined recipient? It is certainly a thing that has been done, at least on a single market, maybe even across marketplaces.

It’s entirely possible that projects like thegivingblock and littlephil already have things in the work for allowing something like this… but for nonprofit recipients.

Even if a percentage is donated from only sales of t0 illuvials on IMX/IlluviDEX I think it could have an impact.

The auto battler is going to be awesome, the overworld is what might need more depth, but we're aware of this and without having a team twice as big, it's just simply not realistic to aim for more than we are.

The overworld gameplay is probably subservient to the core of the experience in the overworld which is finding and catching Luvi's a.k.a. opening boosters, which is completely fine with me. You shouldn't try to shoe-horn a gameplay experience into something that is not really suited for it to begin with, not unless you have the resources to completely overhaul the entire approach

An exponential progression game loop is very addictive and satisfying. Leveling characters up to beat the next difficult enemy with an element of randomness to how much you need to grind between levels. It’s the randomness that creates the addictive aspect to gameplay. Not too easy all the time, not too hard/too long where you might hit a wall and not get the dopamine of a breakthrough progression in time. My 2 cents

The way I see it, the team IS the game.
