Tether has been around for a long time. They are probably still nearly fully collateralized from all the BTC they acquired at less than $10k last cycle. I agree that its not the safest place to store cash but unless a huge number of people try to redeem all at once they will be fine. We wont see the mass redemption happen until there is a signficantly better option and USDC and other stables dont seem to fit that criteria based on the fact that tether is still standing.

If Illuvium releases in stages and the amount of content is insufficient then early players might become bored.

So I think an initial version with a significant jump in depth of story and content will be more enticing to early players. That is, only if that initial version is completely operational. It would need a marketplace, capturing illuvials, occasional hotfixes on bugs, some small changes once a while like an added tree or w/e.

I bet the actual release will then feel satisfying and re-invigorate the players to explore 🙂
