There's no difference between V1 tokens and V2 tokens, the difference is which contract they are staked in. It's not possible to rip your tokens out of a locked contract (by design), so when you upgrade, you're just telling the V2 contract it has permission to read your V1 stake, and allocate rewards.

The ILV staked in each contract are inherently the same, only the staking contracts have changed.

sILV-2 will always = <market price> ILV

Claim as sILV2 and it will be unlocked. You can then sell on secondary market for a lot less than ILV value or hold it to purchase land or use for in-game purchases

There is no need to do anything else since the tokens are still locked. Just do the two upgrade buttons.

In Illuvium, once a set is finished. Those Illuvials will become increasingly rare/expensive/inaccessible to new players. Yes, they will be able to capture the current set, but how will they be able to get e.g. an Atlas for their team in a few sets time?

E.g. in Magic the Gathering, once a set is finished, they will never print those cards again (same as Illuvium). BUT as the new sets come out, the old sets become less relevant. So new players can always jump in at any point, and enjoy the game fully, as the old sets are no longer required to play competitively.

I worry this might not be the case with Illuvium. Unless the old sets will also become less relevant to the future PvP meta over time?

1st will be legacy set. The only way to get it later on is to buy them on illuvidex.

we dnt know if the dev will make old sets meta again in the future. to do that they need to revamp the old set, its a gamble

Once the period of a set is done, you wont be able to capture it at all cause they wont pop up anymore. What you mentioned is the bonding/binding curve? Where each succeeding illuvial of the same type becomes exceeding difficult.

What aaron has been saying is that he wants all illuvials to be relevant/usable any given time. I guess thats whats gonna drive the marketplace.

• Old sets become more rare/valuable over time (from a collector standpoint)
• Old sets stay relevant, but must never have an unfair advantage over the newer sets team composition (man that's going to be fun to balance 😅 )
• New sets should always be able to equally match team compositions made from older-rarer sets

This way new players are always able to be competitive, with no advantage to OGs.

But old sets still gain value through rarity. And collectors or higher net worth individuals can choose to buy/create older team comps, but they don't get an advantage.

That was rise of Kingdoms. Interestingly, Clash of Clans, always rewarded you if you kept your older fighters levelled. Toons that fell out of love with players got rebalanced then voila, they were meta again. You could do it both ways.

As the NFTs are going to be tradable on the open market, I think the rebalancing of the old to always stay current is the smarter play vs making new ones meta all the time.

With web2 games you didn't care if older heroes weren't meta anymore, you were never going to unlock their value on the open market.

Hmm.. Depends on the pool you want to stake in and which token(s) you already have in your wallet.

ILV pool potential transactions will be to buy the ILV itself and then simply staking them in the protocol.

ETH/ILV pool potential transactions… buy either ETH or ILV, sell half of the token you have for the other token so you have 50/50 in USD value of each, deposit both tokens into the liquidity pool on SushiSwap so you get SLP tokens in return, then staking those SLP in the Illuvium protocol.

(Also if it’s your first time processing transactions with any of these tokens on any of these sites, you’ll also have to process an Approval transaction for each as well but those are less expensive than normal swap/deposit transactions)

If you already have the tokens you can always go to stake and then see the the gas fee… and if too costly, just don’t approve the transaction and click “Reject” instead 🙂 Won’t cost anything to do that!
