Yeah your printer can be that special... there are a variety of technologies that not only can print any level of overhang and print with no supports but can 3d print in colour. One that has no supports printing is called SLS technology and prints parts in nylon. Like every 3d printing technology it has its own shortcomings but you can always get creative enough to get something done. You're right though.
