Dumping will probably not happen as tokens are not released all together at the same time. Plus, the ones who withdraw will lose their 2x weight and will have to lock for another year if they want to use the privilege. Also, withdrawal will lose the right to receive RevDis, unless they lock again. I don’t think huge dumps will ever happen after game-release or even before that. But that’s just my idea 😉

But there are people who haven’t and will not study the project and will not join the community, hence the dump might happen, but i don’t think it’ll be major as ILV will start rising through ranks more and more. It’s a matter if time that people will learn that everything in Tokenomics point UP. sILV pumps ILV, RevDis pumps ILV, more people joining the game and spend ETH pumps ILV, 7-10m tokens for more than one game is nothing and will pump ILV and not withdrawing to be subject to receiving RevDis will prevent withdrawal as well. Many know this, many will learn this, but there are still people who would buy the top and sell the bottom.

Don't forget that if the game is successful, there will be an enormous buying pressure from the vault to pay revenue shares which in itself will pump the price. And if revenue really is amazing, then you'd don't want to sell next year anyway because with more games coming out, every single token you own will earn more revenue 🙂

Illuvium is the first blockchain game (to my knowledge) where you have to look threefold at how you could create wealth via the protocol:

1. Simple token investment where you buy $ILV and hope for an increase in price to sell for profit at a later date
2. Earning potential within the games economy (farming materials, crafting items, capture illuvials, wager on battles, win competitions, play the market...)
3. 100% revenue share buy holding your $ILV and keeping them staked

Both 1 and 3 obviously also give the opportunity for staking (as long as you own $ILV) which gives further return.

ANY of these three options could possibly make you rich but personally, I definitively see the most potential for a combination of 2 & 3 if you have the time to also play yourself. It is impossible to gauge how much revenue a successful game 1 could bring in, but given the size of the gaming industry without NFTs and play2earn already, the revenue to be gained via the Illuvium protocol could be revolutionary and because of that alone, I don't care a tiny bit what happens with seed/team tokens in 3/4 of a year from here. The price of $ILV has 0 impact on revenue share being paid out. Until the game hasn't been released for at least 12-24months, I wouldn't even dare to estimate the full revenue potential yet and thus always HODL my tokens. But that's just me 🙂

In all honesty, dumping when looking at it purely from a market point of view isn't a bad thing. (I feel most people think it is)
It means that early investors are taking profits (meaning the project is good), which then re-distributes those tokens to new investors, broadening the investor base of the project.
It's a win/win no matter how you look at it.

I have no problem with people taking profits. Also, even if I happily discuss whales dumping on us at a time where I'd say they are making a mistake...I rarely mean that in a judging way. What people do with their money is their decision alone. Neither me nor anyone else has any say in that. I'm just talking about "most gains out of my $ILV investment" and in that regard I expect (this is my conviction and obviously no guarantee) a lot more to gain by HODL $ILV compared to taking profits next year.

But there are always reasons to take profits of course and if prices are good early next year, I will sell a fraction of my $ILV as well. Not because I don't continue to think the most gains will be achievable through revenue share but simply because those funds at that time would have a huge impact on my life and possibities, making it worthwhile to let some possibly bigger profits in the future go.

Bots and other means of abuse are too easily executed then, regardless of how little that earning potential would be.

Systems that allow people with 0 money to make money in gameified format are utterly unsustainable unless the amount being earnt is minuscule or you don't focus on humans playing but instead focus on bots.

Adding those systems in would utterly destroy the economy. Now with the nature of our fusing systems there is value to add to an Illuvial by levelling it. As they need to be at the Max level for their tier before they can be fused.

So you can still level them in ranked/leviathan currently (this might change if this causes issues)

but that still requires you to own the Illuvials to do that
