I think that's short-sighted, you're underestimating the effects of gas fees. Security means nothing if it costs $500 to do any transaction on the chain. The current increase is small in comparison to what could happen if the American government could do if they initiated an attack. It caused Binance to stop transactions and the fees barely increased.

Respectfully, I think you are underestimating the ability of money to flow where it will achieve the greatest return.
High gas fees lead to more processing power, leads to low gas fees. The market will rebalance, eliminating short term excess profits.

Yes, and its low, and a layer 2 won't be a solution like on Ethereum. Not a currency for sure, but even 3rd parties that could maybe currency BTC light Lightning won't be able to do business with extreme gas fees. Most people won't be able to afford to buy/sell Bitcoin the way it was designed if the chain gets overloaded with the new "upgrades".
