I dont want to diss anything, just want to hear what i dont understand for now.
This game will be available for free to play right?
T0's only can be captured for free and only T0's will be usable in arena.
What will keep free to play players to play this game's trial for long term? (Getting only T0's sounds like game's trial version)
Usualy free to play players are grinders, that are ready to play for 15h/day to get those higher levels.
In 15h/day T0's will be in full set for them. So as they are full on collectable and leveling stuff, what will keep them?
Also how can they compete in Arena with only T0's? That will be called pay to win if i understand correctly, cause people that pay will be able to get T1-T5, and you can't possibly compete with them on your T0's.

The idea is that the gameplay will get these T0 grinders to play the actual paid experience and buy fuel to travel to those regions, there may be an opportunity for them to earn up from T0 regions depending if others value those T0 and someone can sell them to buy the fuel to get into higher regions. This is the allure of the competitive part of arena as well, if they can’t compete because all they have is T0 well they either need to get into higher tier regions or buy higher power Illuvials off market. You don’t have to pay to win though you can grind up from lower stages to higher, but if you are wanting to build your strongest deck possible maybe you do that sooner and buy them

Ok. As now i see that they can sell T0's to buy T1-T5's. Doesnt sound possible, as T0's will sell for 1 cent later on (Dont expect demand on them, cause everyone will have them).

Basicly what i hear is that those Free players wont be able to play for free.
I want to compare with other game like LoL. What free players do, they get attention of players that are ready to invest. There wont be demand if there will be no players. Free players become pay players in time... Like me. I bought my 1st skin in LoL when i was 18..
But i got few of my friends in that game, and they like skins, so they buy atleast few every month.

If you're starting with the premise of "How can we ensure children can make money", you're thinking about Illuvium as a vehicle for fiscal gain. It's a different paradigm than making a fun game. Owning assets doesn't need to coorelate to making money for a game to be fun. You can own assets, not make money, and still have fun. For reference, web2 games involve not owning assets, not making money, and still having fun.

Plus, there are custodial wallet solutions where people don't need to KYC or use an exchange. It's still possible to own things without being able to withdraw those things through a CEX. AFAIK no part of having crypto assets in a wallet requires people to be 18+, though that may vary by country.

There are ways to avoid this. I haven't completely thought through everything, but why don't we have a version of Illuvium that is completely free, but you don't own your assets, can't trade, are not on the blockchain but with all Illuvials etc. And then there is the paid for version we currently talk about. Nobody can argue we are pay for win, because you can win in the free version, you just won’t make money from it.

I am with @warm lantern and @dusty plank when they see Illuvium as a kind of Pocker/Card Game. But I also see the casual or non competitive Pokemon Go player who just wants to have fun, collect cool Illuvials, level them up and not have to think about money at all. We should cater to both and find ways to bring them together. I will write up an idea and hope to get lots of feedback.

I don't view it as a poker game, or as a card game really. I'm in the camp of "game first", with ownership. There are some necessary things associated with ownership (such as being mindful of bots), but that's mostly secondary to making the game fun.

I'd rather have a game with 10M players where common assets are worth pennies than a game with 10k players where common assets are worth $100.

I'm pretty against the mentality that everyone will make money by playing the game. I think that's a pretty flawed assumption to start with. Not everyone will make money, and trying to design around that would be a mistake.

Well the good news is this is a totally irrelevant conversation. You can have either a F2P game OR a collectible game with assets that have value. There’s no way to have both.
Illuvium is 2 years into development into a collectible NFT game and there’s no way the team decides to make a random pivot to a F2P game, it just doesn’t make sense.

The reason I jumped in was a simple one. We see it as a collectible NFT card game, but the mainstream gamers will call us a cash grab and will avoid us like pest. We need to be prepared to have many reginalds. They see the Overworld, which is not a card game, and see the paid tiers that prevent them from continuing to play.

Sometimes it feels like people think that fortnite is the only game that’s successful and therefore all games must be F2P to be successful. The reality is that MOST games cost money to play. A few people have such a revulsion toward what they call pay to win games but it doesn’t make a ton of sense in this case. Theres plenty of good games coming of new studios that do great. I would point to Valheim which sold 5 million copies in the first month, or something like Axie Infinity which was extremely expensive to play and still had millions of players.
The reason Illuvium has the f2p T0 component is so that people can get some experience with the game and decide if they like it before they need to spend any money.

OFAC doesn't have the power to null assets on Ethereum. Centralized entities (ex. Circle) are able to freeze assets (i.e. stop redemption of things like USDC for USD), but no one has control over your crypto except you, if you're self-custodying.

OFAC could also order exchanges to block wallets that had transacted with something like Tornado Cash. That's patently different than actually removing assets from the blockchain though.

I'll mention again that none of this is legal advice, I don't live in the U.S. and I'm not a lawyer. This is just my understanding of how decentralized protocols work.
