Nah, I support @arctic nexus ... I do not want to dilute his chances (we both are the data guys), even if I wish him to take a more agressive approach we are constantly in discussion and we understand well each other.

We kept hearing the team saying "This epoch is the most important one" when it wasn't because nothing much happened. But now, the conditions imply maybe difficult decisions. So for now, next epoch, we need people that protect and help the team to take a survival approach and not an expansion one, challenging them and give them experienced feedback = I hope smart councils will be elected + I'll keep sharing my ideas, feedback and experiences to anyone wanting to hear it.

That said, I havn't found a sub-council in GoV2 where I would fit well, but I may take my chances .... @near pier 😛

BTW @languid silo I also have a lot on my plate in real life, bought a condo and got some issue during the process and certainly a financialy tense early 2023, my wife doing night courses so have to support, a job where i want to tell my top management to go fuck themselves ... so much I'm soon resigning for a "Head of technology" new position in a big company (I won't give more details, and yeah it's going to be challenging) ... on a more fun side, just bought a plane ticket for my mom, she'll be coming for 2 months after more than 3 years without seeing her because of Covid, so busy we decided to push back baby ideas for a year with all that XD

So yeah if i run for council, i want to have time to dedicate for it. Should be OK for GoV2 🙂

Honestly as a Council Member the number of things I’m allowed to talk about publicly has decreased…

The time I spend with the community these days is mostly privately, in DMs, in private voice calls learning and addressing peoples concerns and views, reading discord to gain sentiment, and using all this to inform myself to best serve in this position

I also know from working in other protocols that just because someone is active in discord doesn’t mean they are actually contributing value to the project. There’s a balance to be found. Fundamentally I think the council members should be steering and giving feedback onto votes, doing the necessary research on all IIPs brought up, writing their own proposed IIPs where they see gaps, and then bringing the key points of concern back to the community. Some of this criticism is warranted for communication improvements. But let’s find the balance between a mod and a community manager and a council member. If someone on the board of directors at my company is out chatting with customers all the time I’m going to fire them because that’s not their primary role.

I will use an example from another project so there is no emotion for anyone here. In EthLizards, we have a council member who I worked with to secure half of the deal flow for our investments during this epoch. He is occasionally in discord but not often. The council there has a role to bring in, evaluate and decide on allocations. He is doing his job amazingly well but it’s by design not visible to the community. There are similar examples here.

While I agree that it is important that those on council know what is going on in the community and think they should be at least watching Discord I don't think they necessarily have to be the most active. One thing that scares me in voting like this is that it becomes a popularity contest rather than having the most experienced/best person for the job. Those best at PR aren't necessarily the ones who are best at making business decisions. We also need people who maybe aren't as outgoing but are good with economics, charts, etc.
That's one reason I don't like blind voting honestly, I think we should be trying to build the best team, not just voting our favourite guy. We need one person who is active on Discord who can take the info back to council and I figured that was what Rich was doing.

I also have to say that when I had a question, I didn't want it public. I contacted Vetemor. He found out what I wanted to know and got back to me right away. He did it quietly and I appreciated that.

Generally I think we should be able to judge council members based on the IIPs they put forward and their voting history. Its unfortunate that this epoch so much work went into gov v2 behind the scenes so the community isnt able to see the perspectives of the council on the issues they were working on.
For me responsiveness on discord means a lot, whenever ive tagged the council on governance issues Vetemor and Deraji have at least taken the time to write a response 100% of the time. Kieran is about 50/50 and santiago and sheep have never responded. For me that shows two clear leaders in which council members are actively doing their jobs.

Yea Wagner said they have a 6-9 month runway. They’re going to look to raise funds, but it won’t be easy. They’ve been way too ambitious and unrealistic in their project build imo.

Its times like this that im glad Illuvium integrates a lot of the defi ethos into our structure. This bear market has really shown that truly decentralized and transparent protocols are the ones that are actually the most resilient.
