IIP chats are better with varying opinions and perspectives. Only having people who agree creates echo chambers and no real growth. You can definitely question Lelahel's approach to communication, but he asks good questions and is pushing for transparency, which has been Illuvium's hallmark from the beginning. His willingness to put himself out there when a lot of people wouldn't is a strength in my opinion.

We had this discussion, and that was what drove the council clarification on how revdis works for the expanded scope. While blunt, this was a real assessment of what others were proposing, and an example of why 100% revdis on all business streams was an unsustainable idea. Context matters.

I want to pose a question about SILV2, for use in game, and gather an understanding of the psychology of any player who would burn their own ILV rewards, (or sell them), knowing that the token itself is revenue generating. I know that the price of in game purchases will have rails tying them to fiat, so clearly a fraction of an ILV may be all that's necessary to "burn" for a shard or curing fee etc, but do we have any numerical analysis on how likely the average gamer is to start claiming rewards in SILV2? By definition, unless they purchase it off the market, they themselves are stakers. I know we burned 3% of ILV supply in land sale. I can see excellent reasoning and motivation for why people did this. But sacrifice a revenue generating token in order to save $US10-12 "today"?

Upshot: how do we make more people burn ILV. Cos I want more revdis share. It's the Selfish Gene.

I don't think anyone has done specific analysis of how likely gamers specifically are to claim sILV2 instead of ILV. It's a bit of a strange question, since people who are primarily here to play Illuvium's games don't need to own ILV, don't need to stake, and would be more likely to buy sILV2 off an exchange (provided it's still trading at a discount to ILV) if their primary goal is to engage with the paid side of gameplay.

The primary motive for claiming sILV2 thus far has been liquidity. Stakers can claim sILV2 and immediately liquidate it, as compared to an ILV claim which undergoes 12 months vesting, as you know.

TL;DR: It's not gamers claiming sILV2 that I think will contribute to max supply reduction, it's stakers claiming sILV2 and selling it to gamers, who are buying it. There's likely some overlap, but it's hard to say how many stakers will be using their own sILV2 for gameplay, since the game isn't out yet.

I'd also just like to clarify that the way the IIP was written and passed, the rails are tied to ETH, not fixed fiat prices. So the baseline (numbers used just as an example) for a single unit of Fuel could be .01 ETH. The rails will keep the price of Fuel (in ETH) within 25% of .01 ETH, for a range of .0075 - .0125. I think it's easier to use rails in ETH because the LP for Fuel will be Fuel/ETH.

It's possible that the fixed price in Fuel of actions could be changed if needed, in the event of ETH pumping. There was some heaty debate back when the IIP was proposed that's worth reading through if you're into that kind of thing.

I've become less and less stoked on the idea of sILV2 over time. Every sILV2 minted is game credit the DAO owes to players. When ILV increases in price, the amount of outstanding game credit the DAO owes increases, because the value of sILV2 for in-game spending increases.

The supply reduction DOES help counteract that in the long run, but in the short run, potentially up to the end of yield farming even, sILV2 existing will reduce ETH revenue (since people can just buy sILV2 instead).

I don't think anyone can objectively say whether it's good or bad to have more or less sILV2 minted, but there are definitely a few different sides to it. Personally, being bullish on ILV long term, there are some scary scenarios where there's a lot of outstanding sILV2. The land sale did a FANTASTIC job of reducing the amount of circulating sILV2, so that's less of a concern now. The best case (IMO) for sILV2 (from a DAO prespective, where we want to maximize revdis for stakers) is that a lot of it gets spent while ILV is still relatively cheap.
