my opinion that nobody asked for: Kierans goal was to push on Michael to get answers that are vital for all investors that Kieran thought Micahel/SA was hiding. I think he did his objective well, and I think Michael tried to go around the questions. Now, why was Micahel in the habbit of doing that? (He did not shy away from questions, he answered honestly) but he rambled. Cagy as a moderator did not do his job and guide Micahel to the questions. I feel like people who do not eat every Michael word (sa fans priamrily) stopped paying attention. Kieran did not push a lot since Michael was diggin his own hole. I cannot say to anything Kieran is informed/misinformed or what, but he asked questions right? He had a point, and he asked a question. Current speculation is that you may have some opportunities to earn if you are just doing F2P and capturing Tier 0 Illuvials and resources. Perhaps if you level up the Tier 0 Illuvials that you capture and sell them to other players who don't want to spend that time leveling 🤷

But the idea is that since it is F2P to capture the Tier 0 illuvials, everyone will likely be trying to sell them at some point. Too much supply and there will be less demand.

Tier 1-5 Illuvials will be more valuable in that case.

It’s pretty straightforward. In 5 years time Star Atlas will still be ‘building’ the MMO they promised, and all their investors will just be hanging around waiting and waiting and waiting. Watching their investment either do nothing or slowly drain away.

In the meantime Illuvium will have been launched for a long time, with possibly another game either already launched or soon to be released. A first person shooter would build on a lot of the work already completed.

On the Star Atlas, though they are not delivering right now , I like their grand vision of being interopable on the solana chain with other metaverse shizzle .... though as an extreme agile devops guy i gotta say that they have to ship as soon as frequent as possible. It is a very difficult task to overcome, axie worked because it was a well designed pyramid scheme so there was huge incentive for people to play and got a huge initial playerbase off of crypto natives due to the potential to be at the top of the pyramid. When you shift your focus to making an actual good game and not a pyramid scheme u lose that audience completely, most crypto natives dont want to play any games at all and now you need to market to the masses who currently are not too fond of nfts

Even if a team firmly believes their project is set to be in the hands of players within some estimated timeframe.... something that is 5+ years out potentially becomes something VERY unknown, really. Estimates can be made based on the technology we have available today but this space is innovating and developing fast... and 5 years from now, who knows, will we even still be on Web3?

With new technology constantly being developed, suddenly, what you've been working on for 5 years now needs to be overhauled to fit whatever the requirements are at that current time. Requirements and demands 5 years from now certainly won't be what they are today.

Haha we did raise our funds thru an nft sale because we decided to go the anti vc route and 100% community backed (nothing wrong with going the vc route just tooka different approach) but nothing that would really heavily effect gameplay or give anyone competitive advantages, more so its an investment piece as there is no token purchaseable.

I guess we just view things differently. "It can go up and down in value" is focusing on the transient stuff. I look at point A and point B. If whatever crypto I'm buying provides value in some way, then between point A and point B I can reasonably expect that crypto to increase in price.

The same can be said of stocks. If whatever company issued a stock is providing value in a better, cheaper, or more efficient way than their competitors, that stock will typically go up over time.

Will there be bumps, recessions, bear markets? Yeah, absolutely. Could there be competition that renders a crypto or stock irrelevant? Yup.

But those are risks, they are not random like spinning a wheel on a slot machine. With 100% perfect information and analysis, you could see all those things coming. The difference between how complete your information set is and how things actually play out is your risk. At least that's how I view it.
