This is a lot more thought out than Axie was, illuvium isn’t creating a game that’s not that great, and deluding themselves into thinking everyone is playing because they like it, and it’s not just for extracting value

Like I said above the devs will have found the balance here, combining free to play and pay to play in a way that doesn’t compromise the eco system. You can do a lot with free to play, but not so much that you can just easily free to play your way to the top in a short space of time

You don't NEED to get rhamphyre. but if you want to go into the leviathan arena, then that's basically pay to win and we uncap it. Theres math involved but it shouldnt suddenly run out. It just gets more and more difficult. If by chance it does then for the specific illuvial your best bet is to get it off the market. I highly doubt ALL the illuvials will be impossible to catch before the next set.

It was pretty minor so not a huge issue for me. It would certainly be easier to take the star atlas approach and not release anything other than concept art based nfts. Its much harder to hack a project that hasnt released anything.

I’m not really paying attention to any of that. But I think the real dick rider is the guy who joins the other community just to defend his project, really points to the likelihood that you’re overinvested which sucks for you, because star atlas has been and still is, losing its cult following. The barrier to entry is high, and Illuvium’s core community is strong and the barrier to entry within illivium is much lower. Even if star atlas comes out, the prices that ships went for are absolutely ridiculous and can’t actually be validated as fair. The price for land, in illuvium’s was essentially determined by the community themselves via Dutch auction.

The hack definitely slowed things down a bit. Illuvium's timelines have been horribly innacurate but at least we have a functional beta now. I really think the game is mostly developed based on what was said in the last interview, its just implementing the last pieces of functionality and polishing everything.
On the other hand most other 'AAA' web3 games are still in the planning stages from what ive seen.
