Ideally, the answer is No.
The system is set up in such a way that the design team can configure the probabilities in each region and stage independently. So in theory, different regions can skew towards different items, say more fire-affinity in Crimson Waste and more water-affinity in Abyssal Basin, and maybe certain types of plants are more common in certain regions. You know, give people a reason to explore all the regions and avoid the dreaded Complacent Gaming Syndrome. In practice though, I'm sure they don't fine-tune every single number and there's a lot of copy-pasting going on.

So I'm finally getting back into OW and have a couple questions. This new release seems extra grindy compared to the previous version. Like mineral deposits seem harder to come by and are even more localized to a specific area on the map depending on the run. And now deposits provide less resources, thus requiring more runs to gather the necessary items for crafting. Was that the intention?

Also, the ranger climbing up addition feels a little weird as he grabs onto every ledge which can help but is also annoying cuz it wastes a little time each time it's not needed... is there a way to turn off that feature? Messes with the flow.

How is everyone feeling about this setup versus the last one?

About the ranger climbing, you just have to anticipate more the movement mecanic of the ranger.
I found it more usefull then annoying.

I guess it depends a bit on the map.
Like in crimson i Find it more usefull, in abysall i didn't need it at all and in brightland it's a bit more on the annoying side.
Would be nice if you can take it on a Keyboard Button and Grab when pushing that button

Consider what I said before about complacency - we found that when resources were distributed evenly, people tended to have a favorite mining spot and just ran to that same spot every time (myself included 🙂 ). So by clustering the resources in smaller areas, and randomizing those areas on each run, it adds more variety.

Regarding the change to the deposits, the idea was to improve the pacing. Instead of parking at each deposit to scan and extract multiple times, you can now more quickly grab the goods and keep moving. And since you're not spending as much energy on scanning, you should actually be pulling more resources than before. There are still a handful of super-deposits on the map that use the old mechanics but have better resources.

As for the mantling, that's not my department 😉 I tend to agree with DrSpoon: sometimes it's helpful, sometimes not so much. Feel free to send feedback on that, maybe it will be adjusted in the future

I can understand the reasoning... but damn, traversing the land for 10-20 minutes without finding a deposit is produces that dull, FML feeling. And with the current algorithm T0/T1 runs would make sense to keep respawning until a deposit field is close by. The tradeoff of time/cost comes into play.

When you spawn in, just pull up the map and hit H. Heat map tells you where all the deposits are so no need to run around.

exactly, the heat map is not as accurate from the start so that you can improve the accuracy using the drone upgrades. Personally, I prefer to upgrade the visor, then the general direction of the heat map is good enough, the visor does the rest 😉

You can find T5 illuvials in Stage 1, 2, and 3 encounters. I've caught a few T5 in Stage 1 runs. I'd assume the odds of encountering T5 illuvials would be better in a stage 3 run but I haven't done any capture runs in Stage 3 yet

and u also need them to catch the illuvials youre fighting

It’s an Ergon rift (energy).
It doesn’t become harvestable until you have less than 100 or 200 energy. You just walk through them at that point to gain like 300 additional energy.

I definitely feel the grind. I’m trying to level up my mining oriented augments before grinding stage 0 for tier 3 boots and jet pack.

I’m generally finding I’m enjoying this iteration despite the grindyness. The plants are a nice touch. The map changes are a major improvement. Leveling illuvials is a major grind for sure. With focusing on harvesting over capturing, my highest level illuvial is 8 after many runs. I like the leveling concept, but holy shit you need tenacity.

I really like the RNG when it comes to stats. It makes the choice to collect or evolve a fun experience.

The physics feels a little too slippery. Manteling ledges needs some work

Try searching the whole map. They are probably on random spawn as well. Sometimes I get a group that are in a similar area. They are usually still near a resource when not in the hot zones. No idea. I believe it takes a total of like 8125 xp spread between the 3 illuvials that you are trying to fuse to be able to fuse them. Each illuvial should have something that displays its current xp amount. And the combined total is displayed whenever you attempt to fuse

The 1st time I fused 3 illuvials it's was Monkier stage 1 and one of them has level 20 or 21.

I hope it's the sum of all you 3 illuvials you want to fuse must equal X xp to fuse them all

Surely you've played games with a level/XP system before? There's nothing unusual there - that Atippo is level 1 with 0 XP, and 234 XP needed to reach level 2.

Overworld is certainly much more polished. There are a bunch of glitches and messed up animations and “falling through the map” in the game in the video. But the guys playing are having fun for a reason

The current version is just the capture loop. Imo it would be separate from the encounter + Battling format.
First you go to the overworld, catch some Illuvials. Then you go to the actual overworld to fight and level up your Illuvials.

Could be two separate overworld regions. Since the current regions aren't built to fight in (you don't have nice flat platteaus to fight on, unless they 2x the level horizontally). Imo, completely overhauling the regions to accomodate fighting anywhere would be a terrible next step. Better to make this current region be an area to catch and do autobattlers. This will help in the arena. Then release a spin-off for Monsterhunter/DokeV/Palworld gameplay where you take your Illuvials from the overworld to fight against big bosses and make your base or such.

I have done many Stage 3 mining runs and never found it either. Someone suggested awhile ago that there are more air epics than any other, so the earth epic missing bug might be part of that.

Gameplay suggestions are great, but one thing to keep in mind is that, according to the designers, the core of OW is simply a gamified experience for opening a pack of cards. Just like buying Magic cards or whatever off the shelf, you pay some money and get some random stuff. Except in this case the contents of the "pack" are somewhat influenced by skill and choice.
Now, once you've built up your "deck", there's every intention to have multiple game modes in which to use it. I personally agree with you and would love to see a Diablo-style dungeon crawler as a future product; autobattlers, and PvP in general, are not really my scene 🙂 But right now all eyes are focused on getting the initial parts of the system -- Arena, OW, Zero, Beyond -- up and running, and then we can decide on where to go from there.

When you shoot in the middle of the wake are you jumping 1st then aiming + holding the left click a +-1 sec and shot the wake in the middle.

100% of the time I shooted a wake like that in the middle the wake stop, if it's stop it's mean you cna interact with it otherwise if it's disappear it's mean you miss the middle.

When you shoot a them and they disappear they will appear somewhere else in the map.

Well, i tought about some tips and tricks guide.
Maybe what to do first when the game launches, what resources are important, what equipment to forge, what about increased capture power, moz4rt augments, how do illuvials increase in level? For example i saw that is better to use energy at first on tier 2 lands just to mine shards, things like this. I tought there might be a guide for advanced tips

Not that I know.
At start it's better focusing on upgrading your Equipment at least stage 2, Jetpacks, Magboots (need stage 0 run extract ores), Visor (Stage 1-2-3 run) depend on your need.

After or at the same time, I would focus on gettng the drone chips, the one who are focused on mining so you can upgrade your drone chips faster.

For the rest, it will depend on the strategie you want to have.
Exemeple: Focusing on mining, plants, reducing the scanning cost, capture power, forging weapons, skins, augment, consummable to increase the exp from each fight for your illuvials.

This is only in PB3, i'm pretty sure Private Beta 4 will bring new things.

Extract mining power give you more power when extracting resources from one of the 3 type of the BIG deposit mine only, it's done not apply to small deposit mine.

In other words, this makes your extractions more efficient, increasing the chance of extracting more resources with each extraction at a maximum of the 12 possible slots in the big deposit mine.

Exemple:
In the one extraction which cost you 90 Ergon Energy out of the 4 000 you have each run, you are increase the chance of extraction 1-3 slots at one instead of 1-2.

Just came up with an Idea to address the issue with web2 or web3 as target audience (see #💰〕token message):
Since it seems OW on its own is supposed to be more and more a game instead of a pack opening.
Therefore, it will be difficult to cater to web2 and web3 audience alike since these audiences look at prices pretty differently.
In short for web3 a 2$ T1 run might be "ok" because they see value in the assets and value the option to sale these assets, but web2 will just see 2$ for 30 minutes playtime which will be evaluated as crazy. So, for web2 users 0.20$ per run would be way more reasonable.
So, the question is how can we increase the playtime per $ without reducing the value of assets.
I think we could implement that the Illuvials we capture aren't nfts when we catch them but we can fuse 10 Illuvials of one kind into an nft. With that you can have way more runs to play the grind game like gathering, leveling up Illuvials and discover in OW. From here on a user can decide if he wants to "only" play all the amazing stuff OW has to offer or if he wants to fuse Illuvials to generate an asset to be able to play arena, all the other games or to sell it.That way OW can be grindy, vast and a game on its own because we degenerated/uncoupled the cost for playing OW and gaining assets. So, playtime per $ increased while keeping the value of NFTs.
Further thoughts: Holos are still nfts but even more rare

Idea is obv. nothing new but maybe this is an option to address both audiences.
I also know we have a decay mechanism on currencies which is supposed to adept prices to customers but I think at the start we will have quite a big percentage of web3 users who will outprice interested web2 users. Bottom line this would lower the entry barrier for web2 users.

If wanted this can be implemented later when OW is more of a game on its own to increase the playtime and accessibility for web2 users.

Shard integrity is kind of like an Illuvial's "stamina". It goes down as you use Illuvials in battle, and you get a debuff if it gets too low. It's the little blue bar underneath the Illuvials in your deck

So 80 damage and 20 resolve -> 60 incoming damage -> goes into the energy resistance and is divided by 1 + (0.01 x energy resistance)
so 80 damage, 20 resolve and 100 resistance -> 60 incoming damage -> divided by 1 + (0.01 x 100) -> 60/2 = 30 damage.

Each Illuvial line has a fixed progression, e.g. Atlas (Water/Bulwark) -> Axon (Water/Harbinger) -> Axodon (Tsunami/Harbinger), so you can't fuse different Illuvials to make whatever you want. If you want a Behemoth, you'd have to either capture one directly or find a line that grows into one. Not sure there are any right now, though...
Except for Lynxes; you can choose their progression, but I don't think they get composite classes

Those are all illuvials using Mud or Steam available now
Steam = fire + water or water + fire
Mud = water + earth or earth + water

Just an unfortunate side effect of the development process. Sometimes, while refining the game, we make changes to the data organisation or structure that are incompatible with existing data. We know wiping the data is painful and avoid it as much as possible, but the alternative is implementing backwards compatibility or migration, which takes time and would likely lead to more schedule slip, which is even more painful. Other Early Access games have similar issues - how many times have you seen a studio release an update that breaks all your save files and mods?
Obviously, things will have to be different once we start minting NFTs and the data becomes much more permanent, and this change is part of the final push to get there.

I've been through multiple already.
Benifits = every time it happens I see where I can improve.

Power helps you get better results.
For example you when you find a large deposit.

• extract - some elements found- extract again.
• higher power - more elements each extraction - less extractions - better value for cost.
  It works the same with scan power.

So if you combine less cost with more power you will maximise your results.

I'm not sure if it affects the small deposits.

I'm not sure at 100% but, yes I think stats are level as well.

Nothing in Beta will be keep, everyone will start at the same starting line.
Tier 0 will be free to have, this is the difference because to catch them you will need to go in stage 0 Overworld.
Others stage 1-2-3 will cost Crypton fuel generated from illuvium Zero land 5% and DOA 95% of the total supply.

Hey Ariel The Ergon rifts will open/active once your Ergon energy ( the light blue bar ) drops to 150. Then you can jump through them, they will give you extra energy to gather more resources or enter another encounter, before the dome closes
