The first three months of the game it was pretty equal and sometimes I would even run into the weaker ones. After I moved to a different alliance I never get any opponents anywhere near my rank. That leaves me loosing 100% of the fights at the arena and no rewards of course. After a while I just stopped going there. What’s the point?
