I have gotten it a couple times this time around. There’s no guarantees, but my process is making sure my first moves are the four corners and the middle tile as the X is a must to get 5 and see where the game puts its tiles. Then using the guide you can see if 5 is possible or not and go from there.

You're not alone, I usually do events on 2 primary accounts and 3 subs, they did ace week, only 2 did new development bc they had fcb and were naturally training troops... even those 2 have sat out hero & gear days. The only way they will do off week in it's present state is if it is during showdown and grab a matching task.

The one in 734 is doing off week since it is the old format.

Plus side, when showdown is during off week I can be less picky with matching tasks because they aren't worth it.

I get predominately much weaker opponents in water wars, because flag is a lost cause, and that drops the affinity.

The problem is what your suggestion is is part of the game mechanics. They're not going to change the affinity setup because there really isn't a nice fair way to do that. People fight their way out of where they're at to a level where they're competing with similar sized states/alliances but unfortunately the matchups aren't going to be extremely fair until they hit that point.

That's what my alliance is going through right now. We are a very large alliance and we're being matched up with much smaller ones in water wars so we try to be nice to the people that were being matched up with because it's not their fault we're there

But as for things like wasteland and Valiant you have less control over everything that's going on

Some of our most memorable water wars have been vs alliances we were out matched against. Sure we got our butts kicked but most have been very pleasant to get to know in the process. It's all what you make of it, getting butt hurt just makes it a bad experience for everyone. 😂 ❤️
