ToS is basically just super dailies that are easy to complete when you are already playing the game, and paying to unlock the extra rewards on it is one of the best values in the game for Promoters. They can run multiple stamina events at once but can't let us capitalize on it by having ToS at the same time is more like it. They hate letting us double dip on events.

You get far more rss from event rewards than from gathering. Also, even if you're super small and weak, you can random out to the fringes of your map and harvest from dead bases that have no troops. Doublecheck your state's NAP rules but I don't think anywhere forbids hitting untagged without troops except possibly during the weekend state events. Just check to make sure no troops.

Experiment for yourself -- just make sure that any fighters heroes in your lineup are at least +5. Different lineups give different results, sometimes even different lair levels will differ in which lineup is better. Adding a few off troops to give the tactical to your off troop doesn't usually make much difference, since the tactical is only applied to those off troops, but some people like it.

Personally I'm using either 5 or 4+1 but based more on whether I can get a better bonus from a 5th focus hero or an off type.
