We're a mostly US alliance so sometimes there aren't a lot of folks on during the night so it's useful to have farms for lairs.

I also like to run my own Hunt Mastery so I try to squeeze in as many lairs as possible.

It's possible to get up to level 7 (maybe 8) without paying. After that it seems the game seems to provide too many 4-tile blocks after you score ~400 points to efficiently get rid of.

You would have to combo the the heck out out before 400 points to beat it for free after 8+.
