I’ve brought that up a few times. Add an option in settings to enable/disable censorship in countries where it’s possible. If you’re on a server based in a country where it’s mandatory, the option grayed out. It’s actually very simple

The coding is quite simple. The option is there for everyone but depending on where your IP address logs in from will determine whether or not the button can be used

As a developer myself the easiest way around this is to make sure it alone is the "word" being used.

Split your string on spaces and check against your blacklist. So you check for " gm " and not "gm" there's a huge difference when you end up filtering out pieces of a larger word

There’s a difference between being sensitive to other people and being overzealous in censoring.
They could give us a toggle to turn the censor on/off with the caveat that certain words will be censored regardless because of the TOS they have with individual corporations, countries, and companies. Viêt Nam for example. And post the list of words permanently censored in a place easily accessible by all!
This would still enable us to see words like administrator and badminton without the asterisks without risking going against TOS.
The issue with GM is ridiculous in the extreme. How difficult would it be to censor ONLY those two letters by themselves. Or admin by itself, instead of in the middle of a word.
I’m no programmer, but there used to be a way to search in general terms. Example chicken recipes. Could they not implement something similar for the censor, only excluding certain combinations and phrases?(i forgot asterisks give italics, lol)

Also anything that has 'chimba' in it,
'gandi', 'putin' and a lot of other personalities (we find it very hard to write in Romanian, so many innocent words that have these letters get censored), 'cubes' is ok , but anything that has 'cubu' in it gets banned.
Chimba is the most annoying. I know it is some Spanish slur. We use it in 'schimba' which means 'change' so many times... It looks like all we do is having x rated talks all day. 🤣 🤣 🤣 .

Some though, is truly an error. I’ve contacted CS before and the issue has been corrected, usually within the hour. Sometimes they’ll give me the reason for the censorship: amk is a curse in some country. They didn’t tell me where.
The funny/stupid part is, if you have Apple privileges (probably others too) you can circumvent the censorship and have your words show as they should. At least you used to be able to, I’m not sure about now.
