The Miyoo Mini Plus is a great handheld, I think you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it! For PS1 and below it's a fantastic device, especially if you've got smaller hands.

im 99% certain it can, as long as the device is detecting the hinge position and not just a hardware power switch is activated when its closed

magnets can conduct electricity so they could be used to open and close a power circuit for the screen

I think the deciding factor for whether I order this is gonna be whether the lid closed detection is exposed in software, or if it's completely hardware-based and can only turn off the screen.

Agreed. The initial button angle in the prototype concept art just looked... odd. I think the final layout they went with was the best choice for keeping the GBA SP aesthetics mostly intact while still making it practical to play the widest variety of systems.
