Check for enable structure prevention volumes in your server settings, see if it is set to true

Question. I’m going to word it the best I can. I have a server I change the current map to another map will characters defiantly stay on the server saves or will they be deleted?

I tried, didn’t work sadly. I resulted in asking ChatGPT and it said the world might load its configuration correctly if the world isn’t in a folder called the world name (I hope that makes sense). By default all my worlds get saved in a folder called “TheIsland”, but ChatGPT says each world save should have their own folder not within “TheIsland” folder, which is a bit confusing because that’s where the server puts all the world saves

If you’re running a dedicated server each world is saved separately so when you switch to another all of your player and world data will be saved, so you can change back to your previous world and pick up where you left off

My cluster has most resources, not all, stack to 1000. We do it all through beacon/ini. We have no stacking mods and no mods that touch dedicated storage. All vanilla with custom config.

I couldnt find any reports of it anywhere on official so I assumed it was just a BG thing. Im wondering if it has to do with stack sizes. If you try to pull items out of a bugged dedi it will revert to 1800 items potentially deleting 1,798,200 items. Maybe this is the game not recognizing the 1000 stacks and reverting them to 1800 stacks of 1? idk The only way I have found to temporarily fix it is by picking up the dedi with items in it and then transferring all of the items back to it. The second I leave render and come back the bug happens again.

does anyone know how to set up the port forwarding part of a dedicated server that they are hosting? I have all of my ports that i've seen needed open and added settings in my firewall to allow them to work but whenever someone else tries to join the server but me they get "connection timed out" while i can join the server just fine. I have seen this. Make sure your different maps are on different ports and that the forwarding is correct. Otherwise it will get confused. You cannot have the same external (7777) for more than one internal (7777).

Also, it might depend on your ISP. If you are using something like Starlink they use CGNAT and there is no way around it. You can call your ISP and ask if you have a "public IP", if they say you don't or can't then you are on CGNAT and the best bet is to buy a server or setup a VPN with your friends which takes a lot more effort.

Hey im hosting a dedicated server on steamcmd and I can't for the life of my figure out how to make myself an admin of it. Can anyone explain to me how that works? I tried the ServerAdminPassword=mypasshere in gameuser ini but it doesnt work

I am having an issue with Cyro Pods on Ragnarok. I have the Offical CryoPods, no moded ones. My Island map settings allow you to throw out a Cryo without a Fridge. I cannot get it to work on Ragnarok. Same INI settings for both. Anyone experience this issue too?

Are you hosting on PC? I had the issue with having the ServerAdminPassword in the Boot line and it messed it all up. I removed it from the Boot command and Added it into just the INI file.

or

LimitBunkersPerTribeNum=999999

the first one will disable the limit completely, the second one will make the limit really high

Make sure there are no SPACES that you are forgetting. But if you have it in the INI and make SURE it is NOT in the .bat file, then the command enablecheats abc123 should allow you access to admin commands.

If you have the ?serveradminpassword= in the .bat file it will overwrite and conflict with the Gameuser ini files. After you do the enablecheats command try cheat gcm, then go to your inventory and see if you have full crafting ability. I never use the FLy command for admin stuff, just GCM, it allows you to fly and craft and other simple admin stuff

If you type exit in the command line for Ark Server it will generally perform a save before shutdown.

If you just close it out (click X) it will not perform a save. You can do that too.

But that is client side.

There is a dropdown command at the top left (chevrons) which will show the command line for ark server at the bottom. Always input exit on server shutdown.

Hello, I have a dedicated ASA server set up on my PC and whenever I start it it crashes my entire system. It worked fine the first boot, caused a BSOD on the second, and straight up restarting my entire system on the third. There are no crash logs. Latest version.

I use Asa Dedicated Manager as well. Do you have any clue how to make the Lost Colony Expansion items show up on the server? I am able to tame the draklings but non of the Lost Colony items show up under engrams and I also noticed my cosmetics from Aberation and Extinction aren't there either. Only shows the Frontier cosmetics.

I am using AMP. They have a free version that hosts a web based control panel on the same system you use it but it is best for people that have experience hosting servers/web servers. Many people seem to be using Ark Server Manager.

For anyone that was having issues, like I was, with the Lost Colony DLC items not showing up it turned out to be one of the mods I was using was causing the issue after all. It was even causing the steampunk and wasteland skins to not show up at all. For me it was the Pure Form Mod causing the issue. Hope this helps.

Yeah the gus has a bunch of settings at the bottom that just cant be changed, if render is there you can always try it out. But my guess as to why we cant changed them is that it will effect everyone on the server and it could cause problems for people with lower speced pc or ps/xbox

Hi I have players that can duplicate everything when transferring is it my problem or every server has this?

They arent actually lost though! If you saw where they dropped just search the ground nearby and you can pick it up. Its just a visual error. Also it won't bug out through foundations so if you have to toss stuff maybe toss on foundations or in water.

Bonus though if you weren't aware apparently Ice Wyverns act as fridges for milk and with a stack size tweak for preserving salt you can at least make the milk last a decent while. You can tweak the XP limits so you gain less XP for everything You could also drop resource spawn rates, dino spawn rates, increase the dino levels/stats without increasing survivor levels/stats.

Buddy can't spawn on Ragnarok server i made through nitrado but can run every other map fine on servers and can run Ragnarok on singleplayer without issue. Myself and one other player encounter no issues on the Ragnarok server. Problem is a black screen with small visual artifacts which appears to be in-game but with no player functionality. He created our Ragnarok server Sunday, but the server was set to only windows since that’s where he created it. He had to get a refund since you can’t change your crossplay options once the server is made. Any tips/help?

Hello, I am trying to set up a dedicated server for my friend and I. I have a Tunnel Proxy setup using Using Pangolin (self hostable Cloudflare Tunnels but not solely restricted to HTTP/HTTPS traffic like CF tunnels). For whatever reason I'm having a similar issue to Lumen. For whatever reason; it refuses to route through the tunnel proxy and aggressively wants to use my public IP, I don't want it to do that. Does anyone know how to make it use the Proxy IP at the end of the tunnel? Its supposed to just be (on pangolins side) set the private internal IP to the ports I am opening on the VPS there is a wirguard based client called NEWT sitting in my network that acts as the tunnel entry point. For most of my other services all I had to do was point to the internal IP on the VPS side, and for a few others I needed to point to the VPS somewhere in the settings.

Currently trying to add raptors to the wyvern trench / vulcano area on Ragnarok as a test. I've added the following line to my game.ini:

Got it to work. Needed to remove the word String from NPCSpawnEntries and NPCClass and provide the full blueprint path (look up spawn commands, they usually reference it, then add _C at the end.

Hmm yeah it can be odd like that, do you have multiple codes for stacking different things? If so maybe try to put the one with milk higher up or just rearange them. Not sure why but that has helped me a few times where I just put a line of code higher or lower down in the list and then it started working

Okay, so, I want to set up some unofficial servers without really knowing jack shit about it.

I basically want to set unofficial servers up because I don't like mega tribe gameplay. But I also don't like how so many unofficial servers offer donation options. (At least that's how it's on Evo, haven't really checked asa out yet since the first dlcs came out)

Anyway, long story short. I plan to put €1000-2000 in a rack (or whatever you call it) to self host on.

Got a friend irl that'll be helping me out with that.

But I could still use some help setting the unofficial servers themselves up? I basically want a no donation type unofficial server.

i want to start out small (cus dropping 10 servers when you don't know what you're doing sounds like a disaster in progress.)

So I was thinking to start with a 2/3x server with 4/6 tribe, no allies and perhaps a ORB that increases structure and turret health when being offlined?

From there on out it'd like to expand together with the community I'll be building. So, basically, make servers based on community opinion and suggestions.

This'll be a hobby project but I would like to take a professional approach with it. So no admins with perms playing on the server themselves to ensure fair gameplay etc.

Anyone interested in assisting me with setting this up? Still gotta order the rack stuff so it'll take a couple days before that's here.

I'm running the ASA dedicated server on Ubuntu using Proton GE, CPU usage is constantly at 100%. Is there anything I could change to try to fix it?

There are occasionally random lag spikes that are really bad and cause rubber banding, timers even rubber band. The server has a Ryzen 7 7700X and 24 GB of RAM allocated, startup takes 10-15 minutes plus lag time.

I have added some extra dinos via mods to my server, for them to show up do I have to wipe all wild dinos for them to appear or will they appear gradually? Also wiping the wild ones won't affect my current tamed ones? Thanks

If they are gone from your start bat file its wierd, but if they are still there then they just didnt load correctly, if that happens you just need to restart and maybe a rollback if stuff got deleted

If it is for Ragnarok, the vast majority of mods cannot spawn till they are updated. When the dev kit is released then the modders can update their mods. Till then, the spawns likely will not improve much.

Hey folks, I am getting a "Cant place campfire:this structure is out of bounds!" error when trying to place any structure (campfires, foundations, etc.) anywhere on Rag. This is a fresh server I spun up for the new map. I haven't created a server for this game in a bit, but dont recall getting this error in the past.

I have checked .ini settings and goggle doesn't seem to have an answer. No one on the server can place anything. We have tried a range of locations so it shouldn't be a resource rich location restriction or a supply drop, but I enabled those settings just to be safe. There are no mods installed and the server is self hosted through steamcmd. I have tried importing a .ini file from a popular config tool as well but nothing. Everything else seems fine with the config. Reddit and a support ticket has been no help 😦

The only thing that you can’t do is transfer within a cluster if you are playing on the same machine without NAT loopback. But pretty much every router except xfinity can do it.

Nope. I run a 3 server cluster on my pc and switch between steam and xbox flawlessly.

I’ve been where you are at before and I get its frustrating. Networking always sucks because its hard to debug.

The only thing I can suggest is to make their follow distance as short as possible. The problem with that is that they get underfoot all of the time. I just learned to turn around more often to make sure they're still following.

Im hosting a server for friends and I, and we've been taming rexes. We downloaded a dino finder mod due to being unable to find rexes really after 2 days. Well, apparently we only have 13 rexes left on the server, and after another whole day, it hasn't gone up. Any way I can fix this? I dont really wanna have to run around spawning in dinos.

That's certainly true, but they aren't tagged in any way for the actual mod name, nor can you tell which ones are enabled/disabled in any single player game. You'd still need to sort through them manually to identify which ID# goes with which mod, then figure out which ones are enabled in your SP test game. That doesn't seem like a solution to my (small) problem - am I missing something?

look in that folder that SouthCal said, but go to Saved/Config. Look in GameUserSettings and for the Line ActiveMods=. There will be a list of mods that will drop into the Mods= line in your commandline for the server. I did that when I moved my SP to my server last year

personally i had issues with this, whether its being outdated mods or being everything i had downloaded not sure what it was. personally going through each file and doign it one by one is the best bet. if your server is already broken by it, go down into the files to where the server.exe is at and delete the mod files and moduserdata files and then manually adjust gameusersetting

True, they changed a few things since I set up my cluster last year, plus I had wiped my SP and local profile files since then and not played SP.

I use a server manager that lets me add mods from CF and put them in the correct load order, so I think I just used the line from the gus to add the mods to beacon

Guys, be careful with the unofficial EliteArk servers. It took 6 hours for a ticket to get a first reply, 17 hours for the ticket to be open, and the person who helped me kept asking for more information, even though the problem had already happened to me before and was resolved in about an hour. I explained what happened in the general question, and the moderator told me I was going to be silenced for raising the issue. I was silenced and banned from the Elite servers. I've always been respectful and patient in my tickets and on their servers in general. For raising the mistreatment I received, I was automatically silenced. A real shame. Be careful, because they don't value anyone more than those who pay to use their servers.

I found to put DinoDistanceFactor= x in GameUserSettings.ini
and made x=5 but not sure if there is a change, if there is maybe a hardlimit build in, and if it may cause crashes for example console.

Playing Ragnarok the view range just feels far too limited especially when going Wyvern egg hunting. I don't remember this being an issue on Evolved??? Just feels so weird, I would rather have worse graphics and see dino's.

Remove them all. Then start it up again. Work on the connection first. Then add different variables later.
My initial thoughts since you have other successful servers though are:

Firewall rules are different on your local machine than your other servers

All of the sudden our nitrado server keeps giving an error for everyone logging in that says "joining failed unknown error" anyone else see this? It is a crossolay server both Xbox and pc are getting that error.

Alright well ive googled so ill ask here. The unofficial I play on has a ton of maps and other than Rag they work perfectly fine. It either has 0 ping then dc's me or has like 1200 then dc's me but other times its fine and just lets me join. Most of them are in Highlands, the New Highland Island, the swamp Island and the green zone of green orb

Share spawns with Stego, Triceratops there, so if no Bison kill Triceratops and stegos, If u have a Mod on the run for example S Dinos could reduce the spawn

Is there any mods (Shiny dino's as an example) for servers that inhibit the taming of Pyromances? We're getting the final que to tame on both PC and Xbox but it won't take the command. Thank you in advance

So the command to end the tame is Control and left click according the prompt above the hotbar. I think the XBox is right and left bumper or something like that anyway.

Sorry to be a bother. Yeah, we get to 100% and it won't tame out. It eventually kicks the rider off and flames back up.

make sure the maps are installed. They separated the maps out with the 5.5 update. Before, all the maps were in base game making it LARGE. so now, you have to install the individual maps (The Island is base game) to have the engrams available

I don't want to have to visit each map though to learn the engram. I can get all I need on rag for SE engrams like the boomerang. Or does installing the map make it available even if I don't have a server of the map active ?
