Beacon is a crazy tool thats been around for years and gets constant updates, its for building/editing inis, drops, you name it

If there's an ini setting, it's in there.

Currently if you adjust dino spawns you will get 0 dino spawns on the map

In steamcmd, login as usual and then write the following:

download_depot <AppID> <Depot ID> <Manifest ID>

App id is the dedicated server files ID which is: 2430930
Depot ID is: 2430931
Manifiest ID is the ID that steam uses to order old versions which (for 25.55) is 4326933906237823815

This will download the server files for 25.55 in another folder (it will indicate which when it finishes) Just copy-paste those files to your server folder and you're good to go. Remember to do backups in case something goes wrong :)

My steamcmd folder and my ark server folder have like nothing in common tho. so i just copy my steamcmd contents into my ark contents? or just the steamapps folder? All i do is run my bat file to start server, and run a bat file to update the server. so im not sure about much else, aside the config folder, savedarks folder and the mods folder locations @violet dawn

Depending on your tribe file it could be brand new and had an issue before backup only issue sometimes you may have to rollback a full day if the bug persisted before restart soooo tribe files are not an easy fix if you want no rollback or item loss lol

odd but i had my second fatal error since launch... when i tried to log back into my server i got times out... reset server still timed out... rebooted both computers still timed out... joining my server... started a single player game to see if the game was borked...it worked... tried the server again then all was good loaded as expected... may not work for all but was a fast fix for me

We aren't particularly sure either, we did remove the super spyglass mid and things seem to even out a little bit still had a few crashes but not nearly as many. I think there may be something on the map causing the crashes as well but we aren't sure what it is, and the only thing that makes me think that is the fact that when we had 7 to 10 players on and they were all moving around it happened more frequently but this morning when I got up and I got on the server it was just me and one other person and it's been stable all morning and all afternoon.

I did end up writing a .bat file that monitors the status of the application and if it detects that it's not running it will restart it so that helped a little bit as well. My thought on this is to air on the side of caution and strip out all mods with the exception of mods that do not include a lot of logic, like containers or modified smithies, things like that. We plan on stripping out the ascended Dino mods as well as the cryopod mod we use. It's always been my opinion that adding mods this close to launch or relaunch in this case, that it's always a bad idea so I think we're just going to be safe.

Thank you for the detailed reply and yes it seems the same for us the more people fly around the crash / auto restart happens it is like the server cant handle something? it has also been occuring since the updates last night so they might need to fix it on ther end.

I also run the modded dinos and so does @agile stone it seems like -- I bet you the update they did to dino pathing last night conflicts with the mods in some way, and either the mods have to update or WC needs to release a fix.

but, i have a few servers running. so what is happening the server gets stuck in a loop. updating restarting, shut down. its been like that for awhile.

when chatting with nitrado, they told me something about the .arktribe and .tribebak files.
after looking there was a few files that are higher than normal, once remove the map will stay up for alittle bit but go back into the same cycle.

does anyone have a good idea to why this is happening? or really any knowledge to it?

For the game.ini file, it's not normally in the server folder, I think you can just copy the player one there and adjust. Do you need to put in values you're not changing? Or does it default values that you don't add to the file?

So for example if I wanted to only set value, like say EggHatchSpeedMultiplier can I just add that one setting with the appropriate header, or do I need to have all the other values there as well? I would assume you could add just the one value, but not sure. I can test if this isn't known.

I'm connected to a friends house running wireguard. I spun up a windows 2022 server at his house. In my troubleshooting I ensured all ports etc. were solid. So threw up wireshark on my side and the servers side to see the communication channels. It's communicating back and forth but the server never loads on the client.

sounds like the servers are running different level requirements for the engrams, but if they get them after dying multiple times, then maybe it's just a bug that needs to be reported.

After further investigation, we found that tribe files are getting corrupted and are causing this behavior, these are the steps that are working for some affected services:

  1. Stop the server
  2. Back up all of your server files via FTP. Copy all the files to your PC.
  3. Through FTP go to the following directory arksa\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArks\TheIsland__WP look for the .arktribe files that are much larger than the others, if so and the .tribebak file (with the same number) is smaller, it is a good indication. (More than one tribe file can have much larger size than the others)
  4. Rename the .tribebak file to .arktribe keeping the same number after deleting the file with larger size.
  5. In the server web interface, navigate to the Restore Backup section and restore the most recent Map Save Backup, this will restart the server.
  6. Check through FTP if the server has not renewed the corrupt/large .tribeark file, if the file was restored, please contact support..
  7. Check if the server starts correctly. If the server is not appearing in-game, try restoring the next older Map Save Backup.8.Perform another backup of the server as a precaution.

If you do not have any .tribeback file you need to delete the .arktribe file, those who are in the tribe will no longer be part of it, however they will be able to retrieve their items via admin commands.

another thing to consider is actually learning the code. This game is getting close to a decade old and that means people leave and join the team, that means that you have that new guy learning the game code for a few months before they can get to work on fixing stuff.

Also if you are with nitrado I highly recommend you press stop on the server and wait for a few minutes and then start the server, for reasons I dont understand there sems to be a low probability of teh update applying if you just press restart

I always leave my dedicated server online overnight, but for some reason it acts like everything stops when no one is on the server. No idea. My guess is they will add an option to enable it, or it could only be supported on nitrado servers. Console require a certain amount of control over the experience.
