Yeah that's what I kinda figured. Nekatus isn't about the PVP and doesn't care about it at all so, any caves/locations that are good for PVP would be purely accidental on maps made by him. Which is a shame I think many map creators are the same which I don't understand too much.

I get having a vision for your art but if you are making it for the community a great idea would be to cater to both sides of it, which is very possible with having the same vision in mind. FJ was great for PVP albeit maybe accidental lol.

Yeah pve is the majority of the player base. The single digit pvp servers should tell you what the pvp community thinks, there is not a single good spot on land that's not a giant 2 way entrance cave.

I couldn't even find a starter base spot to hide. everything is just gonna get built into or zeppelin bombed.

Yeah it's definitely a shame tbh. I mean the map is early in development there might yet me new upcoming spots that work out to be great for PVP (accidentally lol).
I never got to whole appeal to PVE in Ark unless you pump the gameplay with Mods in Singleplayer or PVE Unofficial servers.

Basekit PVE Ark is the most mundane gameplay ever I never understood the appeal (without tons of mods)

I guess it appeals to some but, exclusively PVE is I don't know.... in other games 100% because the actual gameplay exists and there is usually either a story you are following that the game is overall focused around (like Skyrim) or you have a bunch of progression and entire purpose around basically fighting ever increasing bosses (Like for example V Rising or hell even Conan Exiles).

But with Ark it's I don't know, has none of that. The story exists and sure it's neat but it's true only gameplay purpose it ever has had is XP bonuses mainly to reach level 80 at the start of the game. Sure there is breeding and building but, the building isn't even that great in Ark tbh and Breeding is of course great but almost pointless very quickly as boss fights don't require major amount of it usually

It's all preference I'km not saying you are wrong for liking what you like.

I'm just saying I don't really get it especially at the scale PVE community is or has been in the past. Ark to me has always been very focused on the PVP elements to provide the sustenance of gameplay.

I think it just really depends on the type of person you are. I dont even do boss fights cause I get too attached to my critters lol, its part of why i dont do pvp . I play ark to have a (mostly) relaxing time and I genuinely enjoy taming pretty critters and running around on my creatures and building and im pretty happy with that honestly. Arks one of my favorite games. This isn't to say that there couldn't be gameplay improvements or anything though, there certainly could

Though to be fair I'm not someone who plays pvp games really at all with the exception of the occasional creature survival game like path of titans. Fighting other players isn't really fun for me

The idea of having the creatures I tame get killed by someone having a bad day or having my base I spent hours on building destroyed just seems exhausting. But I also only play a few hours in the evening typically

It's not for everybody and certainly most of the time is time consuming. I like both PVE & PVP games but the gameplay kinda just has to be there for me to touch PVE. I think thats what Ark 2 was going for with a more PVE story driven experience

If you have a full time job or a super busy schedule and can only play a few hours here and there ( not saying there are people who play pvp who aren't also busy ) then maybe playing pve is easier with friends then having to worry about fighting idk, but either way of playing is valid as long ad you're having fun i think

Yeah they definitely will, it will just have like a singleplayer storymode & likely able to do that story in online play too. Either PVE or PVP it would be integrated into the core gameplay loop

With a heavy focus on a new combat/mobility system that would be a lot like Conan Exiles

And more of a primitive experience and aside from flintlock guns, it won't have modern day tier weapons or tek tier

Which does strip 2/3 of the gameplay out of the game and opens up to questionable issues with QoL with how they will balance and handle that, as most of the QoL stuff is easy with modern day & Tek tier solutions

Anti Cheat doesnt work at all on any ark servers... its a joke what they call their anti cheat. they cant even disable important console commands that community shows daily... game is ruled by money and cheats. they would make less money if they fix their game. believe it or not..
