Nanite doesn't make shit bigger or smaller in file size.
It just makes high-poly stuff have better performance and LoD's.
High-poly meshes will always be large, but it'll make some games have lower size, or the same amount of size (depending on how the dev's use it) since you no longer need like 5+ difference versions of every single mesh for LoD's.

This mesh will always be 2Gb, and you don't need 4 other versions that're different sizes to make LoD's, which without Nanite would make it go up to like 4Gb lets say.
Nanite will just automatically crank the details down of that single 2Gb mesh, making it that you don't need multiple versions of the same mesh.

Rockwell is proper done. There's no room for the devs to retcon that. He was wrapped up very nicely, and reverting that would undermine HLNA's sacrifice.

That being said, it is possible we visit the destroyed ship remains as a later DLC and find out it somehow still supports life (Aberration style), and we see references to him... Heck maybe they will retcon HLNA's sacrifice for something like that (she does allude to it in her final monologue), but Rockwell has to be proper done. The Genesis appearance made 100% sense, Ark 2 not so much...

I also don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities to have another split timeline like from Ark:SE where a group of the peeps that crashed landed on Aratai either got news of the earth being cleansed somehow, or decided they can fix it themselves, or just want to see their home planet remains and we get a dlc that returns to earth and we get set in like Arat Prime and we see more Rockwell history, but once again, I don't think he can show up effectively other than references.

I think Ark 2’s beta will do very good, but I also think some people have their expectations set too high and need to keep in mind this is early access and an unfinished game. A finished game should not be expected because then it would just be released as the official game, not early access

I played half my ark hours in monster hunter world, and the monster hunter hours were way more engaging and immersive despite the third person. I think third can be just fine if the gameplay works with it 🙂

Not to say I don’t love ark: I do. But in terms of hours spent…a lot of those hours are used on highly repetitive material grinding and breeding rather than actually surviving out in the wild

Yeah, it’s really not that far off of from like Genesis if you think about it though. You had to do the missions to fight the boss and get the engrams. I personally am looking forward to seeing how it’s done. I’ve been asking for a sandbox survival game with more RPG aspects for a long time and it really seems like WC is delivering that.

A lot of people share that concern. I don’t think it’ll interfere to much with either though. Every change from Ark 1 they’ve mentioned so far seems positive. The forced 3rd person being the only real outlier. But I don’t think it’ll be that bad. It’s best to remember it’s not Ark 1 though, and it’s not a dlc. It’s an entirely new game, so if you go in expecting Ark 1 with some extra goodies you are gonna wind up disappointed.
