Just a reminder, the writers strike is still being resolved, the animated series as I understand is funded by the awesome dev team not wildcard studios, this means that they have the choice to postpone the release of the animated series if they want in support of said strike (agreement has been reached in writers strike but not fully signed off afaik)

Writers strike would have also meant that they are basically having to start over with negotiating with platforming services (any active negotiations wouldve undermined the strike, but can resume now that everything is almost resolved)

Or…. Its just ark devs pulling an ark dev and being fashionably late

They mentioned in the Community Crunch 6 Months ago that the 14 episodes from season one are now in there post-production phase (VFX, Music, Sound and co) so till know, there is no official news that the series is finished and ready for a streaming platform.

And when it comes to finding a streaming platform, then they of course want to get a good deal, also lots of money from that plattform. I think with the reputation ARK got in the last few months its probably not the best time to make such a deal, i guess they start negotiations with these streaming platforms after release of ASA and plan the lunch of the series shortly before ARK 2 gets released in order to build up some hype for its release.

Yeah at this point season 3 might be done since when I asked her and she said 2 was finished was over 3 months ago. I can see Netflix maybe getting it, but with how many people are leaving because of the account linking restrictions I doubt it. Definitely wouldn’t be Disney plus because they having the series is essentially having rights to the game as well in terms of the way contracts work. If Disney gets the series, they also have a say in what happens in game and the company. Unlike Hulu or Prime Video. And I think that if the show isn’t released before 2024 then they’re gonna say “fck it” and just upload the series on YouTube like helluva Boss did.

The series features a lot of famous voice actors but if you pay attention to its creators, you'll notice that it is actually being worked on by ARK's original creators, just with Russel Crowe and Vin Diesel as executive producers. (Which is basically like putting your stamp on a book written by a dozen other people.)

That said, considering the strikes earlier in the year, the upheaval in the industry and just how difficult it is to work with as many famous voices as they are working with (its not like they all show up at the same time to do their lines etc) there's a fair number of different issues that could be going on right now.

Platforms aren't an easy choice to make, many platforms want exclusive rights to shows, and don't like it if there's a chance the show will walk away. Not to mention discussions on profit management (if there is to be one) and the viability of the platform itself. For example, we all have our platforms of choice right? HBO Max, Disney Plus, Netflix, Hulu etc.

If you're stuck in an exclusivity deal with one platform, you're cutting out a good chunk of audience no matter where you go. Streaming platforms also seem to do better or poorly very randomly or just nix/sell shows on an increasing whim. Makes sense that they don't want to jump the gun and put it onto something that may turn out to be a bad choice.

Last I saw on the production of the show (though I'll admit this was a while ago) was that they were nearing finishing writing/production on Season 2. So it's safe to say that while the platform issue might be taking more to get through, they'll at least have content ready when it does go through.

The strike isn't mentioned in relation to the series being 'complete' (which to my knowledge it is not, only up to season 2). They're mentioned in relations to striking a deal with a major studio/streaming provider, which were all involved in that mess. Even if they were 80% way through a deal by the time the strikes happened, either side could have walked away during the trouble. IT wasn't just writers that went on strike after all it was actors too.

I can't imagine they'd have invested and completed so much only for it to be pulled without an announcement. If you want to take it as another positive sign also, their trailers are still up. I've seen projects removed without an announcement with the trailers following to make it seem as if it never existed. But Historically WC has made announcements on all their projects, starting, closing, or delayed.

It isn't. I've seen some pretty accurate explanations here about the platform question. Even if there are platforms offering, you wanna ensure to reach the right audience and the most people of that audience. The TV show I'm part of has the same issues over and over again. With every new season, a new contract has to be filed if it wasn't in the initial one and with every season it has to be evaluated which networks are best. Let's say the ARK series gets an offer from Netflix. Netflix usually offers exclusivity for new series. Now you as producer have to ask these questions: Is that what you were looking for? Is the revenue share good? Are you able to reach your target audience and how many would you reach? Such things can make or break a deal. So making sure to find the right platform with the right deal is very important or you'll lose money.

Pretty much. Latest rumors suggested season 1 is done and they're working on production for season 2, but they currently have no platform for release and only information on that is they would announce the platform at the end of 2023...so...probably end of 2024 for an announcement the way WildCard goes.

Why isn't it available on anything? From what I've heard they have already completed season 1 and have began development for season 2. With this kind of progress I could be on YouTube TV, DVD, or could be a even have on streaming sites like peacock (because peacock will take any show no one else will). If this is am issue with monetization, the only thing holding them back is themselves either to a lack of funding or they are being hyper critical of the quality.
