Shadowmanes started appearing when he started taking over the ship and served to drive off the ship's staff from his ring/area; they had never seen them before so it's a safe bet he made them. Personally I think they were a pun on "lionfish" and he thought it was really, really funny

One question though: the dinos that were on the Lunar Biome on Genesis part 1 (i know it's a simulation But come on), the surface of Aberration and the -Space- on Genesis Part 2 (that involve the tek variant of creatures, Seekers, Reapers variants, Nameless, mechanical creatures like Attack Drones and Defense Units, Astrocetus, Astrodelphis and weirdly X-Sabertooth Salmon, Aberration creatures and Voidwyrm, does that mean that they can survive on a zero oxygen environment ? Like I get the machine and tek ones can because they are machines (although the tek variants eat meat and berries) but like the others ? Because I think it's quite weird to see those organic beings be able to live on zero oxygen/or not oxygen ecosystem knowing that they based on Earth Animals (most are hybrids of Earth Animals who need oxygens) 🤔

Heck i'm even surprised that us players can go up of those place without a tek suit or a scuba tank and survive like, on the Surface it's not the lack of oxygen that kill us, but the creatures or the other hazards so does that mean humans on Ark verse can breath without oxygens ?

It was at first a passing thought, but it did start to push more at his mind. Funnily, ALL the main survivors started to have delusions appear in their minds. To some degree, that was also part of the issue-just blasting people from across history in "Kill you" conditions will break most people mentally off the bat, and the main survivors...well they didn't entirely break, but they each had their own coping methods. None healthy, one in particular (hi Rockwell) being damning.

I do personally think that we could have non major mechanics based creatures, aka endemic life. Like per se in those in monster hunter, I like to imagine more biodiversity that creates a better food web and relationships with the flora, fungi, microbes and landscape! Even though on the arks its all tailored to be in the same state for re-seed.

One thing I think about is how megafauna can have such a dramatic effect on the landscape in real life, so it does make sense why theres so much maintenance from the arks system, because a lot of forest habitat would be lost due to soil compaction being a main reason!

The Gateway Project was constructed, because they had no means to get off of the ARK after blowing up the Overseer Deck. But also to break The Systems own standards.
If I recall right, the ARK's have two main ways to activate the Reseed Protocol.
A: automatic, if the system on Earth detects that the Corruption levels have lowered to a safeish amount.
B: allowing a skilled survivor to go directly to Earth after proving themselves, and lower it manually. (killing whatever is increasing it)
The automatic system though couldn't had been activated, due to the Corruption levels only increasing as time went on.
This, along with forcing the ARK's into orbit longer then intended, is why they became so hostile. Both environmentally and the Overseers themselves.
If I recall, the more the Corruption pollution increased, the higher the standard for a Survivor to get onto Earth became.
To the point that it was basically impossible, where The System gave Survivors such a unrealistic expectation of ascensions to go through that it became meaningless.
That's why the Gateway Project was needed for us, and why we go to Aberration. Because it has the only way now to go directly to Earth without The Systems absurd standards.

Mei and Helena kind of have feelings for each other on Ext, but Mei doesn't progress any further due to Diana's death.
Then Helena gets vaporized by becoming a Homo-Deus, and that's that.

That Element is in every universe to some degree, but goes by different names and have different rules. But ultimately still spreads one way or another.
That's what I thought Mythos was going to be during ATLAS.
That basically Corruption physically manifested is in every reality. And different people from different realities have to get rid of it differently.

I can see the pros and cons of both. By bringing them back, you can make them an active part of the story, and with ark 2 seemingly having more RPG elements, having an already known cast could benefit it greatly. On the other hand, yeah, most of these characters arcs were done.

-Nerva acts as the earliest antagonist, and does his job.
-Rockwell got his overarching decent into madness and becomes ARK-1's main antagonist.
-Helena acts as the protagonist for the notes, and due to that creates the foundation for the player protagonist to finish what she started. Acting as the more-or-less cliche guide role almost every fantasy hero back in the 90s to early 2000s had.
-Mei-Yin's entire character arc is about an isolationist with trauma slowly coming out of her shell due to a good friend, and eventually has a relationship for Diana. Only then for that to be ripped away from her, becoming more depressed, but still needing to look out for Helena.
We should've gotten some lore of her defending Diana with to their expedition to Arat Prime, ending her arc. (but for some reason they glossed over that for ass recreations of events we already had)
-Santiago is a selfish smartass Oppenheimer that also helped construct Tek weaponry of any type, clearly for money. He directly helped contribute to the Element war, and in turn the fall of all life on Earth. His arc finished when he sacrificed himself for the remaining Tek Tribe out of selflessness.
There's really no need to bring any of these characters back. Their stories where finished. Their entire arcs where finished. (with the exception of Mei-Yin, that LC doesn't even fucking finish, but just makes that map another milestone in her new arc)
The only character that 'maaaybe' should've came back, was Diana. With possibly Mei sacrificing herself to upload Diana to the Super Luminal Uplink, and for her to help on the events of Genesis.

-Meeka's entire arc so far is to resurrect Diana. And I have a bad feeling that, instead of a theme about moving on and accepting losses, they're going to actually bring her back because "yeah! Meeka is happy now!".

Every character almost has that as their plotline, and Wildcard just didn't bother.
-Darius can't move on from what is basically a dead kingdom from a bygone era, and that his time has come.
-Edmund should've doubled down on either his daughters death, or actually trying to move on from Element and be somewhat good. Only for his second consciousness basically killing him, and taking over his body.
Edmund would've rather die and move on then be converted.

Mhm. You could even throw in a theme of moving by having ||Mei Yin stay behind on earth after her defeat, seeing that she and Helena are going on separate paths, and rather than following, she moves on.||

Yeah i strongly feel that rather than lovingly craft a narrative that's good in its own right and fits the existing story, for Lost Colony they are essentially just using it as an advertising vehicle for TAS and Ark 2. And it makes me sad

the only character I find compelling on lost colony, is the lost king himself. I havent found all his notes yet, and havent looked into spoilers on his backstory. but something tells me that he actually does kind of care about the thralls he controls.

his is probably the only thread im going to pull. I havent looked much into rockwells side, but with the animated series being pulled into it im not that confident... and I hate what they did with the other characters

I am actually intrigued, but ill try searching his notes myself to put the pieces together. and with the headcanon im forming after watching the cutscenes from the boss fight (which cost us the ascention btw because of a timer bug) I have a lot more understanding for his motivations as it seems he is just trying to do the same thing the homodeus were, with little reguard for people outside his group.

there is something that kinda triggered for me when in the final fight || I realized that he intentionally put himself on the line for his people, and then sent in the lost queen as a last resort. if he was truly a selfish king he would have just sent her in like an attack dog to begin with. but no, he gave his own life trying desperately to protect his people, and then had to fall back on his last hope. it has made me think over what the thralls actually are. that moment and other voice lines lead me to believe that the thralls might not be mindless husks, but actual thinking and feeling beings.||

Going off what was explained, the events of lost colony is 1000 years after the reseed activation and in turn the ships apparent destruction going off everything known and the current events is seemingly before ark 2… which doesn’t make any sense at all

The ark 2 aka arat planet survivors should off of died of old age if this was the case

My personal head canon is that this takes place a few years after reseed and Helena deus asked us to go to arat prime to try and deal with Rockwell since she sensed him survive and he would put everything in danger all over again if he somehow deactivated the reseed protocol

I would have preferred where they had to go to arat prime, fight the lost king to get genesis to launch, and then either making it with genesis, or just living the rest of their lives together and in love, eventually dieing of old age, much like Raia but with a happy ending, as thats what mei deserves

As said, the Diana and Santiago relationship likely happened just before the tek war ended. They likely had meeka around when Santiago was killed and the tek war stopped

The Santiago on aberration along side Diana is likely the ones around the time WAY before the end of the war

This would fill in the weird holes and explain the issues with Diana and Santiago on the genesis ship, those ones are just different ones

It’s more so cursed on aberration with mods, certain creatures just don’t spawn and I ran into like 3 hapipalus in blue zone all together

also i find it interesting reapers (and rockdrakes) live near a constant overexposure of element in aberration which makes you think they are immune to the stuff but there are corrupted rockdrakes and reapers on extinction

you would think there would be corrupted dinos in the redzone

like there is literally molten raw element flowing like rivers in the redzone

Well the molten element and the corruption I’m pretty sure aren’t the exact same

They would be more mangled monsters for sure if they consumed the molten element as seen with the mutant lightpet in aberration Rockwells notes but they wouldn’t be like the corrupted

The corrupted are distinctly different since they are existing creatures exposed to the spores of the overused element, as seen with the corrupted roots, they share similar looks to the corrupted creatures so it’s THAT causing the corruption, not raw molten element

well from my understanding isnt element by its very nature corrupting? even the stuff used in tek is what caused the spread of it

As said, the molten element triggers mutations not like corruption which corruption is akin to a fungi controlling something

There’s additional stuff I kinda thought but which could likely explain some stuff about the corruption but that also adds more questions

i still find it funny how they go out of their way to call rockwells modified element hes been testing on purple element when...element is already purple by default lol

corrupted dinos glow purple, element ore and the element rivers are purple on aberration ect

even the rockdrake trench is now basically a purple rave zone lol in ase like good grief
