I have a technical question not directly related to Ark, just looking for different opinions if possible and if someone is willing to waste their time replying.

I have an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-528V, it suddenly turned off, and the times it would turn on it would after 5 to 2 hours give a BSOD "WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR". I already imagined it was something in the mobo after trying a few different tests (turning on with battery disconnected, turning on without charger connected, with second monitor to check if it was the screen, tested rams and ssd).

After taking it to a tech shop, I was informed it is a repair of the power supply circuit, due to stress on the power supply that feeds the GPU. The cost to repair would be 920 ( ~$170 in dollars). I paid around 5000 for it (~$900 in dollars).

Tech says it is a simple repair, and that if it is only that, it could work for years.

The main question I'd like opinions is if it is worth it. I had this laptop for around 5 years now, only use it to work atm. Searching online there are mixed opinions, some people report the problem returned after 2 to 6 months, or that other things became faulty because of it. I'd like to get AT LEAST 1 to 2 years of usage if I repaired it, but with uncertainty, it seems more cost-effective to buy a new laptop, which would be a more basic version for work only, the repair price would be 30% the price of a new one.

TL:DR is it worth to repair a 5 years mobo when it is 30% the cost of a new (lesser) laptop, and would I have 1-2 years of usage with said repair?

that sounds like a bogus diagnosis (it would be very hard to confirm such a physical issue), and WHEA errors usually mean CPU issues. since it is a laptop, though.. you really cant get it repaired without replacing the whole motherboard + soldered-in CPU/GPU, so that price quote is also nonsense

also doubtful that a laptop that sounds like it has a GTX 1050 mobile that pulls similar wattage to a pen light in it "stressed" any power circuit

yeah, laptop parts are basically all firmly attached to the board, except the battery, drives, and sometimes memory. it may be something you can reduce/fix via firmware/software tweaks, but with the age of the system, probably is hardware failure

Is there a workaround for the 10 FPS bug? A player in our cluster has an Nvidia card (on Win11) and is dropping to 10 FPS. The game is currently unplayable for her.
She did the following:

• Upscaler => DLSS -> UNREAL -> 50 FPS and then drops.
• Switch to Window (F11) -> only helps temporarily
• The latest Nvidia driver is installed
• Low Performance Mode -> 10 FPS

Next:

• DDU to delete Nvidia driver and reinstall current driver
• Delete GUS.ini

Any other ideas?

I'd suggest testing enabling the mods one by one to find out which one is causing the message. While a mod says it is updated to the latest version, it can still cause issues. Just be mindful if you have any mods for structures or creatures that disabled could make you lose them, worth to make a backup of your save files before removing mods.

Thats annoying, before the update i used the ALFA incubator mod, which was the incubator from ASE, you could take the egg out at any stage and there were no temperature settings all jsut auto

Yh DLLSG is not working, if you enable nvidia framegen in the menu and use the statfps command it says FRGEN ON which is AMD FI

If you turn AMD FI off with the command it says FRGEN OFF in stat fps, but then if you enable DLSSG/ nvidia framegen through commands it just turns FRGEN back on

the only reliable way to get the fps issue to replicate from what i've had happen is to be rendering large chunks of the map. when still in base it can take up to 10 mins for it to reoccur.

it happens 80% of the time for me as i load in for the first time

after changing my settings from fullscreen to windowed it fixes it temporarily before it occurs again

the time between it reoccurring is dependent on how much of the map im rendering, flying and loading lots of the map causes it to reoccur in 1 min compared to 10 while still

Thats because AMD Frame interpolation stops in open menus/ inventory and starts when closed, nvidia framegen doesnt do this by defualt (DLSSG Full screen menu detection)

I have a person who is trying to join my server. Its a selfhosted server and they haven't played for a while. Ok. So I did some experimentation. My server has only one mod wchi is Primal Nemesis. so the WHOLE base is vanilla. But I only crash inside or near my base. After several crashes and tries I made it far enough from my base that it doesn't crash anymore. Which means there is something on my base that is crashing. My suspicion is the broken skins because I can't think of anything else since its all vanilla. AND I have "download skins" disabled for the dynmaic download and it still crashes. So i don't know.

Since you released the %.% update and now all mods are running normally again, I've been having the problem that my PS5 is giving me the error message that it's getting too hot! The problem is, it wasn't doing this before the update, and I could play ARK ASA on the PS5, but not on my PC. Now I can play the game on my PC and on my Steam Deck, but not on the PS5? Do I have to buy a new PS5 so I can play ARK ASA again? Not everyone really has the money for a new one! Or for a good PC! I just think the graphics in general for ARK ASA on the PC aren't very good; they were much better on the PS5, and now I can't play the game anymore because of the update! It would be great if you could solve this problem for many PS5 players who have it!

If you’ve got a decent chainsaw I’m pretty sure that’s the most efficient way. I play on a 3x harvesting server and it took me a good few hours to get 80k just from brontos and the like.

sooo funny thing occured. well depends on whats funny. but i am now having to put my weaker animals away in pods. because apparently wild dinos are spawning INSIDE our builds. i was away hunting dodos when i recieved a death notification of my snow owl and gatcha (which isn't too much a problem for me cause i have tons of clones of them. but when i went back to investigate what happened. there was no sign of entry. infact the only thing broken was the greenhouse wall inbetween the gatcha house and the raising how. which was a inside window.. no contact to the outside. i have no idea if animals are spawning INSIDE. or they are striaght up phasing through stuff.. oh right i did catch a diplo phasing into my building one time. just curious if i'm going crazy or what not.

Are there any people who have solved the problem with the DLC from Gamepass Xbox version on PC? I just purchased gamepass, and I wanted to play Ark, but with recent updates, I now need to install maps, and naturally I installed them via the Xbox App, however, for some reason the game does not see them, when I try to access the downloaded map, it opens the Microsoft Store and assures me that that I have already purchased this card, and nothing else. I have an odd question.(On official PVE servers) say a server crashes while you have babies out. do your babies need to get re-rendered again before they start growing? Or are server rates only 1x currently? we've had carch babies out for 14h(a lot of which was while we were offline and our server had crashed for ~25 ish minutes at one point) and they're only at 4.9%

Unfortunately it means ARK arked, and there isn't much we CAN do until they fix it or figure it out if that's the problem there for the GPU crash. If it's drivers it's a driver manufacturer issue and not our hardware either

Pretty much, if it's not happening in other UE 5 games then it's safe to say it's not generally our fault. There are small cases to this such as a faulty piece but then you'd really know because it'd be happening with everything not just ARK

And the fact it's happening on many models of graphics card, it could be the driver problem in general if it's just Nvidia, but if it's AMD too it's more likely the game itself

I expect that the game won't work well on PC/Steam until Wildcard releases a patch. The VRAM memory leak makes the game unplayable and from what I'm seeing, it's a render issue. All we can do is hope that the devs will release a fix sometime this week

I think the game fails to unload assets that aren't needed anymore and just pushes more and more stuff to VRAM. That VRAM fills up and then Windows starts using RAM instead, which is why a lot of people are getting 5 FPS per second and render latency of 500ms

I am using an amd card, before the update, I was getting between 100-90 FPS while frame generation was on, when the last update came, I open frame generation, FPS 60-50 frame generation seems to be active, but I guess it doesn't work, does anyone encounter such a problem?

General rule of thumb, if it has big teeth and looks like a raptor/rex/spino/anything you're familiar with, or has four legs and looks like a sabertooth or meat eating animal you wouldn't go near- don't go near it unless you have a decent amount of spears or arrows/ammo. Youstill might die. The birds that circle overhead that look like pelicans on the beach are not your friend, they'll steal your food and you won't be able to shoot them down, and they'll still come after you. Dododex and the wiki (the online websites) are your friend!

Oh also anything with long claws that looks like a Freddy Kruger bird is also not your friend
