Multiple people on my Nitrado-hosted unofficial server are reporting losing their character. When they log in, it prompts them to create a new character as if their character save is gone (despite their character still being in the world).
My tribe of about 8-10 people also got wiped off the map - everyone including the tribe leader (me) was removed from the tribe when we logged in. I was able to fix this by claiming all the buildings and dinos and starting a new tribe, but there's clearly a big issue here.
Any ideas what it might be?

does the vanilla archelon (did a dino wipe to spawn them and just tamed this guy) keep resetting behavior to "attack my target" for anyone else? I set him to passive via radial but the second I look away and look back, the settings revert. Single player ASA world
Adding it to a tame group before setting the behavior does seem to be working for the time being.

your GPU crashing is definitely not an ark thing. if it was just the game itself crashing, maybe, but that is a hardware failure

heaven is so old it is pointless, furmark is a heavy compute bench.. i have seen it fail to trigger memory instability that goes off randomly in games, including ASA

unfortunately there is no easy way to test VRAM. all i can suggest is you framerate cap the game, try underclocking your VRAM a little, and see if anything changes

evolved is also pretty heavy on the GPU, if you allow it

Can anyone tag a dev or admin. I have been unable to sign into the game on my xbox for 5 days. I've deleted and re-downloaded the game multiple times. I have prepaid 3 years of xbox online. It tells me I don't have permission to play on multi-player. Usually it's due to an update but everything is updated.

I've been hosting a large Ark Cluster for 2-3 years with no issues until recently. Now, I can only play for about 10 minutes at a time before the game crashes. The error is usually something like:

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

Verified integrity of game files via Steam.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
Updated to the latest graphics drivers (clean install) and rolled back to a previous version.
Checked hardware for instability or throttling (other AAA titles run fine).
Lowered graphical settings and ran in windowed mode.
Disabled background apps to free up resources.
Reinstalled DirectX (system already has the latest version).
Checked Event Viewer and found DistributedCOM errors (Event ID 10016).
Configured DCOM permissions but no impact on the crashes.
Tried launching the game in extremely low memory mode.
Adjusted the TdrDelay in the registry to increase GPU timeout limits.
Launched with "-norhithread" argument (helped slightly; I can play for about 30 minutes before crashing).
Has anyone experienced similar issues or found a fix? I'd appreciate any advice, as I’m struggling to moderate my Cluster with these constant crashes.

get rid of all launch args and delete your config files for the game, to start. i have seen way too many cases of instability due to a mess of weird config, often stuff the user was unaware had been changed, or possibly due to interference from other software

also, goes the game crash on performing any particular actions, like flying, moving camera rapidly?

I don’t typically notice a particular action causing the crash but the crash does always happen when I do something, including but not limited to mounting, dismounting, flicking the camera, opening inventories, loading new areas, etc

Since rolling back the drivers didn’t fix anything I have updated back to the most recent nvidia drivers, my frame rate is capped at 170 and I tried running everything on low and that didn’t help so I’m back to everything on epic/high again

it would only help if it reduced hardware load. set the cap to 60, or 30. if that stops it, it is a hardware issue

it probably is anyway with such frequent crashes, if you are not running any weird configs, but it still has to be narrowed down to a component

I can run other much more intensive games at much higher frame rates with no issues

Framerate capped to 150 my Usage is at around 50% and capped to 60 I'm at around 30% usage and still crashed on both

Yes its common. Once you are online for quiet a while and then you teleport it will stop crashing. You have to wander a lot of map for it too. Don’t know what’s the mechanics after this but it worked for me.

The cave of lost hope is recommended as a good place to get it but this is the hardest cave on ark

I think I got my allo from cave of lost faith which isn't that hard compared to lost hope, or like I said before the carnivore cave which is really easy with a decent baryonix you can do it

if you are on console, stuff will be lower resolution to begin with, then you may also not have enough memory to fully load everything in a scene, depending on complexity. nothing you can do about either without risking severely worse performance and crashes

Funny thing about that, 2 days ago I saw a Reddit post about an Xbox update fixing the beacons, screenshot attached. I didn't believe it and joined my server to check and there they were. Well it’s happening on all 3 servers I visit to multiple tribemates and it started with the patch update before this last one. It’s just annoying since while ASE was far from perfect it at least ran better than what we are currently getting, the only thing that’s ascended so far is half my game time.

I am basing this on the first year of ASE, where several PVE and PVP servers were sunsetted because of AFK players. Quite frankly, I don't think it would happen in the ASA because of steam, Xbox and Playstation being together. But I could be wrong.

They are all around except for the east side of the ocean. The best spawns I found were up north above the blue ob mountain, to the left of herb island and roughly center of the water down south. They always spawn with a small group of jellies, down deep and everything tries to kill them. I think a lot if people are struggling because they are either tamed very quickly or are being killed by wildlife fast. I found about 50 in roughly 2 hours of searching and tamed the best 8 on the day they released. They were very common but it probably helped that it was pretty much just me and one other person looking and we killed the low levels and the jellies that spawn with them.

If you don't have double the amount of space on your current drive, and have another larger drive (potentially slower), it will update on that drive instead.

For example, if I don't have 155gb x 2 (roughly) available on my main SSD where ASA is installed, it will then default to updating on my vastly slowly hybrid HDD I have for mass storage of various things instead of on the much faster SSD.

And so it will be "stuck" on that 1% installing when it's actually just sorting through all the files to find the areas that need updating and patching those specifically. You just have to wait awhile in that scenario since it's a lot of data to go through and now it's going through at a much slower pace than on the main SSD.

I fixed that from happening to me by just ensuring that I have a bit more than 155gb (game's size) x 2 and it's never happened to me since.

not every base. how said the issue started with the oasis and got pretty worse. Then the freezes were shorter but not solved. The moment aberration got released the rendering issues got much more worse. on aberration there is no oasis. but on every other map i come into the render of an oasis i get freezes. from short one up to 30 seconds (!). And since the aberration release it also happens pretty often that i cant fly over some bases (scorched earth for example... minutes ago) without getting the same freezes... with and without oasis.

How do I stop my sir-5rm8 from taking fertilizer out of my crop plots? I have 5 stacks of fert set as input and withdrawal enabled on each plot, I have a vault of fert with withdrawal enabled, and I have my fridges set with 80 stacks of each crop as input. Then I'll check the bot after a while and it'll be black boxed with fertilizer and have a bunch of empty crop plots. I get that it could use other plots as a source to withdraw to fill other ones, but I start with them all full and it still does this.

I'm having trouble transferring from map to map. I'm my own enemy tribe when I'm playing on single player. I can't reach any of my beds it won't let me spawn in any of my beds it's like I'm a new tribe a new player

The only way to fix the problem. Is to create a character for each map. So I'm going to have to create a character for the island scorched Earth aberration the center and the new Greek map that is on Early Access for a mod map. Which I didn't really want to do but it looks like I have to

Like for exampl the visual storage mod you can change the wireless crafting distance but it doesn't works all the time for all servers, just randomly working and i know it based on wildcard system so maybe something about that exist idk

there are limits on consoles like the PS5 and Xbox with RAM that you will hit with running a lot of mods before you run out of storage space. Never mind the compatibility issues because nobody tests one mod with another.

It can be a pain to tame one, I use argi to break beehive in redwoods forest and leave my carcha at a safe distance, both on passive, after the bee breaks away I use repelent on me and my argi, sometimes I use flak but full ghillie is recommended, maybe cactus broth if you have, when the bee renders you will have to ruse to it and try to look for taming option, if you fail, its rinse and repeat, place the kibble or rare flower which is 1 you will need to tame a bee on your last slot hotbar

everytime i try and boot up a previous save file on host/local (ASE) it consistently comes up with a fatal error, i do have mods but ive already tried reinstalling, joining without em, uninstalling and booting up the save that way and still nothing. Past few days been plagued with the " Not Logged In" "login failure" error. Have tried every fix everyone can think of, retstart game. Wait a few mins for your name to change from Player1, sat and waited for an hour stil no change. verify files, reinstal game, re-log and autenticate with steam.
