Anyone else experienced all the glowing/ambient lighting feature whatever it is that for example, when you wear a glow pet on Ab makes everything else completely dark? Or say you look at a bright light source, then back at the landscape all the light stuff is dark but very slowly fades back to being lit the longer you focus on it? Is there a way to turn this off and have everything always just normal? xD Its like focus for a camera but is absolutely annoying in the game experience...

Oh yeah, the glow pets and lighting are broken on aberration right now. I believe it's due to the reloading that frequently happens.

TBF aberration was always pretty glitchy back in the ASE days but right now is the worst it's ever been.

Aberration is my favorite map. I've probably got more hours on this map than all the others combined. 😅

I mean specifically w/ ARK and the ab drop, though. Phyre, based on your description, I'd guess that the client is loading the Inventory UI in a loop which is filling your VRAM causing the GPU to hang.

As far as why... I don't know. It could be a DX issue, a driver issue, or a corrupt file issue. If it were a driver issue, I imagine we'd see a multitude of reports. The 3060TI isn't a rare card, so there should be several players with those. A DX issue could be with the DX installation on your PC. DX is built into windows anymore, so your best bet there is to do a sfc /scannow in terminal with admin priviledges. Verifying file integrity is how you'd fix corrupt files, though ARK's pretty notorious for circumventing processess like that, so you might try a full uninstall/reinstall of ARK making sure to purge the game's local files after uninstall.

that is not how computers work. you can set it to a higher resolution, but performance will drop proportionately and the game will crash more due to running out of memory more easily. console fixes the resolution to what can be run without unplayable performance

Sometimes it ends up in your character, but normally not. When you ascend off a map you want to put everything in a dino, including the rewards and your chibis and your tools, so it will get sent back to the terminal safely. It's not like the boss fights on the Island, defeating the Manticore or Rockwell is more like defeating the Overseer.

You need a minimum of 3 (leader +2) but I believe the absolute maximum is 15.

I recently used allos to fight alpha bosses. I suggest you level them all slightly differently so you can trigger multiple pack leaders.

When you defeat the Oversser, Manticore or Rockwell, you are 'done' with the map and expected to move on to the next. (Extinction is a kind of complicated matter in the lore. Nobody is sure you are even the same person when you hit Gen 1)

Please don't implement performance updates for console without a way to disable them just in case the update messes up playability (like what is currently going on). I suggest using a seperate menu (shoulder pet, tames, smithy etc) to avoid seeing your character in the menu.

Odd issue graphically I am having I wonder if anyone else has experienced. Going to explain better detail (have screenshot examples if helpful though)

So, I've noticed something odd about lighting and I'm not sure if its tied to a feature, if its a rendering bug, etc but the example I'll use is in a cave on Aberration. If I look across the cave at all the stuff that should be illuminated (charged plants, crystals in the walls etc) its pitch black. But if I stand there and stare in that direction for 15-20 seconds the lighting slowly fades in until it looks the way it should.

I'm also unclear that if this is related to having light pets nearby or a bug related to their lighting making you not see other lighting etc because I don't believe this issue started until I started using them but I could also be wrong there. Its driving me absolutely batty so if its just a feature/setting I'd love to turn it off xD

There’s been a ton of weird crashes since Ab dropped. I had a similar unknown function crash that was mod related, but for the most part all it seems like we can really do is try the usual troubleshooting stuff and cross our fingers or make a ticket and wait until we get another patch

Yeah we went over to Steam, were playing on gamepass before, because of the known issues on the gamepass version and my laptop having a nvidia gpu. Really hoped this was the solution for us, but also kinda scared for it to be a hardware related issue... the RX 6800 has been with us for quite a while and idk how sturdy these cards are. Hey I’m unable to craft anything except for notes. Restarted ark after my save corrupted and now I’m having this problem. I only started playing again after abb dropped. bob's steampunk ascent is very good even if you only use it's stuff and not SE I think so. eventually ext's wasteland war will come and you'll get that too.
also, they are usable on any map. don't think any of them require specific map resources

Bob's Tall Tales for scorched was just some nice cosmetics and non-game changing stuff. If you get BTT (which includes 2 and will get you 3, too) for Aberration it radically changes the game.

Lots of maps can use a web slinger. The Center's swamp and most caves was just built for blood stalkers by accident. Cosmo should work just as well there. And CI's floating islands, Gen 1 lunar and volcanic, Gen 2's valleys.

Basic noob breeding guide: You stack mutations on your MALE, breed with clean 0 mutation FEMALES.

Always switch out the male for a better male, never the females

It's not necessary to do that tbh. For some creatures like daedons you'll want food stat to be high, but 9/10 you'll be focusing on hp and damage, maybe stamina

No what he means is say your wild tamed female has 20hp, and your male has 28, you want to get a female with 28 before you start mutating

It's a 50/50 chance a baby inherits the best stats from it's parents and a 50/50 to be male or female so 1/4 babies will have 28 hp and be Female.
Once you have that female, no variation is possible all babies are the exact same level because both parents have identical stats

Which means if you find a baby 2 levels higher than the parents, that's mutated

No you breed the wild one's you got and do that until you have a male and female with the same stats

And then you can't get anything but the exact same stats on the Baby, there's no variation because both are identical

What's gonna happen it you don't do this is, the babies will all be different levels and have different stats so you'll never figure out which one's mutated unless you're a mastermind

No, you can breed unmutated into a baby.
The game has 3 categories in each stat

1:Wild Levels 2: Levels you put into the creature and 3: Mutations.

Mutations basically increase the base level of 1.
So say your creature has 30hp, you didn't level it and it's not mutated.

It's hp stat looks like this: 30/0/0

Now if you get a hp mutation this changes to 30/0/2

i have a 3060 xc and i have no issues.. unless i am doing alot of other side graphix stuff.. ie streams etc

i turned down the presets to medium and made global illumination low with motion blur turned off

in your pause menu under graphics and that is for the pc version

im not sure about the consoles.. think you might be able to manually input the code change but im not sure

If you are having flickering issues on Ab, try either of these commands

r.FidelityFX.FSR3.Enabled 1
r.shadowquality 0

Yes, you can, just don't cryopod them yet as it seems to be bugged due to them technically being flyers
