The major update has done something with the lumen and lighting on Scorched. It's like it's stuck on epic global illumination but I've kept all my stuff at medium. Game looked great and ran fine before the update but now I get bad frames and I tried everything on low and still same problem. It's like global illumination is on epic.

But that would also mean that there would be no spawns for everyone until Ragnarok (the map it was supposed to be on) since The Island is the only option given its spawn biome. I'm guessing, for now at least, that they'll keep it spawning on The Island since its not necessarily out of place there as opposed to Scorched where their spawn biome doesn't even exist. They may change it in the future (ie; once Ragnarok comes out) but I'm assuming spawns are going to stick to The Island and they may even put them on the Center as well. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We have 53 dinos outside plus train (1 dino) and the train cart (5 dinos) and 1 motorboat (1 dino)? Total 60, however tame limit is at 93, anybody know why? Playing on official modded, my guess is when they removed the Prehistoric beast mod the dinos got removed but they stayed on the tame limit?

On Scorched Earth, unoffical server, we had a water vein with a well placed on it. But it became depleted, and we had to find another vein. Where the vein was, is now just a dry stone circle.

Haven't done that. In the patch notes they changed something for lighting and then another note was about a fix for a ghosting affect. Seems whatever they did didn't fix anything. I never had the issues they put a fix for but now I do 🤷. Seems like it's on their end as others I've seen around reddit have had this issue as well.

I can confirm that setting my global illumination to low does absolutely nothing. I just logged back in and set it to low and can still see supply beacons. This was not possible before the update. If you have global illumination set to low you'd never be able to see the beams from supply drops in the sky. Have only ever been able to see them on Medium setting or higher. So yeah they messed something up. Game is forcing High/Epic Global Illumination quality.

Can anyone help, I've been having an issue with loading screen crashes on Xbox X. I cannot start single player or non-dedicated at all, the game tries to load any map there for a second then auto closes without errors or messages. Program is just gone from task manager instantly. I can join official PvE and play, but anything in "create game" menu will do nothing. Mods on or off does not seem to matter, always same thing.

I need everyone to check their global illumination setting in game when they can. If it's low set it to epic. If its epic set it to low. If it's medium set it to low. Basically try every setting and see if it actually does anything at all in game for you. Bet it doesn't. Me and a few others are having this issue but we have crappy 4060s or worse. I'm sure it looks great and not noticable on a 470 or better 🤷

But what is happening is the setting is useless now. Doesn't even work. Only works when manually keying it in via command such as r.GlobalilluminationMethod 0 or 1,2,3,4.

Problem is 2 is medium. And now when you put it on 2 via command. It looks like it's supposed to but disables supply drop beams. Only low setting is supposed to remove the beams.

We need more people aware of this. Game flickers too much and glows too much with higher global illumination on mid to lower PCs. Then maybe if more people are noticing this issue the devs will actually acknowledge it. This has occurred since the major patch btw.

You're in luck. I found a fix. (Wildcard hire me I'll be good I swear)

Open console command in game and type: r.DynamicGlobalilluminationMode 3

This will get it where it should be BUT pretty sure it disables supply beacon beams.

NEXT: Open main settings. Set Global illumination to High or Epic.

This brings back the beacons. Sucks you gotta jump through hoops but it is back to normal.

And another weird thing is, having to have it set to high or epic. Where as before you could set it to medium and it would be fine and you'd still see the beams but now medium removes the beams as well.

For everyone struggling with the graphic settings after the last two updates, Fog and LightBloom do not go to 0 even if its disabled in the graphic settings. There are 2 possible fixes:

1. after every game start use the following consol commands:
   r.VolumetricFog 0
   r.BloomQuality 0

2. Change the game files to have it always fixed
   -- Close the game
   -- Go to: ...\steamapps\common\ARK Survival Ascended\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\Windows
   -- Open ENGINE.INI
   -- Add the following at the bottom:

r.VolumetricFog=0
r.BloomQuality=0```

I'm having a strange problem in ASE where I can't load bait onto my fishing rod and it doesn't appear to be the standard newbie "load it while in your inventory, not on your hot bar" fix.

I built a base primitive fishing rod, gathered up some leech blood and while both are in my inventory, cannot drag the leech blood to the fishing pole to arm it. If it’s not visual, I doubt that’s the case. The server could be at max tame cap which supersedes individual tribe tame limits, though I believe there’s a soft cap now in the game that will advise cryo’ing dinos to get back under the max server limit

Yea mine has been like that for 4/5 days now - only on one specific unofficial server. My problem started before update. Have tried everything. Reinstalled game/created new character/deleted all files. Found one person on Reddit who said the admin resetting server would fix it - I am waiting for admin to have a look but don’t have much hope . If you’re on Xbox I also found one person who said the only way they could get it working was creating a new Xbox account . Suuuucks!

basically from the research I did last night for a couple hours it could be caused by a multitude of things, but it means its trying to access something that isn't there/doesn't exist from what I understand. Try updating your drivers if you have nvidia since an update dropped a couple days ago, restart your pc, and vferify game files, if that doesn't work im currently towards the end of reinstalling it to see if that fixes it. Will let everyone know if it does. if none of this fixes it I'm just gonna pray its on wildcards end since this type of error has happened before with biggish updates from them, and one dropped last night and two people have already had this error including me

your not. its ark freezing up the gpu longer than 1 single second. and windows being all butthurt and strick daddy mode forces the gpu driver and dx 12 to restart . which then causes ark to have a stroke... consider updating registry to allow gpu hang time to hit 60seconds before windows terminates

I'm hosting a server for a buddy and I to play Scorched Earth on. It is lightly modded with the following mods: MarniiMods Hairstyles, Better Breeding, Super Spyglass Plus, Cyrus' Critters: Jumping Spider, and Old West Props Pack. We are also running the Love Ascended event on the server. The issue we are having is that the server has updated and now neither one of us can connect to the server.(This has been going on since the 9th) I have redone all the port forwarding and even loaded up a fresh vanilla server of Scorched Earth with the issue still happening. The odd thing is that we can connect to other servers with the same version. Does anyone known a possible fix or have any suggestions? Or also experiencing the same issue?

we've been running into a fatal error and atleast for me it just crashes my game and when i try to load in

so atleast for me i had either a corrupted player or map data so i had to take the current profile data and move it to a seperate folder and then rename the left over ones basically the backups for currpution to what they were previously and it worked

i had to use a couple commands to get my structures and dinos back under my name since that did break but other than that i kept all my progress and stuff right until the point i crashed last

before you say "it only happens in ark", a user-space program cant just poleaxe your PC directly, but one as demanding as ark can overwhelm damaged hardware, or trigger issues in faulty drivers/other kernel software

Well, I guess that makes some sense. Well, first you'll need to talk to Wildcard to give you a version of the game that has debug symbols enabled/exported.

Assuming you have that, the next thing I'd recommend you do is learn everything about how Windows manages program memory.

Once you have that down, it would be a good idea to learn a little bit about how your CPU (in the x86-64 assembly) calls functions and processes the call arguments via the stack. Add a pinch on how to calculate pointers in memory.

Once you have that, you should have the basic knowledge to read the debug output. Somewhat.

This is why I asked if you had two years.

Alternatively - learn to program in C++ on Windows. One of the steps will be learning to use the debugger. By the time you're there and comfortable with it, you'll also understand why the question was kinda pointless. :D
