Yes pretty sure the game just checks a certain height up for obstructions for greenhouse effect. Only worked on large height caves enclosed areas like easy or some of the surface entrances on ab etc…

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew a way to fix or at least help a little bit with a problem I'm having when loading into ark survival ascended official servers.

Every time I load into an ASA official server (doesn't matter which one, I've tried multiple), I am met with the "Lost connection to host" after waiting for a while to get into the server. This usually happens 3-6 times before I can actually join the server and start playing. When I do play, my game runs between 30 - 60 fps which I consider pretty solid, so I doubt the performance is the problem here.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this, please let me know because it can be really annoying having to wait up to an hour just to join a server.

You’ll probably get about 5 years or more out of that CPU. I’m running a 5800X3D with a 3060Ti and my CPU is not doing much at all. The graphics card is flat out.

The vast majority of video games are heavily GPU reliant. You only really need a very powerful CPU if you're either trying to maintain esports levels of framerates (200 or so), or you're playing a specifically CPU heavy game like the Total War franchise.

Dragon is still invisible 7/10 times making players lose all the tames and gear, brood crashes the server 9/10 times and the Overseer doesn't even spawn in half of the times. Can you not implement some kind of a safeguard at least, for when the server crashes or the boss doesn't spawn properly so players don't lose their stuff. Like for the dragon and the Overseer, an option to restart the arena or leave the arena, for the brood maybe a rollback to before we go into the arena... Or something along those lines

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Generally you wanna just note down the server number so you can find it again. They already patched the favourites thing once and it seems to have gone dodgy again.

There's pretty much 4 levels of tech generally speaking. You go from crafting in your inventory, to crafting at basic workbenches, to crafting at powered workbenches, to crafting with Tek stuff. It's not super deep

Anywhere near the inlet opposite carnivore island is a relatively good spot. You have to contend with rexes and such but you have close access to metal, obsidian, crystal, pearls, penguins aren't too far when you need to do a murder spree for early polymers, and you can run around carnivore island murdering things with your dinosaurs to level up

I generally like to just be near the edge of the cold biome, somewhere in that cluster of 3 mountains

My favorite part of Ark is having to log in. I get to enjoy a black screen time out, then a return to loading screen, then try to enter again return to title screen, then on the third try I get it. Its a real blast. Love it almost as i love the nerfed drop rates on offical servers.

I start by building a warehouse to store all my hoards, then I build a massive wall around a large area, then I build a house, a greenhouse, and if I'm near the sea, some docks. Then I build defensive emplacements on top of the walls (my walls are always thick enough to walk along the top of with stairs leading up to them). Then I'll add things like animals pens to put Ovis and such in for the aesthetic, a marina for animals and a marina for my boats if I'm by the water.

As for individual building design... that comes down to personal preference. There are plenty of youtube videos and screenshots for ideas.

If you get crashes every 45 mins or so, it could be because you have nvidia settings turned on. Dlss and frame gen break the game its dumb

The PC version is "better", but the console version almost never actually crashes, which is why I play it on Xbox. My Xbox copy has crashed once, ever, whilst my PC one crashes maybe 3 times a day

well that sucks, you will have to make a new char and use cheat commands to get back your stuff, google how or watch youtube , there are many steps involved

now that you know where the save files are, make a copy every few days an in future you wont lose everything, just have to roll back a day or two the nearest backup you made

I literally fixed that problem a couple hours ago. In my experience there's too many lights. I took down a bunch of Omni Lamps and it went away. Now I use wall lamps from the Randi's Emporium mod and the problem is gone

what should I be thinking about going into an at-least-beta broodmother fight? Singleplayer, SP settings enabled because I'm playing for the lore first, not much has been altered from the "Easy" preset save for max wild dino level, which is set to 155.

With single player settings on you could easily get rexes that have 80,000 health and 1000 melee. If you make any effort in breeding you'll be fine.

If you're willing to breed a few separate creatures, you can do megatherium for broodmother. It depends on how much time you're willing to dedicate.

You won't need mutations with single player settings.

Okay, my issue started yesterday, I play on a unofficial server with quite a few mods. I grabbed my Celeste giga with upgraded saddle and went out in the map to go kill and tame. As I was running some fair way from my base, I was kicked to my Xbox home screen, I loaded game up again and was once more kicked to home screen. I tried about 7x. I then noticed it was saying mods were not checked, went to mods and some needed upgrading, did all that, still same issue, uninstalled and reinstalled mods and still happened, game kept kicking me a mini second before map loaded in. I restarted Xbox, still no go and the mods I had updated said they still needed updating. So I uninstalled game, reinstalled, updated mods and yea, still couldn't get into server. Just tried this morning after updating QoL mod for like 5th x since yesterday and I still cannot get ingame. Yet other server same people run, works fine tho does have some different mods.

Sometimes it may be that the server does not have the mod updates yet. This can then lead to problems like this. But it could also be due to something else. Sometimes a mod suddenly causes problems because there is a mistake in it or the mod doesn't get along with another mod

Have you ever tried uninstalling the mod that is causing problems and then installing it directly via server joining? Or if you are not sure which mod, then uninstall them all and install them via server join. yes, it takes a long time, but sometimes it works.

And with Xbox you should do a console restart from time to time

hello, I could use some help getting my ark asa dedicated server up and running properly. Does anyone have a chance to work with me a little bit and help me out? I have a desktop with a 9th Gen 10 core i9 with 128 gig ram and 4tb ssd where the ark server folder is installed from using the steamcmd process to install arkascendedserver.exe files. So i can start up a server - but I need to understand how to set up this server with mods and then wether i should use 'beacon' to manage it or not. I will be playing the game on a new laptop I have while running the server off the desktop. This is as far as I have gotten and now I am confused

Having looked at my explorer notes page, I can see some oddities...

1. Raptor note has a blue circle in the top right with a tick in it, but it has a padlock on it (i've been back to this note and I definitely have it unlocked...)

3. some don't have a blue circle at all, but aren't locked.

Blue circle means tameable but you haven't tamed it yet. No circle is not tameable. Tick means tamed. If the padlock in on the raptor one then the game thinks you haven't unlocked it yet

How much ram?
If you don’t crash and burn right away it will run very very poorly, and you might have to use -dx11 as a launch parameter to bypass character creation (otherwise it crashes). If that’s needed I suggest you relaunch your game and remove it right afterwards as it impacts performance negatively.
Use ingame console commands, search them here as there are lots, definitely use r.volumetricclouds 0 and r.volumetricfog 0

You want at least 12GB VRAM for ASA. You can easily hit 10GB even on 1080p if you're playing at high/epic settings. 8GB VRAM just isn't enough on a modern GPU. Take a look around YouTube, there are a lot of hardware reviewers commenting the same thing.

It's part of why the lower end of the Nvidia 4000 series has been slammed by a lot of reviewers

But yeah, I know from experience ASA hits 13GB VRAM usage at 1440p on higher settings so.... even 12GB models aren't safe if you want a higher resolution. My brother has a 6600XT and he loses fps due to VRAM in ASA pretty hard at 1440p, has to drop it to 1080p. I still can't play it on my PC because of the water issue with pre-RDNA AMD models. The only fix was turning the water off entirely and they removed that option now, for good reason I will admit. I'm not holding my breath for that problem to be something that gets resolved though lol.

But if anyone figures that out, let me know 😄

A 3050 would probably struggle hard with most games at 1440p though. Definitely need an upgrade for Ark, but I can't think of many modern non-indie games that would run well at 1440p on a 3050

Going off topic a bit, but CP has had a lot of performance updates but visually it's pretty much the same as it was at launch, and I did play on launch day. It's had some minor improvements but nothing massive. Just some lighting updates for the most part. Unreal 5, and thus Ark, has stuff like Lumen as part of the engine, which allow devs to do some cool stuff but it adds a lot more demand from hardware.

Plus Ark just isn't optimized very well 😄
