ah okay. There's multiple entrances to that one (2 or 3 i think) so if you drop sleeping bags at the entrances, kite them to one entrance you could sleeping bag hop to the other side (have your dino out and waiting) and run in quickly and grab eggs and bolt

Seriously though @viral shore why when server rolls back let's say 30 mins does it completely delete anything downloaded within that time frame? Just lost 4 baby spinos. Not in the fridge and not in pods so not only have the eggs now gone but I have no tames to show for it!? I'd start by looking up how to get Ark Smart Breeding. You can "Export" dinos in-game and see their levels and stats in that program. That will make your life easy.
As for how to breed, you need to learn what stats are important in dinos.
For example, you get a male rex with 40 levels (points) in melee damage.
You breed it with a bunch of low level females until you start having babies that have 40 levels (points) in melee damage. If you're lucky they'll also have the lower levels in food and oxygen.
Hope that makes sense.
Mutations are random ... they always come with a color. The color is not always in a visible region. You've got to write down or otherwise record stats to see what is higher in the mutated baby. Again, ark smart breeding can help with the recording.

go for maxish tamed dinos, can go like 12-16 levels below max and still find good stats, focus HP/Melee for anything combat related really, once you've nailed down your stats, breed them onto a pair of male and female Perfect Parents that will start your mutation army. I suggest STRONGLY, that you also find the LOWEST level dino of that species you can find and breed them with the Perfect until you get some that have the stats you want and none of the stats you dont, Oxygen/Food/Speed, this will bring your dino level lower so you can mutate to higher levels without having to worry about server caps
like if you can get a level 6 rex or lower, tame it, save it for later and then use it to lower the crap stats you dont need

theyre not bad as a carnivore for general use and you can put them on turret mode to roar automatically. and pretty much vital for bossfights
theyre actually pretty fast so theyre pretty nice for small meatruns if you dont have much else.

i highly recommend keeping some med brews, they heal something like 30 hp and cost some titnoberries and 2 narcotics or so.

pump only melee on them, not only does it boost the bite when on your shoulder but also increases how much insulation you get.
