I found the drakeling a menace as I could see what loot a lootcrate contains with a mod and when it had something I really wanted/something rare it would 'upgrade' it to random trash. Astraeos for maeguana which is the fastest and best mobility mount, Pyromane is probably the best dino to do caves with. Skip the Dreadmare as it's a useless piece of junk. All DLC are discounted now so now's the time to get some. Lost Colony isn't a map for people starting to play so you could wait with that, but has some nice creatures on it.

With Tek Binos - hit it down to half, hop off as it initiates any animation.

Fake roar heals but doesn't let you apply torpor - plenty of time to remount - wait a couple of seconds and apply damage again.

Without tek binos it becomes a counting game with your source of damage.

X shots/bites until stance change
Y shots/bites until roar/fake roar.

If it falls into rage, unrender before doing anything else.

Then try healing it up with wild corpses.

what are you having trouble with? i found it not that hard with a good tame that lets you shoot from the back and a good shotgun.

shoot and feed from the side. when possible. happy to try talk and help if needed

Acros take a little patience and practice. Need a clear area with no other dinos around. Have several shotguns qued up on your hot bar and medbrew, etc as well. Shoot from range and pace it to where when they roar you run up and feed. Run back away, reload or switch weapons. Keep in mind at around half topor they will randomly heal themselves up. Its a good time to reload and plan to shoot rapidly to make them roar right after. Once you get the swing of it, you'll see its not to bad, just takes a little feel out time.

I highly recommend taming a high level araneo early game. they are knock out now, saddle at lvl44, and i knocked out a 150 rex with 15000 torpor in under 3 minutes with a level 145 araneo leveled only into stamina

no chance. WC started to add and remove core parts of the event with the event patches a while ago. So private servers can only run the events properly when they also run on official. And it is pure luck if the file switches are properly made - sometimes WC forgets to remove or add things with the event patches, creating black holes on private servers if files are missing 🤷‍♀️
