If you put some berries or meat or whatever in there with it, it will still prefer to eat the kibble while taming, but it will default to eating the regular food once tame

No, you drag corpses to it

Depends. By yourself it can be hard. You will definitely want a nearby bed or respawn in case you die. You will need to kill things, the larger the better, but also have enough carry weight to drag it over to the creature

You need to personally drag the body

The larger the corpse (the more it weighs) the more "trust" you get. The trust then disipates quickly between feeds. So bigger the better. And you need to be actually still holding it with drag when it comes over to eat (from what I remember)

Apparently Yutys are the best choice to offer. If you play on PVP, you can raise yutys and unclaim them then kill them and offer them to the Carchara

If you play on a PVE server, then I would suggest mods like the dino kill potion or slaughter anything mod. Then you can kill your own dinos you raise and offer them.

Depends on the level. But the nice thing is that one yuty will completely fill the bar. Once the bar is filled, you climb on its back and play a sorta minigame. You can get a max of about 20% in one go at default taming rates

So the flow is
Fill the bar -> Ride the carchara and kill as much as you can -> get kicked off and fill the bar again

Fortunately their bite has a good knockback kinda like a rex. So pick prey you know you can keep at bay with its attacks

When it is not harvesting, its usually because your PC and the server are having an argument over where the anky and you actually are. Try putting the anky down and picking it back up. At some point you sorta lear the "sweet spot" of where the discrepancy in positioning is.

The crafting skill is not working — even after increasing 150 levels or 1600 crafting skill points, there is no improvement.

A dodo egg gives 5 points of health and food, and with 1600 crafting skill points it should give 98.75. However, the crafting skill doesn’t have any effect, even though the recipe says that 16.1% crafting skill was applied. I can’t send images here, but if someone could check this, I’d really appreciate it.

Try using 10 dodo eggs, 10 raw meat, 10 stimberries. That’s the one I use.

If you have 15.0 crafting skill, that recipe should give you 1142 food, 1064 health, and 1082 stamina — and with chili, it should give you 1219 food, 1136 health, and 1155 stamina. But since the egg isn’t working in the recipe, I guess it only gives you 331 food, 247 health, and 266 stamina.

Could you try replicating it? If you already have it crafted, maybe try crafting it again?

Try removing the egg, and you’ll see it’s almost the same — it’s as if the crafting skill has no effect when using eggs in the recipes.

Yes, eggs in custom recipes don't work any longer. Took us a while to find out why some custom recipes worked and some didn't.
Not sure if it is a bug, or an intended change.

Could be a multitude of things.. but the most common is graphics, can take some time to figure out what works out best for you settings wise. Check a few guides/posts/vids for settings, 3 or 4 console commands can make a big difference to do with fog, cloud and ground clutter and then of course the actual graphics settings themselves. Will probably have to play around a bit see what works best and is more stable for you.

You mean Ragnarok? There are lots of places good for metal. Just about every biome has small caves with tons of it. You can also find a lot in the mountains of the redwoods and desert area. Tons in the volcanic area as well. Just watch for golems in the volcanic and desert mountains.

Probably the carchara. But that also depends on the saddles you have and how much damage they can do and how quickly. Consider a carchara basically a giga power wise. And just like a giga, they can do serious bleed damage.

If you think your rexes can take an equally powered giga, they can probably take the carchara.

So I went through mods briefly last night and I found a bunch of cosmetics for armor, player, Dino’s, and structures. I also found a bunch of Dino mods that add new Dino’s but I also got discovery world which added all dinosaurs into one map which is goated. I added some qol mods but forgot the names. I’m mostly looking to make the game have more variety with Dino’s, cosmetics of course, anything that’ll make the game more fun but not easier. I would send a photo here to ask which ones are good and keep or remove but I cannot sadly. I also would love any mods for new weapons, maybe structures, and anything to add to base game but again nothing to make it easier per se.

Sounds like a server crash. Also, when a server restarts, stops, or starts, it takes a few minutes to show on the server browser.

For instance, after a restart, it will usually show the server online for a little bit but you cant connect. Then it will disappear for a bit, then show up and you can actually connect

not really. If you look at the tame time the difference really isnt that much. Its a difference of 6 minutes (single player) between kibble and mutton. Even though it takes twice as much mutton, it will eat that mutton far faster because mutton doesnt have as high a food rating as the appropriate kibble.

No. single player will take you about 200 narcotics. 406 is basically 4x as fast as normal torpor drain

To give you an idea it takes about 4 minutes for its torpor to completely drain. Also, when you add torpor via a narcotic, it stops the torpor drain while torpor is slowly added

Basically, just watch the bar, give a couple narcotics at a time, and feel it out.

Sadly, that's such a basic question that there is no help... is this the first time logging in to the server you're looking for?

Did you try filtering down the results even with using the Search function on the right side?

Sometimes you need to filter by map using the tabs at the top, selecting the box that says "Show only password protected servers" too.

There wasn't much we could do on our end and reinstalling the game or deleting old config files did nothing to fix it. But once we simply renamed the server, it was showing up with no issues.

I need help ! I play on the center asa and I uploaded a pteranodon to a supply crate. I went to the other side of the map and downloaded the same pteranodon and for some reason it's stats reset ? while keeping his level. Something even worse happened I put a cryopod in a supply crate inventory and when I tried to get it out it's charge completely when out and the dino inside died. I've searched everything but no one talks about this ! PLEASE help I wanna change map but I really dont understand why it does that

Not sure about charged dino dying, however I do know the old trick sometimes works where you put it in a fridge and turn power on and it comes back to life may work, however that also could be broke, try uploading the pod again and downloading from a ob, as for dino it is a glitch we get from time to time and we just re upload and download and sometimes that fixes it, also sometimes those broken dinos dont take damage for a while either so hopefully they fix it.

So for my PT I should just try to reupload download it ? and for my cryo pod let me just reiterate when taken out of the supply crate, its charge went down to zero and dino inside is unaccessible. I'll try right now to charge it but if it doesnt work I'll need to use only the creature tab to transfer dinos ?

BTW there is a chance that the PT was an unclaimed dino, is it related to its stat loss ?

yes I would use creature upload tab whenever given the option, cant help charge dropping they messed that up, if it lost its imprint then yes stats would drop possibly

Lost colony will have a map, it’s just not released yet, however it does give you access to 2 dlc dinos that are available now, and a cool skins, and a player skill tree, and probably one of my favorite engrams the tek bunker, basically lets you build a base under ground

I remember building a small base near the Red “obi” and I remember fog would permeate into the walls lol. I’m on a public server just a bit more in the hills now and the weather effects seem cool. Not as foggy.

right now there is a bright circle that appears right in the center of your screen unless you disable fog completely with r.fog = 0. There are some biomes its not very noticable in, but others, such as the redwoods and a few of the caves, that it is impossible to play its so bad.

Hey everyone, I’m running into an issue with the template build menu in ARK: Survival Ascended on console.
When I press Square and go to the third option (where it lets you choose between Build Target and Auto Build), I try to switch to Auto Build so I can view the material list — like what I need or what I’ve already placed.
But as soon as I switch to Auto Build, it automatically bumps me back to the first option (the creative mode), not letting me stay on the third option (build mode) to view the list.
Is this a bug, or is there a trick to locking that view in place? Any help would be appreciated!

sooo aparently the update broke the use of some vacuum cubes. Now, any cubes that have part of the ground inside , will no longer open/unlock nor are they able to be destroyed. I tested this with placing new vac cubes.

I'd say tame a parasaur, make a base, make narcotics, tame dinos that deal more damage like a carno, rex, etc. Try out dinos like bison, wyvern etc. Once you've go strong rex army collect artifactos for boss and beat the boss. It all depends of you play style, the best thing is to just start and enjoy the game 🙂

You need se flight ASAP, usually a ptera since they are easier to knock and can tame with prime meat from small dinos you can kill with a pike or mutton from sheep. Then use that to trap an argy to tame argy. Once you have flight, taming other things is easier, the argy can pick up many smaller dinos to drop into pre-made traps, like a doed for stone or anky for metal. Ankys alternate attack can get you your first berries for narcs, then after that, a beaver gets wood thatch and berries. A mammoth gets more thatch and tooonnnns more berries than a parasuar, but if a parasaur is easier to tame, can start with that. Get better dinos as you move up, all the while using said dinos to gather your resources for you. Once you get a rex, meat is a lot easier. If you're on ragnarok, go for a griffin as soon as you have a flyer that you can use to bait the griff to a trap. After that, steal a wyv egg as soon as you can and you'll have more possibilities ipen up for carrying dinos, fighting. Raise the rex army and go for boss like the other person suggested. Its all in how you play. You'll learn which dinos you like best after you try them out.

Anyone know why ark patches un goldly slow? it downloads fine but then patching files takes forever, been an hour and only 50%

its on an m.2 drive

not all nvme drives are the same, also depends on internet speed and cpu you have

It's slow as molasses on my SSD's as well unfortunately, and they're all fast ones like yours, one being a Gen 5.

I did have Oblivion Remastered do something similar recently, I think it might be a UE5 thing since it has a giant archive file that it has to patch.

if its not nearly full idk then, im 9800x3d with 990 pro samsung ssd and 1.3gb down and my patches etc never really take long, depending on what u mean by long

I've had a minor patch that was tiny take over 2 hours before.

drive has 325 gigs free, its a 1 gig drive

Well, its only ark, I can install say Star citizen in no time and its 241 gigs

steam patches the entire game, that patch speed is whats slow. star citizen not only isn't 241GB. but its not through steam and its methods are different.

I just deleted it the other day, it was taking up roughly that 🤷

my other m.2 drive died so had to install ark on this one 😂

star citizen for me is only 114GB so something was wrong on your end (maybe it downloaded twice or something 🤷)

consoles don't have to worry about that so only steam would be complaining about the patching speed.

PC xbox is a bit iffy. they don't got to worry about the patching speed but sometimes it just decides to redownload the entire game 😂

My pc is very good gaming pc, game ran just fine before today's update, things would load up normally, great fps, fast loading, now it loads half of a small base, freezes and crashes. Have to try this several times before it will finally load the game after waiting about 4 minutes. Not sure what changed in the patch. So weird.

yea all i can think of really outside of maybe backgrond task like windows running scans or maybe internet being unstable is not enough drive space cause when i switched to a 2tb drive i did notice it doesnt do the full game patching as much when we get updates but maybe its just doing it when im not looking idk

there are many reasons why more space makes them faster as well as the drive could just be faster in general.
