If it's over LAN and you know the IP address of the host pc. The person that wants to join can open their command line in the main menu and type "open [serverip]:[port]" I think, at least that works for self hosted servers

Yes, you can change the character models and make them more realistic, like in the explorer notes — it just takes custom meshes, textures, and animations, all supported in the ARK DevKit.
You can either:

• Edit existing models (easier), or
• Import new ones (harder, needs Blender/Maya + proper rigging)
  With enough work, you can make Helena, Mei-Yin, Diana, etc., look exactly like their explorer note versions.

ASA has a framework for making entirely new games within ark, basically lets you remove/modify any of the existing gameplay mechanics/elements. if you have no gamedev experience, you are looking at a lot more than a couple years

Hello, I am trying to join my server that is on the map extinction, but when I try to find it I cant set my filter to extinction, ark tells me I need to install it even though I already installed it. I have relaunched the game multiple times and restarded my console but it doesn't fix it. Even when I try to launch a solo game It doesn't let me select the extinction map and tells me I still need to get it even though I already have it installed, is there a way to fix this?

Literally, Wildcard seems to like to mock ASA customers and players, launching the game with a ridiculous FPS drop bug where they spent months, almost a whole year promising a super optimization in the game, I have a bug where I enter with the graphics as low as possible in performance only, and just a few steps and the FPS drops to 10 and a lag and crash that makes it impossible to play, honestly if I could refund this game now I would.

I run a Nitrado cluster and have 17 mods. All mods are working and my cluster is up. I had to update each mod manually one at a time. The invalid went away. I have restarted the game multiple times and they seem to be holding.
If you transfer maps it will DC you. When you load in it will make you install all mods again but you can load into your destination map. If you log out and back in it will load up normal again.

One of my buddies a week ago used left over parts and built our whole friend group a computer to host our palworld and ark servers . We had just started astreous on there and it was actually fun . I have been able to get in and the game be stable I been in for 3 hours now on PS5. All I did was uninstall all mods join your preferred server. Let the game install them all. Took me about 45 min to download 23 mods and I have 1 GIG fiber internet. After that close app and rejoin server if it says anything other than verifying mods close app and try again. I get in after my 2nd try

I just run ASM-Ascended on google cloud and turn it on when I need it. Depending on how much you play it works out to about the same.

For those on PC struggling with FPS drops a short time after logging in, try disabling lumen with this command: r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 0 After constant FPS issues yesterday I disabled lumen and played for several hours without any issues at all.

So I’ve noticed with 5.5 messing with settings causes me dropped fps and can’t fix it without restarting. It’s not a time thing it’s just a random thing that happens after changing a graphic setting. Like I was fine and then lowered shadows from high to medium and bam broke. If I start the game with my settings how I like them I can play forever and have no issues.

I wonder if changing settings has a chance to brick the game

Like after doing that and only getting 1-5 fps even going to performance mode didn’t change anything still had 1-5 fps.

Sitting at 100% isn’t a bad thing for the gpu, it’s bad if it’s constantly going up and down. Everyone’s gpu will be sitting on 98-100 when they max their games out. If you couldn’t get to 100% then your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu. Now if temps are high then that’s an issue.

Only time it’ll be bad to be 100% if you have more than one monitor and want to watch stuff because hitting 100% and then trying to do that will cause issues.

The flicker is caused by dlss or fsr being not on quality and the global setting not being on epic. Try to put them on and it should remove most flickering. It’s actually really stupid since a lot of pcs can’t do it.

It might. I don't have that issue. It disables lumen which is the newer lighting system in unreal 5. It is very heavy CPU wise and it seems like their upgrade to 5.5 wasn't done very well. I could run it before reasonably well but it was unplayable after this update. Turning it off makes the game run great

Since the UE5.5 update crystal hitbox has become very small. Unable to harvest with pick as easily. Now have to crouch, walk into crystal and hit a small area at the base where it meets the ground. Crystals are no longer solid objects & you can walk through them.

They just need to render in. Wait there for a bit, go in and out of render, or try walking "through" the terminal a few times. Sometimes you can still access them even though they're not fully rendered. The terminals in the desert biome and wasteland seem to render faster, and the titan terminals seem to always be loaded if you can make it to them.

Sometimes you can rerender it to load but if not luck and you’re not early game you can go to the desert cave and use that terminal. Or fly around till you find one, think the ones in the wasteland still works but don’t quote me.

I'm playing with the performance preset right now on my 3080 since it's the only way to have consistent high frames (144 that is) - Kinda crazy I have to play on such low settings with a 3k setup from 3 years ago but I guess it is what it is

I could play on medium with around 70-80 but for some reason ASA manages to make any framerate feel like half of what you actually get

And to be fair though, you get used to the bad graphics quite quickly after a few hours 😅

And on the bright side, I can easily spot small critters since there is zero grass

Thats the upscaling.
and the reason it doesn't feel as good as it should is because you arent playing on solid frames at 144. its stuttering.
with 3080, ive found you can get semi stable frames around 120, but certain areas do still tend to drop it anywhere from 85-120.
try the advice i gave above, go to max frame limit 30-45 with ai upscaling you'll be hitting a solid 60-90, after you get there, can turn up the other graphics till the game just plain looks good. [this of course depends on whether you are playing pvp or not]

i personally prefer 60, on medium-high settings.

The foliage distance and the other two really tank performance. I think that’s why some people are struggling. They set it to high expecting to run it and it’s not that great and they lower the normal graphic settings but doesn’t help much.

Those foliage settings screw me over, at 1 I can handle it with my graphics.

I’m happy in the middle ground, got amazing graphics and constant 60fps with dlss quality. On extinction and flying super fast lows was 50 but honestly how often do you fly that fast anyways lol.

I’m running medium preset for right side with footsteps turned off and bloom as I find that annoying. Changed view/textures/global to epic, foliage on high and the rest on medium and sit good at 60.

Before 5.5 I had texture and view on epic, foliage on high and the rest on low and that would only let me get constant 40fps. Tho got use to it after couple hours.

its actually quite interesting, I remember when evolved came out it was the performance suck of that time, then as hardware evolved [haha pun] the 30 series and stuff was finally able to play it on high/ultra settings to its full potential, and it started to age.

now that this is out we are basically starting all over again with our new hardware being the lowest tier of what can run this. Im excited to see in 5-10 years how thisll all look

I believe it’ll die after aquatica dlc releases. Unless snail figures out a way to update the game without breaking mods almost every server will break when those mods break. Most if not all mod authors aren’t going to redownload the dev kit to fix it.

People aren’t really considering what this update will do to ASE and most people will stop after all their mods no longer work.

Most if not all servers play with mods and this dlc will break every single one and most of those mods won’t ever get fixed. The only solution for wildcard was to wait to release it till Monday so they have a full week to play. But it works for a lot of people so let it out for a weekend everyone discovers all the bugs and when they get back into the office they get straight into figuring out the bugs.

I’m on 3080 and I was able to up my graphics and gained 20 more stable fps. I was capped at 40 and now 60 and this is testing in the city of extinction.

Wildcard can’t go independent, snail doesn’t just own ark ip they own wildcard the studio. All wildcard can do is leave the team and start a new studio and make a completely new game.

But just like when they got their law suit was caused them to be bought by snail. When developers quit their job they’re by contract forced by law not allowed to develop any games for 1-2 years.

There isn’t any contract anymore. They were bought by snail because wildcard in 2015 couldn’t pay off their lawsuit.

When devs quit they’re forced into a contract to not make video games, it’s to prevent devs from stealing ideas and code from their old employer. Wildcard broke this contract in 2015 since most of their team were people from previous known studios.
