Yeah, that's why I just used tranq darts on the sabertooth. Wouldn't want to risk killing it. When it comes to most dinos though I assume they can just tank arrows without any risk of dying. Anything smaller and presumably frail I switch to tranq darts

when you reload on the longneck, it already starts to drop torpor before you can hit it again.
with crossbow you can keep firing, the reload and time the arrow increases torpor over time, means it will not drop torpor

they are too expensive to make metal wise and gunpowder wise

i would say, yeah it might make taming without a trap properly possible, but not sure if it is ever worth the cost to be honest, especially if you compare it to a great crossbow

yeah, yuti's have bad health in the wild, so don't shoot too fast, might kill them otherwise

just look at the left side of the screen, you get the reload -1 tranq arrow icon showing up, when that is gone, shoot again

Now all that's left is figuring out whether I should try to get kibble or just hunt ovis for their mutton. With my world's settings it takes the same amount for both types I think. Someone suggested mating ovis but I don't know if I should do that before or after I tame the yuti because taming ovis is a whole other process that involves stepping foot into redwoods for the very first time

If I were to guess, one ovis gives way more than enough mutton

if you are on the island, ovi's also spawn in the snow

and yes, with boosted settings for taming, mutton is just as good as kibble, but herbivores want some kibble

and yuti eggs are great to make that top level kibble

If i breed and get a double or triple mutation, will the matrilineal and/or patrilineal counter go up 2 or 3 points respectively?
Or will it only go up by 1 point counting the double or triple mutation and a 'single mutation instance'?

it goes up by the amount of mutations, so 1 mutation 1 counter, 2 mutations 2 counters, etc

thank you, i thought this was the case but someone on my server has 118 stats in melee but only 1/20 and 32/20

meaning 33 mutations so only 66 possible stat points.
they said the double mutation counted for only 1 mat/pat point, but it didnt sound right?

to clarify when i say double mutation i mean getting lucky and getting 4 stat points from one breed. (would this make the counter increase by 1 or 2)

the 8350. it is hilariously slow. like 1/5th the speed of any modern desktop part, and it is not a real 8-core part. functionally a quad-core in most situations

i cant say without seeing the actual error (which definitely does not say exactly what you are remembering), but i can promise that is not the issue. the engine keeps exact track of what is streamed at any given time. if it was not, it would leak memory like crazy and crash within minutes on any hardware.

you dont have it already? if you have a PCIe4 capable board and CPU, a 4060 is situationally better. it has some weirdly imbalanced hardware and can perform much worse in some titles, but should be slightly better in ASA

turning down settings will reduce the compute load and power use of your GPU, which understandably makes it less likely to crash due to damage/instability in the card, or other hardware issues like bad voltage stability. ASA is just an unusually demanding game, a lot of people see similar issues with it that they dont see in other games, due to not playing anything else nearly as heavy. same issues will manifest under any similar stress load

now, you can get issues with missing data, but that will be on the software/CPU side, and you will get errors like INVALID_ACCESS_EXCEPTION (the program tried to reach for memory that does not exist/is not part of the program's memory space). i have never seen that happen as a result of streamed textures, tends to be bugs in specific code with nothing to do with hardware

if the game does completely run out of memory, it just crashes on the spot. stuff wont magically vanish. if GPU memory runs out, it just starts using your RAM as backup, and shuffles stuff back and forth between the RAM and VRAM (which is really laggy). if RAM runs out, the OS uses your drive as backup, which is even laggier.
the only times i have ever seen ASA throw an out of memory exception was when people had a broken CPU that was corrupting data and trying to allocate millions of terabytes of RAM for the game

in that case the game's error will tell you the exact amount of memory it is trying to allocate

ive had 3 types of errors and the only thing that fixed all 3 was removing mods because someone on my server uses one that makes ppl crash thanks to them adding in that dynamic cosmetic download bs that forces everyones mod onto you unless u personally turn it off, and also dropping settings so that the vram isnt capped otherwise its crash on fast movement 🤷‍♂️

moving fast with full VRAM means that stuff is being shuffled between the RAM and VRAM really aggressively, which puts a huge strain on the actual hardware

Drag weight has nothing to do with spawns. Drag weight is how creatures that can be picked up or taken into boss fights is determined.

They can't break stone, so you should probably build it out of that.

If you're meaning the menu slider, it'll always be 1. As long as your override in your ini is set, you're fine. You will need to do a dino wipe to get them to show correct numbers ingame.

Yes, as long as you don't change it. It will take some time for dinos to respawn, you can fly around the map to help a bit, or use a mod/launch argument to add preventhibernation to stop the map that isn't rendered in from going into stasis.

You have to close the game, open the configs (gameusersettings.ini), and add it. Save it, wait a few minutes, start the game, and see if it fixes. If you have the offset changed in game.ini, it needs to be 1.

I managed to tame a Yuti. Lvl 150 and conveniently it's a female. I took the advice on waiting 5 or so seconds in between shots and while it did take longer, it is more efficient

Theres a bug with skins replcating themselves and also taking up inventory slots, even though they shouldnt. So, each tiem you die, or server transfer you get ALL your armor skins again. THere are 44 if you have Bobs. it was making inventories so full you couldnt get your stuff back if you dies and since you cant see them, you cldnt do anything. I play on an Omega server and we have the omni tool which allowed us to move things out, but if the inventory was full and we didnt have the tool on us, we were sol
