Steam is pretty good, something I do suggest you do as well (just in case you haven't already heard of this) is to go into settings > UI and turn "Disable Menu Transitions" to be on.

Radeon - downgrading graphics didn't help, I had so my GPU fans were barely even spinning up and it was still crashing for no known reason. Don't think it was a graphic overloading issue at all.

graphics dont "overload" unless a GPU is broken/unstable, most of the scary-looking GPU crash errors from ark are just directX 12 tripping over stuff

dx12 and vulkan make it a lot easier for programs to crash the GPU by doing dumb stuff

fun trivia: the AMD drivers have always done a lot more validation and are way more sensitive to memory corruption than Nvidia, which translates to people with unstable/broken RAM (roughly half of poorly built/tested gaming PCs, in my experience) assuming Nvidia cards are stabler.

On the island, where is the best way to get good loot? Would it be the loot crate drops or cave loot? If it's cave loot what's a good cave to farm the loot?

cave drops are usually higher quality. But it the drops are Official drops then you rarely get good things. Cave next to the Volcano usually has a couple. But probably best to just fly around to surface drops for a bit.

I’m having a lot of issues getting into baby dinos inventory to feed them. The amount of them I have lost because of this is absurd. Anyone else having this issue or know a way to help? singleplayer can transfer between maps, it is an intended part of the gameplay. you can install and run your own server on the same pc, as well. tends to be less buggy and can raise performance (splits up CPU work between two programs), but uses a bit more memory

Yes there's a benefit.

You get a bonus chance to mutate when under 20 mutes. So working on one stat at a time is faster then multiple.

as much as I hate saying it, "save up for PC upgrade" is the best I can offer. ASA is an extremely demanding game - the 3060 Ti I was on before couldn't do anything above Medium before frames started tanking/VRAM was running out

1080 is the specific minimum example mentioned on steam. a 6700k is going to absolutely cripple the game in singleplayer, though. bit less online. easy to check if it is, look at your GPU clockspeed and load level while playing, are both near max?

the minimum intel CPU is confusingly a 6800K, which is not even the same platform; it is a 6-core skylake-X HEDT part, iirc

i bought ascended on release and ever since i've never been able to get into a loaded game to really test any sort of performance/see what is lacking most. I can load the game up fine but the moment i get to character creation it hard crashes immediately everytime regardless of settings

typically the screen freezes for about a minute and gains a white huge to it, then the whole screen goes white and takes about 10 mintues for it to crash fully and close out, cant close it through task manager or altf4

the only other game i run that behaves strangely is siege, it'll run fine regarding fps and ping and such, however it's as if im lagging without and sort of ping spikes whatsoever, and i checked to see if it was simply my cpu occupancy being too high but it was fine

and have you tried underclocking the GPU? -10% on core and VRAM clocks tends to prevent or at least reduce any minor load instability

evolved is nowhere near as demanding of resources and likely bottlenecked by the 6700k, typically how it works that a broken part will only fail under very high load

you would need an entirely new system for a meaningful upgrade, aside from keeping any decent SSDs. the next AMD gen is coming fairly soon, which should both lower prices and be a good contender.. with intel's current efficiency, performance, and emerging stability issues on raptor lake, they are not worth considering until 15th gen
