i have noticed that custom maps seem to run a lot better than the island

prim+ was made as an example of a "total conversion" mod, basically a fork of the game that makes changes to existing game files.. which is why it proves incredibly hard to update and became a mess over time. nobody really ever made total conversions, due to those issues with them

over time, ASE modders figured out a lot of ways to change core game content without having to overwrite files, but a few things cant really be changed, mostly due to being inaccessible to mods, or being set up before mods are loaded

some stuff is also just really technically complicated to change

best thing to remember is to just get back to it if something bad happens. perseverence is key

Let your dinos do the work. And always keep a recovery plan in action - spare armor and mounts - for when you die next.

Taming pens are great - use bear traps where useful. Bolas are also handy, for the creatures that they work on.

Beyond that… once you have a reliable Argie (or breeding pair), the game fundamentally changes. A saddled Argentavis is the pivot point between early and mid game imho. The Longneck rifle w/ tranq darts is up there as well, unless you get a higher tier crossbow (mastercraft/ascendant tiers).

Once you have an Argie or two, and a stone base, begin breeding dinos that you like, and tame them with Kibble where possible.

Taming pens are highly overrated. Once you learn how the majority of creatures move and path around objects, using terrain alone to tame is a cinch

Typically Carchas are stronger, specially with it's rage or whatever bonus.

I used to play ark on Xbox. That’s just how it works unfortunately. There is a command to change the tether distance so that you can be on opposite sides of the island without getting pulled. But the second you go into a cave they will be tethered to you.

Me and my friend are trying to do a legit play through of all the story arks ( we never finished extinction or the genesis’ and used the admin gun to beat aberrations) should be interesting and much more difficult. Our main problem with aberration was that even on pc a non dedicated server still tethers us and all the resources are in the terrible areas of the main cliff so we couldn’t split up.

Guide: Getting your dinos out of the ground
I have had some of my dinos, as well as myself, stuck under the ground multiple times and was able to get them out. Especially now with the new update that came out a lot of people log back in to find their dinos stuck under the island.

I don't know if everyone has figured this out already, so I'll just post this here and I hope it will be helpful to someone. If your dino is stuck under the ground, do the following:

1. Go to a steep area, like a mountain, close to where your dino is stuck
2. go prone (default X), try to glitch your head through the ground so you get a view on the water that is underneath the island.
3. Equip your spyglass, zoom in on the stuck dino and press T to make it follow you
4. Move to a river/lake/ocean, the dino will follow you and when you get to water somewhere the dino should be able to move right out of the island, back into the world.

I hope I helped some players get their dinos back into the world!

nice today was a very eventful ark day xD found a giga tried to tame it from my carchar back, it did not go well and carchar almost died had 400 hp left by the time i got away xD went back for round 2 jumped of the saddle and got killed in 1 bite by the time i got back my carchar had killed the giga, then on the way back home got a 135 deodon, a 145 direwolf and a 145 megatherium tame 🙂

the easiest would be to spam gamma brood with a megatherium, drag the fight out as long as possible to kill as many small spiders as you can. dont forget to use broth, explorer notes, toilet buff when you do it

Hello guys, I have some difficulties in setting up non dedicated server and would like to ask for your help. I tried to set non dedicated server and want to play with friend in ASA, but I cannot find a way to make it password protected. If I set it private match, my friend cannot find it. If I did no click private match, my friend can find it but did not need password, which makes sometimes random people join the game. I see someone say there is option to invite friend to join, but it seems I did not see any invite option in the game, I do have frd in steam though, are they identical?
