Not a 3070, (2080ti) but I generally sit at 30-35fps, until Sunrise/Sunset and then FPS drops to half at 12-15fps. The work around has been completely turning off shadows in console

Make sure you have Max Difficulty or your difficulty set to 5.

In the options when you are about to start single player otherwise you will get low level dinos everywhere. Also do a Dino wipe.

Yeah you can put -dx11 in the steam launch parameters (properties, bottom of the page)
Otherwise dx12 is default. Dx11 causes a hit in performance for many but at least they can get past the character creation screen

Transferred to the Crystal Islands for the time being. Spawned northeast to eventually reach the tusos (first spawn was at the coastline that bordered the snow. Mammoths nearby that I originally planned on eventually taming). Ended up dying numerous times trying to get my bearings. My ultimate downfall being not finishing my shelter and as a result was easy pickings for even the lowliest of compys.

Eventually in my numerous deaths, I ended up spawning on the verdant floating chunks.
Used parachute to reach the bottom. Hides are now a scarce luxury for me and progress is pretty much virtually halted.

It’s not just better graphics though. They’ve changed up a lot of other things too. Build mode has been completely revamped. You can track ALL of your creatures and tames now. The map shows your last death locations. You don’t need electrical wires and water pipes for electric and irrigation anymore. There are baby creatures. There is now pathfinding for creatures.

Yep. Some are close to shore in snow area but most are underwater

They aren't hard to spot. Also if you can't find anyt do a dino wipe and see if that fixes them not appearing. They aren't like they use to be.

carno island to my lnowledge if i remember corectly has a cave off the coast with a fair amount otherwise ammonites offer a decent amount no horshoe crabs

no the cloud setting doesnt affect underwater, it uses another fog setting

Makes it so the water looks clear basically. disables fog in certain areas like the redwoods too.
