there will be a terminal underneath the obelisk that lets you upload your character, after you upload your character go back to the main menu, select host/local and select the lost island map and hit play

you can put creatures in the ark data by using cryopods and ivd found it’s more safe as the game crashes a lot when transferring and doing certain things, one of those things being uploading/downloading creatures

No, non-dedi would be client version as its run through the client. server means server files downloaded directly from steam (not the ones that come with the game download)
non-dedi just has a lot of issues with connectivity.

It works, I just logged in. You can play using the cloud if you have a good internet connection, but you have to use a controller. It's better than nothing.
