Each stat has a certain number of stat points allocated to it. Basically it's the level of the Dino divided "randomly" into the different stats. Using the incubator and the soul gems you can actually see that number

With normal breeding chances you have about a 7% chance of getting a random mutation into any of the stats which adds 2 points to it

okay so the only way to level up the melee is to get a mutation

basically, the level you see on a dino is made of so called stat points.
all stat points combined and then +1 is the level.
you can mutate each stat, usually you will geta single mutation that increases that stat by two points. for example if you had 40 melee points, and then got a mutation, you will have 42 melee points.
mutations happen rarely and randomly into each of the stats, so oftentimes you will have sth like movement speed mutate, that you dont want. so you need to learn and understand the very basics of this concept first before you start worrying about capping out lines

Okay, first of 1.3k is not maxed out. I am assuming that you are adding player levels in. Those don't carry over to the baby dinos

if you breed any two dinos, the offspring will inherit either of their stats, guaranteed. it has like 60% chance to get the higher stat, no matter if its from the mother or father.
and as raq said, only the stat points matter, if you level the dino up or imprint, those "higher" stats dont carry over. only what the dino has at birth basically will carry over to further generations

If you look at the soul balls for the leveled dinos, you should see numbers like 40/88 which would mean that the thyla has 40 base points and then 88 player leveled stats. The babies only inherit the 40

i think you still really dont understand how the level system works in ark, each stat will have a certain number, BEFORE distributing any levels gained through experience into it (leveling it up)
and only those "base" points will carry over to an offspring, and also only those base levels will be able to mutate

For most practical purposes on pve doing 10 melee mutations is generally sufficient provided you have a good enough tamed stat, with a 1% chance it basically means you have to sift through 1000 or more baby thylas.

It's typically not worth doing unless you are playing pvp

like if you arent 100% certain of why a dino has a certain level, and how that level is determined, you will get confused alot when you try to mutate/breed dinos ^^

The counter doesn't really work intuitively, and unless you are using advanced techniques it is really the most important thing to watch

you can exploit an overlooked mechanic to overcome/bypass the 20/20 mutation counter by having one parent being below that threshold.
but honestly you really need to properly and thorougly understand how breeding, levels, mutations, etc work. these things are a bit in depth and make no sense if you are just starting out

For example, if you have a male Dino with 1 melee mutation, and it has a female baby. That female could end up not getting the stat, but it'll still have the counter saying it does. Breed that female to the male and you can end up with a baby that says it has 2 mutations, even if it doesn't have any actual stat difference

Kind of. You just wanna make sure the majority stay behind him. So only a few take the breath and rotate them out so that none of them take more than 3. Most of the dragons damage comes from his fire. If you control your tames well enough dragon isn’t that hard to beat.

With Theri you can just whistle attack because they heal with the cakes.

When I did fenrir I actually leveled some Rexes specifically for dragon (I’m usually too lazy to make cakes lol -for therizi-) so I have a separate batch if i need to do it again.
They only got like 40k HP (that’s less around 10 levels spend) and the rest is only melee. Like 3500-4000 or more.
They are good for other bosses too at this crazy dmg but for dragon it’s defo needed

Deinos can also cheese the dragon by grappling his left leg. It causes him to not be able to hit them or their riders and keeps him from flying off. Then the bleed does like 1% per second at max stacks.

The dragon also goes after the largest dino, so deinos don't get attacked much if you have a yuti. The deinos might even block the dragon, so he'll just keep walking towards the yuti without being able to get to him

Where I got really lucky with a level 150 argentavis already unconscious and I tamed it but then my game crashed and my save file was corrupted

So I was mad but I tried to find the problem

There are some reasons to the issue

Like the system can’t taking much more of the program and then crashing to prevent further issues

Or something else

You can set the launch option, verify the integrity of files, re install or install new GPU drivers, or reinstall ark

If you want to re instal ark but your data is going to be gone. I found a way to preserve your data

Yes, that's how you do it. For the second health mutation, you need the stat from the male to carry over and get a new health mutation.

Let's say that your unmutated male and female have 40 points in health. Then when you get a mutation, the male will have 42 points in health.
You still breed with the unmutated female, so when you get a baby, it might get the health stat from the mother or the father. You want the 42 from the father. And then you might get a second health mutation, so you get to 44 points.

If you don't have it already, get the egg incubator. It can give you a buff that lets you see the stats of the babies right after mating and discard them, if they don't have the right stats.

Yes. But the egg incubator will let you see the stats while they're gestating. Although if you have your rates maxed out, they might not be pregnant for long.

I'm also breeding thylas, but on official. So it's a much slower process than what you're doing 🙂

ive been having issues with a crash for the past few days. ive recently built myself a new pc, and ark is busy crashing after around 10 minutes in. I have re installed graphics drivers, verified files about 7 times, removed mods, restarted pc a 100 times and its not doing anything.
