There are three good strategies that I know of for that cave: (1) use a flyer, steal an egg and leave before any magmasaurs kill you and your dino; (2) sneak in on a drake and ""; (3) clear the cave on a giga or good Rex, and then steal eggs more or less at your leasure. You do not want to fight at all or even attract attention if you're doing #1 or #2.

i'd suggest watching a taming video on youtube, pretty easily understood once you have seen how it plays out

they startle easily and run annoyingly far once startled

the riding method of taming works really well (unless it runs you into a hostile mob)
