Don’t really matter unless you want boosted rates to make it easier or if you like saves. If you go official PVE you will get boosted rates once per week on weekends and during yearly events. May also be able to ask people in chat for help on official but single player is good for your first 5 or so hours then transitioning into PVE official or unofficial

Then yeah if you want to interact with people go official. It’s harder but it doesn’t get boring as quick because things take time and are much more difficult. Plus you get the opportunity to shit on people for not playing official if you want to be a jerk I guess. But it’s honestly more fun because unless u beg for stuff it takes a LONG time of grinding and fighting to complete the game but it’s so fun at the same time, especially breeding projects once you have a ton of breeders and get mutations

Not only that, once you beat your first boss and can start making tek ceilings n stuff, you can trade with people in your server for things breeders have made (best possible stats in game, special colorways, etc.) or also with bulk metal ingots and polymer. You can then use those to make your own colorways

Well I’m glad that you have picked the island because it’s by far the best starter island and a necessary part of an ark player’s journey. Levels are low too so it should be easier early on and harder as it goes to find highs to tame. Also has the best bosses and has like every end game important tame for the most part (giga, carcha, Rhyniognatha, Rex, theri, anky, doed, etc.) including boss animals and grinders

Oh btw @still bloom if you have a mobile device download DodoDex or use the website on any device cause it will tell you based on what you put in for rates, creature, creature level and food how long things will take as well as how well each creature harvests the material u are looking for. It’s a game changer when it comes to taming literally anything

It will also tell you how many hits from each taming weapon it takes to knock out the creature
