Delgoth!! My grumpy little wretch, Savant personality, with a bad case of the 'my lungs don't work properly'.

Born on a polluted world to a family of air filtration scrubbers, she showed huge promise as not only a sanctioned Psyker, but an Inquisitor. Sadly she fell short on her first heavy-duty mission after being mauled by a demon host and leaving her team to die.

After returning in shame, only to endure a couple of years of 'Inquisition Inquiries', she was given a choice. Be fed to the Emperor for a noble death, or slum it with the rejects.

it's turning out beautiful! personally i thiknk your perspective is fine, i think a lot of artists might feel the need to make their art look as accurate/realistic in proportion as possible, but a lot of times as long as it looks good and believable it's not really necessary to worry too much about that. hope that makes sense. just my personal opinion though to heelp calm the perfectionism down

I have that same feeling but with faces, I don't know why but if someone nails the face (looks good, fits the character, etc) you nailed the drawing for me. Doesn't matter if u got something wrong with body or anatomy might be a bit off, if the face looks good the rest of the image is good too.

They do! In fact, you will ALWAYS find a commissar in any catachan themed book you get, for the express purpose to describe a scene in which the commissar fucks up and the squad sergeant proceeds to calmly take off their backpack, roll up their sleeves and finally punch the shit out of them. (Source: Death world by Steve Lyons)

More generally, there are commissars, but they are strangely prone to unfortunate "accidents" the more they complain or shout unwanted orders. In case of my OC Schrodinger, he was sent there as a cadet due to administratum mistake, nearly killing him but teaching him the precious and underestimated virtue of humility.

For those who give a fuck, The story follows one Commissar Layla Merrin and her first command, a penal legion known as the Rykarin Dregs, trying to deal with a gaggle of Genestealer cultists.

Guard are getting a fairly extensive death korps lineup per rumours(to go alongside the cadians), so DK command squad etc.

... slightly dissapointed, but it's certainly more than the guard normally get. could always just proxy stuff i guess

frankly making a straight up penal legion is gonna be hard anyway, since 99% of non-character guard models are just tanks

Eh, depends on what you want from your penal legion, and if you're willing to use proxies.
I have a penal guard too in the making (Lore's done as any poor soul in the server's been subjected to it for months now, slooowly working on models), model-wise I'm just mixing up bits and pieces from what I can find fitting. Concripts and guardsmen will be cannon fodder and raumjaeger from Wargames atlantics, command squad is made of the kasrkin kill team, just to name a few.
IF you're willing to do some light conversions and look around there's a bunch of stuff you can do.
If your penal guard is a more classic one, with very poor equipment and such, the Wargames atlantic cannon fodder might do the job for you as well.

i have no issue doing conversions (other than never having done it before but whatevs) or proxies. the idea is sorta like the Savlar chem-dogs, who get to keep whatever they loot from their battles. plus they probably cludge together metal pieces they find around into armor and stuff.

Since Whenever I post here is usually just about my main man, the seditionist zealot Preach, I thought about showing some stuff about my other Darktide characters.
First on the list is my Veteran, Lord Commissar Cassius Pyra, born as the villain for a currently in construction Wrath & Glory campaign.
Since it's supposed to be a Farsight Enclaves VS Imperium campaign, he's pretty much the physical embodiment of everything evil within the Empire. Fun stuff.

If you mean Schrodinger he can be a surprisingly wholesome man, astoundingly un-racist as commissars go, got trauma as a cadet to thank for that.
He's just emotionally withdrawn as fuck because... well, commissar. He has tried diplomacy with aeldari before, done some supportive speech when one of his command squad had a breakdown, even derailed a transport so he and his squad could buy street food when HE was the one having a breakdown once. All this to say, he might be weird about Yormun or the others, but in truth that's probably because he's lowkey scared of them and trying not to show it.

Oh can I weigh in for a moment cause I'm a huge fan of the "psychic plane" or whatever manifesting as water. And 40K is on the nose with it with the Warp being called the "Sea" of souls. But like, the brain is mostly water and salt, salt water is conductive and brain signals are conveyed via electricity.

But also just the symbolism of water is So Good. The ocean is deep and unknowable. You can lose your feet in waist deep water and it's ever moving, ever shifting and alive and you can be an inch from an abyss and be unaware. Water can also be still and reflective. It fills your body and brain but it can also drown you. There's also the symbolism of the water of mother's womb and that all human life was first immersed and carried in water before birth.

I'm sorry for rambling I used to use water theme and symbolism a lot in my old Fandom fanfics so it's something I get very excited about.

To close off my day, after presenting Commissar Cassius Pyra, the next on the list is my Psyker, The Kid.

The Kid was born as a Player Character for a small Sci-fi RPG one-shot. He was randomly generated as fragile and incompetent, and I fully expected him to die at the first combat, so I wrote him to be the lamest guy in the galaxy, to the point I memed him into becoming the Joker after he was violently mutated by a nuclear reactor.
As it turns out, not only did he not die, but by sheer chance through a random encounter he met a bunch of mutant criminals with the same traits he had just developed, who helped him escape from prison.
By defying fate like that he ended up becoming a personal favorite of mine, so now I have this messed up Clown-coded liar as my space wizard.

To keep up with my Character introductions, it's time for my most recent addition, former Genestealer Magus Ebenezer Gins.
He doesn't like the Imperium, but man does he hate Nurgle a whole lot more.
He doesn't have a big backstory outside of what is told here. I just wanted to make something different for fun, and every now and then I'd see someone make their Genestealer Cults OC, which is a pretty fun idea in an Imperium-focused game.

Using the holiday as a good chance to practice on pro-create and do a little expression exercise with Delgoth. Not sure how animated I want to go with it, but it’s a fun challenge trying to give someone hidden behind a re-breather some personality and exagerated emotions

I find with Delgoth it also helps to kind of tweak her collar a little too, really it's a thick ass semin-circle, but if you sort of tweak perspective on a few things and 'bend' a few elements it helps! Even little things like her two stray hairs which I always forget, and adding in a little bit of psyker energy into the mix!

and even without those things expressive movement can help

Trve, but it can take a lot of practice to really push a characters facial and body expressions in drawing and exaggerate. it's a skill that has a lot more in it than just emoting a facial feature and Red is certainly fantastic at it!

Why do I feel like 3 sets of eyes are staring at me right now

Having presented my other 4 characters, the last one is, of course, Peach. People on the server have seen this guy already.
He was my character for a long and kinda messy but still fun Only War campaign, so his story is way longer than the others, frankly too long and messy to write in detail on these already long Character Sheets. Here is a pretty simplified version on the parts that matter, including a little "Where are they now?" section based on his canonical ending, founding my little homebrew FE subfaction.
Preach was with me for a looong time, from the start when he was a generally more childish "ridiculously extreme fanatic" kind of character, to when I've had some rough times and ended up getting burnt on the Imperium, then coming back to appreciate the setting again, but slowly moving to prefer Xenos factions instead. All that kind of ended up integrated in his own evolution as a character.
Also he's like 30-35 years old, he looks like that just because he spent most of his time blowing himself up or attacking nuclear reactors in melee. The guy has problems.

But yeah I could totally see a bunch of unsanctioned Psykers on a planet specializing in fuel production getting hillbilly high on alchemically tweaked fuel fumes as a crude form of keeping unsanctioned Psykers from blowing themselves and the people around them up. Or randomly demon's. It's a pretty slick idea. Some gangs or unsanctioned covens might even have their own cocktail recipes and delivery methods. Some might inject it as a liquid or pump it into their gasmasks or chug it like moonshine.

31-33 Prisoner: After a mission turned sour, leading to most of her team being slaughtered by a Demonhost, Delgoth went AWOL. After outing herself and returning to the Inquisition to face her guilt, she spent three years under intense interrogation and 'purification' before being sentenced to death to the golden throne of the Emperor.

34 Reject: After her transport ship was attacked by Nurgle cultists, a set of unusual circumstances led her to The Morningstar and a choice: face her execution with honour or live in shame on the Morningstar, cleaning up Atoma Prime's underbelly. She chooses shame.

35 Reinstated: After earning the trust of the ship's inquisitor, it was revealed to her that her imprisonment and time on the Morningstar had all been planned. How citizens were demonised and threatened for simply wanting to survive in a cruel world, which, to a point, led to a sudden outburst, killing the same inquisitor who'd groomed her so long ago. All Delogth could do was flee.

36 Metamorphosis: After her fall from grace, Delogth struggled. Without food, shelter or safety, she withered, but it was only at her lowest that she was granted a gift. Approached in a catatonic hallucination by a mysterious figure, Delgoth was offered the opportunity to play host to a new god, The Fathomless, The Son of Nurgle and the parasite god of decay, pollution and new life. How could she refuse?

After a fever-dream sleep, Delgoth woke in the generous care of the Benevolent Hand(Feat Plasmometer!), a cult of chaos worshipers who'd found in her weakened state. Discovered by Jeremechy, a cultist whom she'd helped not long ago Delgoth was offered a sanctuary and home.

Over time, as her Psyker powers became more apparent, Delgoth was worshipped as a religious figure in the community, especially as her body began to change and mutate beyond her control, as the parasite inside her started to grow ... and rebuild her her body, like a moth evolving in a cocoon.

37 Rebirth: After a year of incubation and growth, the parasite infecting Delgoth's body had completed its work and rebuilt what was broken; she and it were now one, and the power of the warp flowed through them, like water through a stream. Her body wasn't just physically stronger, but her Pysker abilities had become fearsome to behold.

Among cultist groups, she had begun to embrace the role of a messiah, protecting the weak, spreading the good word of Nurgle, and tainting the lower levels with a toxic substance known as 'Blight'. Those who embraced Chaos and the Fathomless learned to live with Blight by growing immune, whilst non-believers suffered toxic poisoning or starvation of what little organic material wasn't tainted.

41-45 The Fathomless Blight: While becoming a religious figure appeased Nurgle and their offspring, voices from distant futures beckoned Delgoth to widen her ambition and share her gifts with the stars. During this period, Delgoth's body began to produce more parasites and use them to connect the minds of willing participants in a hive mind level of control. They did not travel through ships but rather through tainted waters like warp gates. They were small, but they were formidable.

46 Eldritch Lord: The gods had truly smiled upon Delgoth, as each victory in her crusade brought her more power and allies to her hive-mind army. They infected oceans and corrupted landscapes, and for every planet that drowned in blight, thousands would fall under her sway and become part of her infested trawl. Mirroring Delgoth Alpha-level Psyker power and physical growth.

To Date
Whilst a small part of the Great Game, Delgoth's legion is prominent and versatile in who they see as friend or foe. Some say she appears out from the shadows of dying ships to offer salvation to those in need, others, raiding Dark Eldar slave barges to offer a painless existence to their broken captors, and some say that they offer pacts of strength with both rogue traders, Eldar alike and orc alike.

They have become the cosmic boogyman, wading through the warp to find those weakest and in need and offering them salvation ... one parasite ... one goal ... one mind.

I dont even know where to begin with this. Such a disturbing and timeless classic and it feels really fits so well in the universe. Every single design of her is so raw. It's such an awful fate for her, but man it's so cool.
My favourite parts about her design is that despite it all you can still see her through each one, and each one becomming more self assured and determined. Her "rebirth" design is so cool with all the spikes protuding out of her flesh now instead of her armour, with the blight seeping out of her. The blight in general is just horrifying.

I love how they grants their parasites to those willing and initially traverses through these water gates like something out of a nightmare. I also want to say that I really love that you chose to lean into the Nurgle route. I see Tzeentch a lot for Psykers(naturally given the nature and is completely fine) but seeing some other fanmade Psykers succumb to a different path adds a lot of variety to the pool and I just appreciate it a lot!
I love all the effort you put into her and it's so awesome and inspiring to see someone pour this much love and care into their characters. You have great and fun ideas and I love your executions.
